Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

Could somebody tell me whats the best sliders for the PC version on 5 min/ qrt. superstar????
Mon Nov 05, 2007 6:30 pm
Here is the official sliders thread for NBA Live 08. If you're posting sliders here, please make sure you specify whether your slider set is for the PC/PS2 version or the Xbox 360/PS3 version of the game. It's a good idea to post the difficulty level and quarter length that best suit your sliders as well.

PC sliders please.... about 6-8 mins superstar level....

Thanks!

PC sliders please, for 8-12 minutes, superstar. Thanks!
Wed Nov 07, 2007 4:08 pm
6-8 minutes here, still tweaking.. CPU controlled teams are still using run and gun offense most of the time, even if i lower the game speed..
Thu Nov 08, 2007 4:17 am
Yeah right, run and gun offense. And transitional defense is zero.
I still do 8 min, but the CPU's PG and SG are killing me even if I lower my speed to 20. Hope someone will have a tweak at AIACT as did in 07.
Thu Nov 08, 2007 6:44 pm
Have you guys tried setting the CPU's offensive plays before the game, always worked for me.

I am getting pretty realistic figures for FGA, 3PA, 3P% in simulated games.
I think my FG% is still a little bit too good - still workin' on it.
Do u guys have any suggestions of what to adjust???
I got 3 more questions - hopefully u could help me solve these:
- Is there any possibility to pre-define the playbook (also for CPU) - so that I don't have to do it in game every time???
- I couldn't find an option to freeze the Controller-Options - I also have to do this every single game.... sux!!!
- And another gameplay issue: it seems to me that a team's superstar scores way too much - is there a way to get these Stars to involve their teammates a little bit more?
So long!

DaFisch - see this thread for the instructions on changing the default team strategy and the default quick plays so you do not need to change them every time.
http://www.nbaliveforums.com/ftopic52504.php
There is some debate about whether changing the team strategy makes any improvement to the gameplay - I would love to know if anyone sees a difference.
You said you are getting pretty good shooting % in simulated games using these sliders. I did not think the sliders impacted simulated games at all - just the games you play live. I have found that the human medium and long range sliders need to be much higher to hit anything (or I still just really suck at this verion of the game still...). Have you tried these much is live games vs. the CPU?
Fri Nov 09, 2007 6:11 pm
Yeah, you're right....
I also sucked in long and medium range shooting - but compensated that by penetrating more.
So I turned the medium and long range numbers to the lower 40s - maybe I am going to lower short range shooting a little bit.... still figuring that out. (Of course in Live Games - I'm playing all day
If sliders don't effect simulated games - how can I alter the sim. stats?
I am going to use your .dbf edit for my next opponent and tell you my oppinion.
Thx for your input man.

I am still working on some issues:
1. I think it's too easy to penetrate for the user - has someone a suggestion how to make that more difficult.
2. Although my foul sliders are relatively high, I get only ca. 15 PF per game - maybe I have to set all to max.
3. The fine tuning on the FG% via short range/medium/long range is still in progress....
What do u guys think of these parameters???? Let me know!

Boundary force is one of the sliders EA took away from 360 version of the game along with double team effect.....
Boundary Force would have helped take away the CPU players stepping out of bounds and Double Team effect would have been nice this year to help out the defensive low post play by the CPU.
The shooting sliders I'm seeing on the PC version tells me the game play must been quite different from the console version and PC version in terms of medium and long range shooting that's kinda odd unless EA did some things different with the shooting ratings.

isnt there a way to provide sliders as files? I am also working on them and I don't want to be copy pasting values.

I agree, it's really easy to penetrate as a user. Especially in transition. I've found that if you get a rebound, then pass it to the PG, and then turbo up the court, you will almost always get a layup or dunk. The CPU is able to do that as well. The transition defense is atrocious.
I've only played a few games using your setup. Have you tried increasing the game speed?
From what I've read, it's the same deal in the X-Box version of the game. The PGs and SGs are way too dominate. Especially on the CPU side. Even if the defense is set, the PG will be able to penetrate and score even when triple-teamed.
I was playing against the Clippers, and Sam Cassell would take the ball up the court, stand there for 10 seconds, then blow by me and dunk/layup over 3 of my big men. There's got to be a way to stop that. Maybe edit the player rankings, and increase defensive awareness for everybody?
I'll keep tinkering too, hopefully we'll be able to figure something out.

I have a question on free throw slider.
if the value of "FT diff" is lower does it mean the harder to hit FT?
and a higher value means easier to hit FT?
Thu Nov 15, 2007 7:08 pm
No it's exactly the other way...
The lower the difficulty, the easier you hit a free throw... and vice versa.
Fri Nov 16, 2007 11:45 am
does anyone know how to make slider files? i have decent sliders for 6-8 mins superstar. The surprising thing is that i had to turn UP the shooting sliders to 70 odd.. to make sure that the players actually play better..
looking at it overall, i think the major problem with this ai is too much penetration and no "desire" for jumpshots. so increasing the jumpshot percentage and decreasing the layup percentage SHOULD make the ai choose jumps over tough layups. im still working on them, but if i get a way to make files, i will post them here.
Fri Nov 16, 2007 4:56 pm
so altering the sliders would give better simulated figures?
like removing the guys with 40ppg?

For hardcore users...IMO, is very hard sliders! But i like it!

Hey Lagoa, I love your courts, but I tried your sliders, the game was too slow and Aldridge missed two straight open layups which were supposed to be dunks, I am now using default ones. Thanks anyway.

Sat Nov 24, 2007 6:15 pm
same here i want the more realistic slider
Sat Nov 24, 2007 6:19 pm
the slider is not realistic.. i missed 4x shot in the 3pt line with gilbert arenas im all alone. when im doing the GTM it will surely miss hahaha the whole game i did not make any GTM shoot...
Sat Nov 24, 2007 7:09 pm
there's a sticky thread for this already... no need to create a new topic.
