It's for the NBA Live community Andrew, I don't have a problem sharing the ratings information.

Thanks Playmakers, much appreciated. :)

I posted the wrong changes initially here's the new one's for the Sliders.

It's up to you to find a happy setting that caters to your playing style....as you all know sliders are based on the individual's style of play more than anything.

The changes I made are listed here with explanations as to why i made the changes:

Camera's-I went back to ZERO ZOOM!
I know the game looks good up close but I'm a firm believer it moves better the further your away from the action. My personal setting is Press Box 10-Height without any zoom (Just play 1-2 games and watch how clearly you see the CPU setting up plays). The players move pretty good for me using this view. The added speed ratings help but the camera keeps up with the action pretty darn good and it renders a nice view of most of the court.

Minutes-9
I went back and forth between 7, 8 & 9 and finally decided on 9 minutes because it provided the best balance in terms of scores being more varied between 100 points and 80-90 point games.

Game Speed-20 or 30
Every time I went lower something just didn't feel right in the halfcourt set.

Most guy's looked lazy not in terms of straight ahead speed but in terms of getting to a spot when you called a play, 30 wasn't too fast and if you play 7-9 minute QTR's it would be pretty good using that speed.

Fouls
Charge/Block-60
Reach In-85
Shooting Foul-100
In Air Collision-100

I got sick of the CPU only shooting 8-10 FT's per game, maybe it was my style of play but in reality if you check NBA.com the league avg over the last two years is closer to 20+ FT attempts per game for each team. Guy's like D.Wade, LBJ and Kobe if they get into paint are going to draw fouls plain and simple and that was what I wanted to see more of out of the CPU.

Human Slider changes
Steals-20
INT-100
Shot Block-20
Short Range-35
Medium Range-35
Long Range-50
Dunk Percentage-50
Lay Up Percentage-50
Sink or Swim-20

CPU Slider Changes
Steals-60
Shot Blocking-40
Dunk vs Layup Frequency-80
Fakeout Discipline-80
Short Range-40
Medium Range-65
Long Range-50
Dunk Percentage-40
Lay Up Percentage-65
Defensive Low Post Strength-50

In regards to the Layup Percentage Slider. If you set it too low the CPU will start shooting layups that hit the bottom of the rim way too much or even shoot behind the backdoor on occasion. I've found that by increasing the Layup Percentage Slider it reduces those things but it also leads to some layups that they pull out their azz and make......

Based on that fact i'd rather see the impossible layups more often than the stupid blown layups by the AI that hit the side of backboards or the bottom of the rim. I guess it's more of pick your poison as to which one you prefer seeing in your games.

Lamrock93 wrote:Amazing Rosters and Sliders. Really makes a huge difference in the game. Some of the ratings for players are still bad, but I managed to edit those to my liking. (Hughes 85, Lee 68, etc.)

Great job, it really makes Live 08 worth playing!

I think what EA was trying to accomplish was to have the user build up the ratings of the players through dynasty mode by training them to get better.

It's a great idea but for those who want better game play out of the box EA's ratings hurt the game more than they help it. I think if more people really saw how the game plays with better assigned ratings to the players in general the game might have recieved more posistive feedback this year.

Most reviewer's don't have time to jack around with sliders and ratings and therefor if the game had got a 6 or 7 per say IGN out of the box if they were allowed to recieve a copy of Live that was edited or tweaked much better for game play I'd say that 6 or 7 score could easily go up to 7.5 or 8.0.......which is one of the reason's why I wish EA specifically had guy's in their QA department that did nothing but test play the game 1-2 months before relasing it. It would go along ways towards helping their fan base come back.

Hey guys,

I have NBA Live on the Xbox 360 and I would love to download Playmakers current (Nov 04, 2007) roster/slider settings via the Locker Room. My Xbox Live online tag is Aim69. So can someone please hit me up. It would be greatly appreciated.

btw, the download will update sliders plus rosters? Or just the rosters?

Thank You.

Been playing the series since 1997, but first time I am trying to mess with the sliders. I use the pc version. Where do you find all this (post savy? etc)? Do you have to get a program to get inside the dbf's, and where do I get it?

Playmaker,

Can your ratings be used for the PC version or will you be putting our realistic sliders for the PC separately?

I finshed these edits and took a break from Live 08 for about 2 weeks. I've now started my franchise and the results have been pretty good.

As for the questions since most of them appear to be in regards to the PC version. I don't have that version of the game and to be honest I don't know these edits to the players would work on the PC version.

Some of the PC sliders are different aswell and the ratings in Live 08 on the 360 version if I'm not mistaken has more overall player ratings included.

Sorry for the late reply

hey guy's , i think there's stiII probIems with the wrong pIayers taKing shots too much... aIso point guards stiII dont run the pIaybook often enough ...

I'm trying a few games now with off baII awareness +15-30 for the whoIe team and aIso shooting ment' for the main 3 pIayers around 90-95 with the rest of the team around 60-70.

any other suggestions ??

Thu Jan 03, 2008 2:23 am

some other observations... bench pIayer rotation is REAIIY strange at time's !! AI had tim duncun at SG !! it's a shame you cant set the rotation for the AI teams .

so far increasing the off baII and shootiing ment' seems to improve shot seIection pretty weII...

Sun Jan 06, 2008 10:42 am

I don't understand the shot tendencies at all in the link you provided playmaker. The guy who posted it doesn't do it really in a clear fashion. He posts the same players and teams like 3 times. SOme help would be appreciated.

BUT otherwise GREAT work! It's pretty good now. I did turn down the fouls, becuz almost everyone would get into foul trouble. Also there still is a weird bug when the starting PG gets in foul trouble, the CPU is putting the SG as the new point guard instead of calling the backup. Oh well whatever. Thanks Playmaker and I hope you can help with the shooting tendencies.

Also I just played a game agianst Miami, and J-WIll took 38 shots, Idon't know what to do..

ALSO: When I implemented ratings my Boston was only an 87, and PHoenix was only an 89, when you said that they should be a 90 and 96 respectively. I'm a bit confused... Also what about team specific ratings for the ones that aren't posted.. what should we do?

EDIT: Shit I realzied playmaker hasn't checked the forum in a while, anyone knwo what to do??

Sun Jan 06, 2008 9:00 pm

I've been working on a damn March Madness Roster file which is taking me a great deal of time since there are so many college teams.

I'll answer some of the latest questions in the next few days and I also plan to release a revised version of the file after the NBA trade deadline.

Mon Jan 07, 2008 2:44 am

Oh ok no problem Playmakers. Take your time, with all your excellent work, I'll be glad to wait..

Mon Jan 07, 2008 9:08 am

Hey Chaser7 ,

Did you Iower J'wiIIiams shooting ment and Aggresion to 0 ?? try that and increase his off baII awareness ( infact you shouId try that +15 for the whoIe team , as weII as vision )

PIus increasing the go to guys shooting mentaIity (Wade's shouId be over 90 and his aggression too) what you try and do is increase the creative stats and Iower the scoring ones for PG's

try it....
