The requirements posted here are still subject to confirmation but would seem to be in the ballpark.

you will probably find that in the next 24 months things will change for us pc users, quite simply because the pc will head into era where it's basic spec's will be more powerful than a next gen console.

Firstly with Microsoft doing an "EA" with "vista" they will now release another OS in 2009-2010, which is what vista should have been. With directx 10 games, the pc will change to a next gen look as seen with games like Crysis for vista already.
What the PC Market is doing is sitting back and waiting to see if average PC user conforms to to the new OS or at least Vista so directx 10 is a unified base to create games for. Microsoft as also stated that it will push its "Games for Windows" brand to support this.

Secondly I think were finally at a stage where technology in Cpu and graphics cards are about to accelerate so frequently that the console market will have to release a new system each year to keep up with pc specs, after all a console is a PC Game machine in a pretty box.
With the PC market already heading into quad core cpu, "which the xbox360 only has a tri core cpu", its already outdone by the top PC specs.
Probably by the time of writing this there will some announcement that quad core again will be outdone with intel and amd duking it out for supremacy.

As i mentioned before the console market can combat this by releasing newer updated consoles, but i don't think the gaming community is willing to shell out $500-$1000 each and every year for new consoles. With the fact that PC hardware gets faster a cheaper it will be far easier and cost effective for the average PC user to update his specs as is required to play the newest top notch games.

As Andrew has mentioned before until current gen consoles like the xbox and ps2 faze out, which will probably be in the next couple of years, game
developers will port next gen games to the PC as the average OS and specs will support such a move.

So dont worry PC users, our time is coming, the next gen consoles are far from perfect, especially when game developers release crap that cant be edited or fixed by a patch like the PC can.

I used a 9800pro for almost 2 years, loved every second of it. I was one of the lucky ones who purchased the pro that had the RV360 core instead of the RV350, so I softmodded it to an XT. It was giving the stock 6800 a run for its money on most benchmarks. Plus it had a lower power draw than the nvidia 6 series. A prescott 2.4ghz p4, 1 gig of ddr400, the 9800, 2 hds and a dvd burner all on a 350 watt psu. Budget ballin!

I'm using a 9800 pro too. I'll give EA this: their games have minimal graphic demands (probably cause the graphics suck compared to First Person Shooters and the like). Every year's Live requires the same minimum reqs - like a Pentium 133mhz or some junk. A complete waste if you have a powerhouse machine.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Far Cry has incredible graphics and good gameplay. If I'm forced to choose one, then yeah, gameplay it is. But that doesn't mean I want to play with Tetris-like graphics.

Who the hell plays sports games on consoles?!It's stupid if you ask me....

Not to start a console vs. pc war but here are my reasons for hating console games:


1) No patching to fix errors.

2) no roster updates downloadable

3) no "no CD" patches. Insert that disc everytime you play, bitch!

4) controllers suck - you have to use the default one that came with the console as all console controllers are virtually the same layout

5) No mods

6) No keyboard - that's right, use those stupid triangle/square/X buttons to key in your user name lame-o

7) first person shooters - how the hell do you aim/shoot with an analog stick?

8) The video output for most consoles is a shitty interface and the resolution is shitty. HD gaming is only just now being introduced while we've had 1600 x 1200 for years already.

9) Finally, most console games just plain suck. C'mon "Sonic the Hedgehog?" I absolutely hate these gay colorful and bright fake-ass fantasy games. Who buys these things, people with ADD? I like my games as real to life as possible. I wanna be shooting al Qaeda scum, not some pink blinking snake.

Why people keep persisting saying that consoles are better than pc when we all they aren't.
My computer owns any console out on the market anyway like I said in another topic I expect nothing exceptional from EA this year. 08 is going to be another stinking crap, so why y'all keep hoping that the game's gon be dope.

Actually thats wrong, for the next gen consoles it IS possible to download fix patches and roster updates. And, people like next gen consoles better because the game is better made for the consoles.

My point exactly. Whoever thought it was a good idea to use a controller for a FPS should be shot.

Just remember this, even if they port the 360 version it might suck. I mean look at MOH: Airborne a 360 port POS! (with 360 limitations) Multiplayer is a crappy 360 version with only 12 players in a game.

I'm not a console player myself, but this is just plain ignorant... There are plenty of games exclusively for consoles that are probably as fun or just as fun as games that are on the PC. You're just not used to using a controller, that's all.
