One day I'll get up at 8am, then just not sleep till 10am the next day. It's not lie insomnia, I just don't get tired.

I do the same fucking thing.
I also don't get tired.
I don't know if it's DSPS as Shannon says it.
I thought it was just insomnia. :?:

Doesn't help at all. Even tried browsing the NLSC for some threads to kill time.

Yes, I know that feeling of euphoria. (Y)

Good to know that I'm not the only owl freak that I know of.

I'm pretty sure Andrew has infected us all with some sort of insomnia-enducing serum.

That's not going to work.

t3h wikipedia wrote:In humans, melatonin is produced by the pineal gland, a gland about the size of a pea, that is located in the center of the brain, on the dorsal surface of diencephalon. The melatonin signal forms part of the system that regulates the circadian cycle, but it is the Central nervous system that controls the daily cycle in most components of the paracrine and endocrine systems rather than the melatonin signal (as was once postulated).

Normally, the production of melatonin by the pineal gland is inhibited by light and permitted by darkness. For this reason melatonin has been called "the hormone of darkness."

Looking at monitors = takes longer to fall asleep = cruel

This thread makes me wonder if I have some kind of weird sleeping condition myself. I never sleep for more than four hours a day and I'm never tired when I wake up . Though I just can't fall a sleep right away . It doesn't matter if I go to bed at 10 pm or at 2 am in the morning. I always need two, three hours to fall asleep and if I don't fall asleep then its movie or tv show time for me. I should try some sleeping pills or something.

And lol at shadows poem like writing.

^Four hours...that's ridiculous. I would be fucked up if I got that little sleep. I may have a messed up sleep schedule but I still need my sleep. I can seriously hibernate. I slept about 17 hours one day. That was one of the few times when getting out of bed was no problem and I seriously felt rejuvenated after getting up...too bad it was nightime when I woke.

Sat Oct 06, 2007 3:53 am

Yea lately I've been sleeping an average of like 12 hours a night. Normally sleeping really late but waking up really late as well. Never slept 17 hours but I have slept somewhere along the line of 15 hours. My problem was that I was to lazy to get up so I think I stayed in bed ALL day.

Doobie, are you depressed?

Sat Oct 06, 2007 4:42 am

Gundy wrote:Sleep is kind of a problem for me. I'm addicted to staying up very late. This really fucks me up during school. The worst part of it is that I'm not even doing homework or anything. I'm addicted to not doing schoolwork at home. Everyday after school I take a 5 hour nap (unless I have to work), wake up, procrastinate 5 hours, go to sleep late, wake up and be tired all day at school, get home, take nap, and so on. It's a vicious cycle.

I do that too. A lot. But then there's some days I don't feel tired when I get home from school, so by 7 PM I'm dead tired, go to bed and wake up at 5 AM, play guitar and wake up everybody, lol.

I'm also addicted to not doing homework; Most of the times I do it at school, during Spanish or English classes (or any other class where I don't need to pay attention to the teacher/lesson.)

Now my doctor said that I won't grow much more if I keep doing that, so, since I'm obsessed with height, I'm trying to get normal sleep. But once I slept for almost a day, like 20-22 hours. I hadn't slept in like two whole days, though. I went to bed at 9 AM and woke up at 6 or 7 AM of the day after.

Another sleep related problem I seem to encounter is that, sometimes, I go to bed and I just won't fall asleep. I mean, I'm tired as fuck, my eyes all red, but I just can't sleep.

Most of the times it happens that I go to bed at 11 but I just don't fall asleep until 6, and at 7 I have to wake up. It's really annoying. I'm in bad mood the whole day when it happens.

Sat Oct 06, 2007 5:14 am

School nights, I have no problem at all falling asleep. I can be just a little tired and I will fall asleep in minutes. During summer and on weekends, I have a big problem falling asleep. I will just lay in bed for hours and my head will be all hazy but I won't fall asleep. I believe that it's all mental. If you're not looking forward to the next day or just generally don't care, it's easier to fall asleep. If you can't wait for the next day or you are anxious about it than it's much harder to fall asleep. That's just my experience thoguh...

Sat Oct 06, 2007 5:19 am

How the hell can you guys sleep so much? I don't think I ever slept for more than 12 hours and that was after a 5 day hiking trip .

I can relate to not falling asleep as I said earlier. I just lay there, listen to my mp4 and beg god that I can sleep for once. When I do sleep it goes by in like a second.. boom, I'm already awake and ready for the day.

Everybody's body works differently I suppose...

Sat Oct 06, 2007 6:44 am

Something like 13-16 hours is optimal sleeping time.

Sat Oct 06, 2007 7:18 am

I used to not fall asleep until an hour or two after i went to bed, and i hated it. Now, i go to this special sports school, and im really exhausted in the evenings, so now i fall asleep 5 mins. after i go to bed :)

I'm suprised no one has mentioned the misspelled title.

Ahem

I tried staying up all last night and then going to sleep at about 6 pm, hopefully waking up around 9am and getting my body clock back in order. I think I woke up around 4.30pm. :(

Still doesn't beat my record of 31 and a half hours.
