Same observations as Andrew's and a couple more:

"Go-To Guy" Domination
I noticed that the opposing team executes transition offense too fast. During an inbound, it just takes a couple of seconds for the PG to pass the ball to the SG or SF then the SG/SF does the damage while the defending team is still taking its defensive position.

Auto Sub
Rarely works in positions other than Center.

3-Point Shots, Steals, and Block Attempts
Often ineffective even when using defensive players (take Jason Terry and Josh Howard as an example).

Direct Pass Delayed Response (Keyboard)
I haven't played using a gamepad yet but when using the keyboard, I noticed that the direct pass key isn't as responsive as last year's version. Geez! Why fix it when it's not broken? At other times, just pressing the direct pass key is enough to pass the ball to a random teammate. I don't want that!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I don't know if it's just me but I noticed that the "X" button in the Main Menu which was supposed to close the window occasionally disappears. I'm using a 1024x768 screen res but I guess the main menu defaults at 800x600.

I have some more bug:
When the CPU takes the ball to the frontcourt and passes it to his teammate on the backcourt, there is no backcourt violation! What the hell?! Also there are many teams which has less than 12 players. I would also like to add the ratings of Daequan Cook of MIA and Alando Tucker of PHX. I mean seriously, why are these players so highly rated? They have better ratings than Carlos Boozer for God's sake! I am hoping for a roster patch to be made.

PC Version

1. Again, as it was in 07, there r no slider matching possible if you play online. :shock:

2. And again it is not possible to make a normal 3 throw rating if you play online cause the online slider (which you can´t change) stands bei 3% or so like it was in 07, too. So we need a quick patch to correct it. In that way online gamming is impossible. And it doesn´t madder if you r (with allen for example) in your hot spot or not. :(

3. No Wildscreen support like 1650 x 1050 !!!

hi all,

don't know if this counts as a bug:
can you no longer play a fixed player in nba live 08?
where has this "feature" gone.
i used to play "shooting guard" for the lakers since i can remember. for many many many years of dynasty mode since nba live 06 (or was it 05?)
(have been playing nba live since '97 version!)
am i just not finding the switch for that?

I found a little bit that I want to call " Big Man domimance"

I found that player like Tim Duncan always catch and shoot nearly every time that he touch the ball in Superstar level

maybe i will try other level and see how it change

i agree with sak

on superstar mode i been playing, the big mens, ( yao, Brad miller, Dirk) they explode for like 40+ points on a catch and fade away shot its so annoying cuz they end up shooting in teh game for 15-20

2. Trading , i dont know if this is just me but everytime i trade, i can not see the players Contract to make a reasonable \ trade money wise

Thanks for the feedback so far. It's looking more like the crashes are due to people having the illegal version of the game but if anyone with a legal version is experiencing similar difficulties, be sure to post your system specs.

Ive played a few games and so far Ive found more gameplay bugs than anything else:

Obvious back courts, not being called

PG Dominance, I played with Lakers vs the Bulls, and Hinrich on at least 1/4 possessions wouldnt pass, he would only ever go 1 on 1 even with double or triple teamed, end up taking fade away 3s with over 10 seconds left on the shot clock and of course, they drop

Rebounding is very difficult, I had Bynum/Odom/Cook/Brown rebound 5 total, while Ben Wallace had 14 and I was 3-to-1 outrebounded.

When the other teams scores, and I inbound quickly, 1/2 possesions I find my SG is unmanned on the left side of the court, so I just get easy open jumpers. This HAS NOT been fixed and it was the first thing I had a problem with in 07, it just dumbs-down the AI and makes it too easy to score, very frustrating.

Back-Door Play: Ahh...how can it be a back-door play, WHEN NOBODY MOVES BACKDOOR WHEN YOU CHOOSE IT. Its just a direct pass play.

Not overly impressed so far with the gameplay.

I'd like to add something to the description of the simulation engine problem.

Since many of the stats are balanced with others, the biggest problems are the fg% and 3pt% being too high, and post players shooting alot of 3's and getting alot of assists when they shouldn't be. Lowering those percentages would lower the scoring leaders, and add to the rebounds, and possibly blocks and steals.

One thing that is makes me mad is that everytime i play a game i always get beaten cpu players are way to good to defend and i always take a lot of misses even if i am free from defenders... :x :x

the aiact is bad and also the sim engine

More glitches:
Pressing double team, on a fast break when you know you're beaten, your team actually runs away from the player, real helpful.

When the ball is out of bounds you cannot switch player (i.e: you're the SF but you want to switch to the SG off the ball to defend him) cant be done.

You cant switch who you want to pass to, in previous years from inbounds you could change the player and move him into a position to make an easier shot, now you just automatically pass it to him when you select him, very frustrating as you have to rely on preset plays which are very ineffective.

Basically the last 2 games Ive played Ive had to shut down due to out and out frustration, and this is not what I planned on doing, if I go to my xbox360 and actually enjoy playing virtua tennis and fifa, not NBA at the moment. (N)

NBA LIVE 08 - PC Port

1. A.I.
1.1. A.I. doesn't exist; players acting stupidly
1.2. Too many out of bounds and backcourt violations
1.3. CPU doesn't make a foul or call a timeout to stop the clock when they are behind

2. Defence
2.1. Guards are making easy blocks
2.2. Very easy lay-ups; no defence inside
2.3. Steal button doesn't work (well, it works but you cannot steal the ball)

3. Star Players
3.1. Star player domination; both CPU and Human
3.2. Many difficult shots with a hand in their face are successful (CPU)

4. Passes
4.1. Too many turnovers
4.2. You can steal the ball very from the baseline easily
4.3.1. Direct Pass and
4.3.2. Alley oops; problematic

5. Shots
5.1. Fake shot too slow
5.2. Hot Spots not well implemented causing
5.2.1. To lead your game to specific shot locations
5.3.1. Missed 3-point shots with good shooters; even without defence

6. View
6.1. Not a variety of cameras
6.2. Auto-Zoom feature has problems
6.3. One-on-One, practice etc. game modes don't have all the cameras
6.4. The ball and the rim are not clearly seen (especially with dark shirts/courts)
6.5. Time interval between the basket and the replay is too short (some msec)

7. GUI
7.1.1. Only with the mouse; keyboards and joypads are only for the game
7.1.2. e.g. pausing the game pressing escape to resume doesn't work
7.2.1. Info-window-boxes (stats, fouls, etc.) pop up in the middle of the screen
7.2.2. These window-boxes are also very big; score display bar is very big too

8. Speed
8.1. Fast speed; Arcade rythm
8.2. Sliders are messed and not well adjusted

9. International Teams
9.1. Rosters are totally messed (completely wrong especially for Greece)
9.2. No cyberfaces and photos
9.3. No International courts

10. Rebounds
10.1. Ball fells to the court although they have jumped 10 players for the rebound
10.2.1. You cannot post/jump after a missed free throw
10.2.2. Missed free throw->always a rebound for the CPU
10.2.3. You can not easily switch to all the players (for the rebound)

*** Some are not exactly bugs but misc. not well implemented things in NBA Live 08 ***

This issue was in 07 as well. If you use the off ball controls(push and hold the right analog button) you can change to a player you want to control similar to the direct switch option.

I would like to add as a minor bug/glitch:

the commentary is way too off...
For example, in the dying minutes of the game an opponent is up by 3, when you are in a hotspot, take a jumper and miss a shot. Steve Kerr would say something like, great shot, they must play defense as they are now only down by 3. Which is something that he would have said if the opponent was up by 5 and you made the shot.

It also happens quite frequently during the regular course of the game itself. Sometimes when you miss, he'll say great execution, that player will hit that shot blah blah.

I think it comes from the program's assumption that a wide open hotspot shot wouldn't miss...

My #1 issue and its only thing i want fixed if they do anything at all.

PLEASE change the online long range shooting slider to 40 +. OR allow us to use custom sliders on ip to ip IF both people have same roster/settings

Don't know if you'd call it a bug or glitch ... everytime I pass the ball, especially on fast breaks, the receiving players stops for just a splitsecond to catch the ball before he runs on ... which leads to sometimes the defence catching up.

Frontcourt Player Dominance ... I have simmed a season. It was mentioned before, but I guess EA has to hear it repeatedly. The top 20 in points per game averaged more than 30 ppg. PF's and C's were leading the assist category ... in my simmed season it was Tim Duncan with about 7.3 apg and Shaquille 'freakin O'Neal with 6 apg. What the heck EA? Rebounds were way down ... IIRC nobody averaged more than 10 a game.

FIX THE DAMN ROSTERS! Seriously EA, it can't be that hard to provide an up to date roster for every team. Half the rookie class of '07 isn't even in the game, and don't get me started on the ratings. We are about 36 hours away from the start of the season ... opening day rosters should be provided by EA. In the simmed season I took Charlotte ... I was able to get both Kevin Durant (at 8) as well as Jeff Green (at 20something) for Charlotte. Greg Oden was never No. 1.

And if you don't redo the draft ... the Hornets for example simply don't get any Rookies.

Thats my biggest gripe so far with the PC version ... it would be so easy to fix this, but I bet EA waits till some modder puts up fixed rosters, so why would they care.

Somebody said it already, not seeing the contract value when trading is a bummer, you have to suggest the trade, only to get a return message, that it didn't work out because of salary cap restrictions ...

The CPU seems to trade big time way too often ... In the simmed season he traded Gasol for Redd, and traded some more Memphis players for name-players away. Was kind of weird (although I managed to get Gilbert Arenas for Kevin Durant / Adam Morrison).

Billups 2/10 (front) - 3/10 (corner)
Prince 1/10 (front) - 2/10 (corner)
Wallace 2/10 (front) - 0/10 (corner)
Hamilton 0/10 (front) - 1/10 (corner)

In the game with 4min quarters and superstar level if one 3point shot finds the target is a big success

Having fast passes is actually a good thing when compared to the past and the 360 version. You can rotate the ball better. In the past, the slow passes alowed the defense to recover quickly.

MAJOR GAMEPLAY ISSUES :

- Player always stops while taking a pass, and then continues( ****This is the most annoying for me, cuz it blocks fluid gameplay !)

- Opponent AI goes under the basket and stops even when he's free !

- "BIG MAN" always dominates the paint with go-to-moves&fadeaway shots ! (Have you ever tried defending Amare ??? If you have tried, you can understand what i mean !!! )(He can't be that quick !)

- You can't move your selected player when someone takes a Free Throw !

- AI Point Guard does so many "backdowns" through the FT line !

- Sometimes right analog stick doesn't work ! Even when you rotate it, player stands still !

- Too many unseen "backcourt" violation !

- Too many unseen "out of bounds" violation !

I think someone mentioned it already, but anyways ... the tuned down the PG domination, but overdid it into the other direction. Now AI PG's are sometimes scared to cross the halfcourt, if you pressure them with your PG from the inbound on ... I had one PG go out of bounds and another commit a 8 second violation - for the first time in my Live career have I managed to hound the opponent into an 8 second violation.
