Talk about NBA Live 08 here.
Tue Oct 23, 2007 1:35 pm
The rosters in NBA LIVE 08 are crap!
Josh McRoberts - Portland rookie drafted at number 37 is rated 76.
Jarvis Critteton - Lakers rookie drafted at number 19 is rated 81.
Pops-Mensah-Bonso - Benchwarmer for Dallas is rated 75.
Walter Herrmann - Sophmore for Charlotte is rated 83.
Chris Webber - who is even on a roster right now is rated 88.
Daequan Cook - Rookie drafted at 21 is rated 85.
Morris Almond - Utah rookie drafted at 25 is rated 82.
Alando Tucker - Phoenix rookie drafted at 29 is rated 86.
Charlie Bell - Last years stats: 13ppg, 3rpg, 3apg. which arnt great stats but is rated 61.
I mean WTF is going on! and this is only some of the bad things with the rosters.
So I am pleading to Andrew our god of NLSC, to fix these rosters for the sake of NBA live 08.
Please everyone show support for this great cause.

Upload the roster dbf files so I can take a look. If they are similar enough, I can convert Andrew's latest, with his permission, to 08.
Tue Oct 23, 2007 2:23 pm
yeah that's what I was wondering too...if Andrew's latest 07 roster update would somehow work in 08
Tue Oct 23, 2007 2:51 pm
how do you upload stuff? and yes I know I'm an idoit

Use a site like sendspace and then post the link.

It is the same as the last couple years, with new fields at the end. Hotspots, go to moves and sig shots are all at the end of the file. Playerids are the same so, should be fairly easy Pdub.
No one is still around from days of yore, so they will not care, but I intend for a roster update this year.

Roster update is surely needed... Some rookies that aren't named Oden or Durant are rated better than the likes of Dwight Howard etc. It's pretty horrendous in this perspective...

The game is virtualy unplayable ! The ratings are extremely bad, there are no portraits, 90% of the players are missing, the music is terrible and the menu suxXx !!! The good news is that there is fatigue and auto subs, but that's not enough to make the game fun ... i don't get how Navarro' rating is 57 ???!!!
Tue Oct 23, 2007 5:57 pm
Cook at 85?
Tue Oct 23, 2007 6:17 pm
Milicic is 67
Tue Oct 23, 2007 6:25 pm
he's real rtg is even less

Anyone see Michael Jordan in the players dbf? Because he's in there.
They added classic teams to the dbf. Are they in game? I see classic Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Rockets, and Bulls.

Thanks for sharing the DBF.

I certainly intend on updating the rosters again this year as soon as I get my hands on the PC version.
Tue Oct 23, 2007 8:53 pm
not to mention some of the top rookie drafted are nowhere to be found. for example
Yi of Bucks is missing on bucks rosters, but can be found in the fiba world championship.
Scola and C. Hayes are not in houston rosters.
Rookies seems to be rated higher than most veteran players.
I believe the reason for ea sports to be constantly improving their NBA live version is to give the audience and customers a gameplay to be as close to the real life as possible. This time, EA sports seemed to have concentrated on the gameplay and forgot the rosters. I hope another version of NBA live 2008 for PS2 can come out.

The missing players are not a case of EA Sports forgetting to put them in. It's a matter of the cutoff dates being early and preventing some players from being included. The high ratings for some of the rookies is certainly an oversight though, but at least those can be edited on all versions.

On the PC version the cut off date was like July 23rd or something... End of July. So the rosters are pretty well messed up. And those rookies need to be shown the door... Come on... Rookies better than some teams go-to guys??? What's with that.

that would be swell benji, always liked your rosters the same as with Andrew's... especially the sweet, sweet classic teams incorporated in it...

i see it too Ryan, classic players even have their own PLAYERPKG... there are no classic teams in the teams.dbf though, it would be easy to add them up when we get the game ourselves, so the question really is if those classic players have faces, headshapes, jerseys, even courts in the art folder...

It looks as though some players from various championship teams have been included...Pippen is in there as well as Rodman and some other Bulls from the 1996 championship team. Players from the Rockets' 1995 championship team would appear to be in there too. Definitely a nice easter egg.

that's happened because of what he said at Eurobasket 07.. the EA's revenge..

The 67 rating for Milicic seems correct, he hasn't exactly played that well in the NBA. As for Herrmann, while the rating is probably 10 too high, he did have an awesome stretch last season where he posted some pretty spectacular numbers:
April: 19.9ppg & 5.6rpg.
The ratings are always a bit too high for players that are somewhat fundamentally sound.

Working backwards: 1996 Bulls, 1995 Rockets, 1989 Pistons, 1987 Lakers, 1986 Celtics, 1983 Sixers, 1979 Sonics, 1977 Blazers, 1972 Lakers (although they have Baylor starting for some reason), 1960s Celtics (did not bother to look at which year) are all in the players.dbf on team rosters. But they do not have teams in the teams.dbf.
I assume they attempted to get a license to put them in the game, but failed. As soon as this install finishes I will create the teams in the teams.dbf to see if they have logos/jerseys/etc.

so i had to say that i'm real dissapointed at this years edition of NBA Live..to look some positive thinks..atleast almost all the great patches for 07 work in this..
as far for the legends..i tried them..most of the speechid's don't work, no cf's, no portraits..so they could have been created by create-a-player, so nothing special there i think=(..i wasn't surprised because the rosters overall are a disaster this year..don't know the classic team jersey etc. graphics though..
EDIT:
No graphics at all for classic teams i see..luckily we have BAYAG's mod..it sure would've been 1000x better anyways than possible EA's try to create the teams.

HB Studios might "add" them in a later patch like they did for NHL 08.

but EA sports, having been developing nba live for a couple of years, should have forseen this, meaning, if cutoff dates were early, they could have placed the unsigned players on the FA pool, giving their customers a chance to complete the roster lineups of their favorite teams.
