The Live 08 Bugs & Glitches Thread

Wed Oct 03, 2007 3:49 am

Use this thread to make mention of all bugs and glitches seen in all versions of Live 08.

So far for the PS2, pdub and I have noticed.
Shoe glitch (home away shoes) remains.
Still some major AI glitches, but not as bad as last year.
The Simulation engine is wacked.

Yeah, one friend play NBA Live 08 for ps2....

He says:

Game is better than last year...but simulation stats ARE RIDICULOUS!

Points have:

Dirk: 39ppg
T-Mac: 38ppg
Kobe: 38ppg

+ than 10 players with 30ppg :?

And ASSISTS....leaders is: Shaq, Duncan, Oden...with, 7, 8 assists! :|

Well, at least the Home/Away shoes bug found a solution (by Pdub, I think)... Maybe that will work for the LIVE 08 PC version. I'm curious, though... What kind of AI glitches??? That sounds scary...

some standing underneath the basket, staying in the backcourt until 7 seconds then passing up, some other "stalling" issues where they stand there until the shot clock withers down.

at least its not point guard drive drive layup (well, Gilbert Arenas does that, but thats a good thing)

Phew! You had me worried, homie! And, yes, Arenas SHOULD do that. :)

again for the PS2, for point guards who are able to have the "playmaker" goto moves, it doesnt look like the user can do these moves normally. The CPU does the PM passing all the time but the user only can when attempting an Alley-oop; which causes a mis-timed play most of the time. If this is the case for the PC version, have no fear, it should be an easy fix.

is it ture we cant editi players on the 360 version????

Wed Oct 03, 2007 8:43 am

it seems every ea sports game that is released now is filled with bugs, are they trying to ruin the company or what?

Wed Oct 03, 2007 11:06 am

any bugs for the psp version?

Sounds like scoring has gone from one extreme to the other. In recent years stars haven't scored enough but up around 40 ppg is far too much. Glad to hear that there's no problems with fatigue/substitution though.

andrew , can try to find out about the player editing with the 360 verison and what they plan on doing to fix it.

I played a couple more games on the PS2 version and this is not the case anymore. I had plenty of PM passing today, maybe it was just doing something wrong before.

in the ps3 version, sometimes when they do a layup, the ball goes straight up through the glass as if it weren't there. also, when the PG or anyone dribbles up court and then backs down on a bigger man near half court and gets pushed back into the back court it's not a back court violation.

I'm not entirely sure if this is a glitch, but I've seen this in 360's and PS3's demo and final version, the alley-oop trajectory is ridiculously high. Has anyone else noticed that and is bothered by that? The only reason I'm a little bothered by it is because in one of those NBA Live 08 episodes on NBA.com or Marketplace, one of the developers stressed improved trajectory. I know I'm being nitpicky but it's sometimes disheartening when developers say one thing and the game does something else (especially in such a fragile state of the franchise 'cause of Live 07). I've already accepted that Live 08 is a work in progress and that EA is finally back on track but I just wanted to get the community's opinion.

My $0.02

they meant shot trajectory. one clip video showed clips of teardrop jumpshots from 07. some passes in 08 are really high.

Lol, this was my second game playing live.........and you wouldnt believe what just happend to me. I am playing the PS2 version online..............and the damn CPU started playing my game for me     .

I started to pick a team, then all of a sudden the game picked its own team...........started playing the game and had the nerve to wait on me to press X for the game to continue.

Lol........this is hilarious...........I was beginning to like the offline play.....but my goodness.......cpu interruption is not pleasant  .

a friend told me when he played the game on the ps2 said when he checked the default roster of the phoenix suns, he saw Alando Tucker rated as 86 or a rating close to that

Sat Oct 06, 2007 12:44 am

When I was playing France vs. Cavaliers on the PS2 as the Cavaliers Lebron was on Peitrus and Peitrus did a jump-stop and went right through Lebron and scored the dunk.

Sat Oct 06, 2007 1:45 am

I haven't completely investigated to find out what is triggering it, but (on the Xbox360 version, at least), the 'circle' under the player you're controlling disappears. I'm pretty sure it's when you make a substitution, because it doesn't usually happen to me when I'm playing an online game (no fatigue, grrr, but that's a seperate complaint).

Sat Oct 06, 2007 10:20 am

ummm just got back from playing 08 on PS2 at a mates place.....there was about 5 rookies with ridiculous ratings:
Alando Tucker was 86 overall
Daequan Cook was 85
and a few others were like 83

Any one else notice this or have it happen on there game?

Sat Oct 06, 2007 10:31 am

on xbxo 360 the player indicator just went off on me and it didnt oome back for any games after that. i hope it will be there towmorrow, cause its hard as hell not knowing who you are on D

Sat Oct 06, 2007 3:09 pm

^^ that happened to me, but they returned after I restarted the console

Also there' is an out of bounds glitch too, they should fix that aswell

Online Glitches

Sat Oct 06, 2007 3:24 pm

Well, I only play this game online. I have played on the PC '03-'07 and i jus recently got a 360 becasue i got tired of being shorted on the tech.
so long story short...people online can disconnect the game without any penalty when they are losing. last year on the pc version it was so bad that they could make you lose even when you were winning with this error. why can ea not fix this "connection has been lost" error since '03. I have played the competitor's product and ANY unauthorized disconnect activity will result in aloss for teh violator EVERY time. I mean does EA server/TCIP implementation suck that badly? these people are HIGHLY paid professionals. wow.

I've also experienced the player indicators disappearing. They do come back after you reset the console.

I didnt read in here before starting this thread "Problem with names dissapearing" so you may keep an eye on that thread too.

Why don't you try searching the in-game menus, hmmm? I rented the game yesterday, and it took me all of 2 minutes to find the player editing function.
