It is all of EA not just EA Sports.

Why don't you try searching the in-game menus, hmmm? I rented the game yesterday, and it took me all of 2 minutes to find the player editing function.

dude its not , you go to it but it wont let edit anything its got big locks on it..

Definately. I'm actually really happy to hear it though. I don't know (if I get Live 08, unlikely, but still) if I could handle another year of Kobe averaging 23PPG and still leading the league in scoring. I don't think I could handle another year of Steve Nash and Jason Kidd averaging 6APG either.

I'm happy players are overscoring, because that means with the sim engine we can tone it down a little. Having 2 players at or above 30PPG would be about right.

One thing I hate about the Live sim engine over the past few years has been the difference in PPG. It's so incredibly small. There will be 25 players averaging at least 20PPG, which is realistic (there were 26 last season), but none of them will over 24PPG or so. This is really frustrating, because we have 25 guys putting up basically the same scoring numbers. In the real NBA, the difference netween the top scorer and the lowest scorer with at least 20PPG was 11.6PPG. In Live, you'd be lucky to have a difference of 4PPG.

That's been something that I've always hated about Live, because everything I've tried with the sim engine hasn't done much to effect the differences between scoring numbers.

That's what I'm thinking, it should hopefully be easier to tone down the scoring than it was to try and increase it in NBA Live 06 and NBA Live 07. Once you up someone's primacy rating to 99 and given them offensive ratings that should make them a force in gameplay and simulation you kind of hit a wall but if players who have 99 for primacy in NBA Live 08 have scoring averages that are too high then we've got somewhere to go.

How about 7.5?

JaoSming simulated about 50 games of a dynasty or a season i forget which one.

PPG - 40
FG% - .618
3P% - .728 - The leaders in 3pt attempts took over 10 3's a game
FT% - .928 - Leaders attempted about 6 per game.
ORB - 1.7
DRB - 5.7
REB - 7.3
BLK - 0.68
STL - 0.75
AST - 7.5 (1-Webber, 2-KG, 3-A. Miller, 4-Shaq, 5-Duncan, 6-Ming, 7-Howard..see the trend?) This is the biggest problem that I can see. Hopefully it's just the roster or some ratings oversite.

I can fix most of the stuff, but I don't know about those assist leaders. I can make the numbers realistic like Chris_23 did last year, but it might take some major rating adjustments to get the proper players in the leaders, I don't know.

i have also played the ps2 version, and i saw those rookies having very high ratings alando tucker, josh mcroberts of the blazers is an 89. very disturbing.
another bug that i have encoutered is the number of the players, like with regards to the orlando magic roster, they have 2 players wearing no 7, rashard lewis and jj redick. also rashard lewis' shoe is still green that is partnered with his jersey with seattle.

greg oden's number should be 52 not 20

This has really frustrated me. I would have thought that after all that went wrong they would have taken a little more time to fix the easy stuff. Its like each year, they only fix the biggest problem with the game and then say f*ck the rest of it. I'm really, really, conflicted as to whether I should spend my cash on another NBA live WIP.

That's not a bug per se, rather an oversight entering the player data. It's a mistake nevertheless, but fortunately one that can be corrected easily. :)

How is the loose ball grabbing? In last years game the player would literally run in a circle around a loose rebound or steal.

This applies to rebounding too, jumping in the wrong direction and giving up too many offensive boards.

Any opinions on whether these aspects of the game have been improved or not?

Fri Oct 12, 2007 2:28 pm

One thing also is that one dunk scenario where a deffensive player posts in front of the driving player, they stuck together, and then the two of them falls down :| .. It is common in 07..
Inside or within the paint its just fine, but outside, its rediculous, since nobody would try a dunk when he's that distant from the rim.. This happens even just a step past the 3pt. line...
And yes, i played it on my PS2... Hope other consoles don't have this glitch..

Fri Oct 12, 2007 7:30 pm

i think EA really rushed the game. since all the rookies have no portraits.. and the ratings of the rookies are similar to the dynasty drafts of nba live 07 if it has a very strong draft class lol... and alot of members of the nba players association are missing... funny that Joakim noah is not in the game where he contributed to it by MoCap... also at the ps2 version if u play against the AI the game runs smoothly but if u go head 2 head with another player (not online) the game starts to slow down.

In my opinion this is still a problem, albeit not as severe as in years past. Far to many times I'll have 3 of my players around a rebound and one player from the opposing team. The ball manages to HIT the ground and miraculously wind up in the hands of the one opposing player. It's not as bad as in years past but it's still a bit of a problem. Has anyone else found this to be true?

I ran into a big issue

No matter what I do, sign out, continue without saving, deleting previous saves, clearing the cache ect ect, the game gives me a "can not read disc" error right before it loads the practice gym on the 360 version.

The only way to fix it is to remove the harddrive....gehay.

EA wants me to return the disc.....gehayer.

I have a RIDICULOUS Bug here!

If i call timeout with MIAMI HEAT...game CRASH and close to windows!

Wed Oct 24, 2007 1:17 am

The game crashes badly... The slam dunks aren't actually slam dunks, cuz the player drops the ball... And the sound is like... baangg... like he dunks the ball... but he doesn't actually dunks the ball.

Wed Oct 24, 2007 2:05 am

PLEASE!

ALL GUYS with NBA Live 08...test this for me! Play with Miami Heat, or Atlanta...in game, first possession....call timeout!

My game crashes!

Wed Oct 24, 2007 2:13 am

Lagoa, does it crash for any other team?

If people are utilizing the Hatred release, the game will crash when a time out is called or at the end of the first quarter.

Wed Oct 24, 2007 2:45 am

The game crashes on any occasions... EA fucked up again ;)

Wed Oct 24, 2007 7:30 am

Man...

After see CRASH and SIMULATION ENGINE....IMO:

EA made one game WORST than Live 07! OMG!

Wed Oct 24, 2007 8:47 am

Not really a bug, but an oversight, perhaps it is on my part however. I do not see where I can alter my roster rotation in Dynasty. (PC)

Wed Oct 24, 2007 10:09 am

dam is worst from what i see and hear. i hope i didnt throw my $45 down the drain again for a fucked up game. crash after 1st quarter. U GOT TO BE SHITTIN. thats quicker than the live 07 worst bug ever sounds like

Has anyone tried using the 'cutscene' files from previous versions? This crash seems to be entirely about a cutscene not being able to be loaded and thus resulting in a crash. If the developers did not add any new cutscenes, it can be entirely likely that one of the cutscenes is simply broken, and since there was a patch of some soft for 07 that utilized cutscenes from previous title, it may possibly fix the crashing issue for 08.

Worth a shot.
