WHo Should Do Games IF EA don't step up more in NBA Live

Wed Apr 11, 2007 12:53 pm

I thought about this and I'm surprised that ABC hasn't tried to make video games based on the NBA looking more realistic with Hubie Brown as one of the announcers in the game. Have these features

1) GM Mode- Multiplayer mode, signings, drafting, trading picks on draft night, signing coaches, scouts, setting ticket prices to games.

2) Expansion Mode- add up to six more teams in the nba from a list of cities listed.

3) Other Features- 1 on 1, 2on 2, 3 on 3, 4 on 4 and 5 on 5 scouting. Summer League to see rookies play and scouting giving reports on it. Showing Draft Lists For every year you play as GM, Biggest lead for each team after every quarter, show how well a top star stats against each team it plays against. (i.e. Celtics Paul Pierce stats vs Raptors) , announced rookies first and last name in starting lineup. Save in the middle of game and can come back to it later

4) All Star Weekend- Slam Dunk, 3PT, Rookies VS Sophomores

this is just an idea and some features I think that should be in a game. I'm not saying NBA Live is totally bad but I don't think they listen to there fans as well as they should. I think if they did they would sell more games. So what would you think of this happening?

I don't think a television network is likely to be looking to produce a video game, though their broadcasting team could appear in one if both sides show interest and can reach an agreement. Any developer willing and able to acquire the NBA license could provide an alternative to the NBA Live series, Take Two/2K Sports of course is doing it on an annual basis.

Microsoft used to make a NBA game for the PC and the Xbox, there should be a link to the demo in that thread.

Why? I'm not against a wider choice of NBA games on the market but I don't think Microsoft is necessarily the answer. It's not as though their software has a reputation for being perfect or bug-free, despite its widespread use.

2k sports is also imperfect.. Do they have the 2on2,3on3, and other features? It seems like you highly favor the 2k series man.

How about THQ? Or Midway?

Yeah,THQ is not bad.

I've always thought that Rare should get into sports games.

Why not people that can actually make good regular games or more importantly, have some sports game experience? Especially if they have made good basketball games before.

Those are certainly two developers who have released some quality products but THQ seems to draw the ire of consumers as much as EA/EA Sports, at least when it comes to their WWE games. A lot of the criticisms of the Smackdown!/SDvRAW series are very similar to the complaints about the NBA Live series.

That's not to say they couldn't develop a quality basketball game, but I don't think any company is guaranteed to deliver the "perfect" basketball sim.

If you look back a few years to Dreamcast, NBA2k1 and i believe 2k2 both had 2 on 2 and 3 on 3 modes...it was in street mode but you could easily turn on fouls and make it just like a regular game.
