Fixed the "One Pass at midcourt then shoot" Bug

Hey guys, this year's gameplay bug is that you can often see the CPU point guard dribble to the midcourt then passes the ball to the star player and that star player would immediately shoot or drive in. This is often seen after you made the basket on the offense and coming back to play half court defence, and what was strange was that this error would frequently happen when you are playing against NJ Nets, NY Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets. See the pattern guys? All these teams that have this bug has a Star Point Guard who are scorers on their team. NJ = Kidd, Knicks = Marbury, GS = Baron Davis, Denver = Allen Iverson But what's even stranger is that Phoenix, Spurs, Hornets, Jazz don't have this error, their point guard will dribble across the midcourt line and set up the offense even though it's mostly one pass to star player and shoot, but at least the offense sets up half court unlike New York when Stephon would throw a quick pass at midcourt to a guy and they would quickly shoot.

Anywayz here's how i fixed the problems with Denver, NY, NJ, GS. After doing alot of investigating I lowered the starting PG's Speed Rating to 83 but left every other rating the same including Quickness. The PGs don't immediate pass the ball at midcourt for a quick shoot/drive in, but they actually play the half court game (even though there's still a one pass-shoot philosophy) So whenever you play a team a noticed this bug after you just scored, just exit the game and lower the Opponent PG's Speed Rating to 83 and it should make the CPU team play half court offense.

PS: Plz can someone alter the AIACT.VIV file or at least teach me? I want to know so i can make it more realistic and make the CPU team play TEAM basketball (3-4 passes to different teammates before they shoot) Thanks

It's much better than 08 but the dunk are extremely unrealistic. The game playing is way better though, slower pass, and pg sets up plays.

I think whoever tweaks the AIACT.VIV file and makes the game more realistic, should post their file here since we all want the CPU to play more like in real-life.

It would be great if we can this aiact file to work with 08's dunk so that the dunks won't be so unrealistic!

If you want to get the ai from that aiact into the normal dunk packages do the following.


Download EAgraph from the tools section of this website.

Open the original 08 aiact.viv in EA graph.

Extract the panim.act and the dunk.act files.

Open my street aiact.viv in EAgraph.

Import>Add files to an external TAR archive.> browse and select the panim.act and the dunk.act files.

import and finish



I want to make this clear. I do not want this edited aiact to be released by someone else. It will do you guys some good to know how to edit files, import and export from the aiact.viv.

Lonewolf, i dont want it reuploaded. It is very simple to update by yourself. And yes, to prove a point i will take down any links to a reuploaded aiact personally.

It's not going to kill you and you may learn something.



the panim.act is the passing animations, the one i had in the street aiact included a feature where if you hold down the pass button a little longer, any player could do fancy playmaker passing.

this aiact.viv appears to have not solved all the problems. Nets and Suns, Kidd and Nash are still thorwing full court pass everytime to players. This is so DAM ANNOYING!

Ok..it appears that if you decrease the passing ability to 87 or below..the pg don't pass it right away but they take the ball up the court. It has worked for Nash but will keep testing to see if this will stay consistant.

Hey Jao i'm following your steps but it says "Please build a list of files to add to the TAR" after i selected the Dunk.act file under browse... it won't let me import!

also if try editing the pg's speed down to 83 they will not make the half-court passes

Hey i used Pdub's AIACT.VIV tutorial but it did not work, i followed his instructions to allow more passes for the cpu but the changes made in the assignment.act file did not make a difference...

TC..you're doing it wrong..where it says browse..don't touch that..where it says add..press that and add the dunk and pan file and then finalize it...i was confused with that too..

Changing the speed is going to affect the game play..decreasing pass ability from 90's to 87 won't change game play much..seems more reasonable soluation...

I did that nextnba, but it didn't work still, no affect on the gameplay even though i changed the assignment.act with the H column from 60 to 50... anyone had any success in increasing the amount of passes?

thanks i've sent you an email, looking forward to viv file. BTW are you talking about Jao's Street VIV and adding the Dunk.act and the panim.act? or Did u use Pdub's tutorial to try to add more passes in the game by editing the assignment.act file in notebook?

I've tried using Jao's street aiact.viv added with the original panim.act and dunk.act but it doesn't work. Still the same imbound-pass-shoot issue. :x

agreed airarch_23, also i've used the Pdub's tutorial on how to edit the assignment.act file and lowered the H column in the "good passer" column but still i didn't see a difference.
