Finally. Much thanks.

I got a question, ok i am good working with computers but not working with computer parts and stuff so can someone tell me how I find out if I have all this stuff[/b]

Great, they're planning on releasing patches with ActiveX again

Damn, just fucking keep it exe files. It saves much more trouble than ActiveX.

Tue Oct 07, 2003 8:50 am

If you're planning on running live 2004 on a rig like that then all you will be able to do is start up the game. It would run at like 1 fps or something..heh.

I'm suprised directx9a is a requirement...its not like live 2004 will use it's features will it?

Tue Oct 07, 2003 9:17 am

Doubt it will use any Dx9 features. If it does, prepare for a super slow game. All Dx9 games out right now run like crap: halo, tomb raider, the upcoming hl2..blah blah blah.

Anyways, who cares what the minimum requirements are. If you go by that, you'll never enjoy the game the way it's meant to be.

Madden 2004 doesn't run like crap on my computer and it's Dx9. I use the geforce ti 4600

Tue Oct 07, 2003 4:24 pm

that's not a DX9 graphic card.....

And DX9 graphic cards are not required i am positive of this....they're not required for any other game...and they sure won't be for a game that does't even use any of it's features...

the post did not say the game required a dx9 graphics card, only that it requires a dx9 compatible graphics card, i am confident that this only means that we need to install direct x 9 in our systems to be able to run the game, not that we need to buy nvdia geforce fx or ati radeon 9700 card.

by the way, my pc is a pIII 650 mhz oldie, and i run live 2003 in it, i was planing to upgrade but with the above specs, i'll postpone the upgrade til next year. graphics quality is not a priority with me, gameplay is, and with acceptable fps, even in the lowest quality, i still enjoy the game

never believe the "minimum requirement", thus requirement can let you "run" the game only, but not "play" the game

Tue Oct 07, 2003 11:32 pm

if u want to know the "actual requirement" to "play" the game, just multiply the speed and the memory specs by 2.

"- 600MHz Intel Pentium III or faster" (N) 447MHz Pentium II

    "- 128MB RAM or more" (Y) 384 MB RAM

"- Key-Board, Mouse" (Y) yesss. got that covered

hmmm. doesn't look to good for me :(

Wed Oct 08, 2003 12:03 am

well.. doesnt madden 2004 have low specs.. i mean the minimum cpu speed is at 700 mhz. but the graphics card requires at least a gf2 though gf2mx wont work.. as stated in the box... is this for real? do you think live and madden would have amost the same spec reqs?

Wed Oct 08, 2003 2:03 am

Nope the Madden series has always been optimized quite nicely for the pc's. Just look at last years. It worked fine on most people's computers, while Live 2003 choked like hell.

There's a difference between requiring dx9 and actually USING any dx9 features. Most new games always do that. They just require the latest dx version for whatever reason. Whether or not they're gonna use the REAL dx9 features (pixel shader 2.0, HDR lighting, etc.) is a whole other thing. IF they did, you can be sure that w/o turning down details to dx8.1 levels, a Geforce4 would choke since it's not a fully dx9 compliant card and cannot perform some of the features required by the dx9 spec.

As of right now, there are only a handful of games actually USING any dx9 features such as: tomb raider: angel of darkness, (a bit) of Halo, and a few others. Live 2004 does not look to be one of them. That's what i was getting at.

Wed Oct 08, 2003 2:35 am

"- 600MHz Intel Pentium III or faster" (Y) 800MHz Pentium III
"- 128MB RAM or more" (N) 64MB Ram  gotta fix this up :D

Wed Oct 08, 2003 4:56 am

*CPU
- 600MHz Intel Pentium III or faster | Celeron 633 (Y)
*Memory
- 128MB RAM or more | 256 MB RAM (Y)
*Video Card
- 32 MB DirectX 9 Compatible Video card | GeForce 2 MX400 64 MB (N)

This game should run on my computer. :P

Wed Oct 08, 2003 5:58 am

do u ppl think that it will work on my laptop, nhl 2004, madden 2004 work fine but if it says it needs a 32mb card and i have the ati mobililty radeon which i think is 16mb, it should work shouldnt it?

Wed Oct 08, 2003 7:54 am

Hey all you computer people, what does the RAM do for the game? I have 64 MB of RAM  , so I want to know what I can and can't do with the game.

Also, I have a pretty bad graphics card. It's made by Intel, but I could run Live 2001 under a Medium detail level. Do I have to upgrade, or can I play with this card?

Wed Oct 08, 2003 10:27 am

Yeah, I hope to HELL they optimize Live this year... Madden 2004 KICKS ASS at all the highest graphic levels (1.5 ghz, 640 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 8500), and Live 2003 seemed to not run as smoothly on my machine... It's pretty dumb to me that Madden runs like a jewel, but Live had a Little herky jerkiness (if those are words)....

Are you sure it's only a 16 meg mobility radeon? I didn't think there was such a thing.

more RAM generally speeds up loading times and prevents excessive disk access when you're actually playing. Disk access is not good when you're playing obviously because it causes stuttering.

Not sure. Download the demo when it comes out and try it. I doubt you'll be able to run at anything higher than minimum/low detail.

Wed Oct 08, 2003 7:09 pm

Uh oh...i have 553 Mhz...:? I hope i can play it..i'm really worried now...i can't afford a new CPU...

i recon u'll be able to run it on minimum settings,

i could run nbalive 2003 on my old computer (400mhz) when the requred processor was 450mhz, i just had to turn off selected details ie crowd and stuff....

oh wells, I should have no probably running this game on my new computer :)

Thu Oct 09, 2003 6:05 pm

Ah good. That's a relief...as long as i can actually PLAY it.. ha..

I might be gettin' a new CPU thingie :D. "PIII 1.0 Ghz 133 FBS". Tell me, is this a good thing? will it actually make the computer faster...i find it hard to believe...but i don't know shit. Wont somebody please reassure me?

hehe

Thu Oct 09, 2003 7:45 pm

well...
*CPU
- 600MHz Intel Pentium III or faster | P4 1600mhz (Y)
*Memory
- 128MB RAM or more | 512 MB RAM (Y)
*Video Card
- 32 MB DirectX 9 Compatible Video card | GeForce 2 MX400 64 MB (N)
may it work good on maximum detail ?

Thu Oct 09, 2003 7:48 pm

With that videocard you will not be able to play at Max Detail, maybe you should buy a new one,the ATI Radeon 9500 or 9600Pro are great and they are not that expensive.
