9.6 / 10

Damn I need to join the rest of the world and pick up one of those 360 things

Tue Sep 25, 2007 3:56 pm

My friend got it on midnight and he said the game is madd. I might be thinking of getting it or 2K8.

Tue Sep 25, 2007 7:41 pm

i just came back from a midnight shift. there were like 40 people outside and we got shipped 750 copies.

even if I still had a 360, I wouldn't touch the game, but I just want to know what the fuss is about....I would like to know what this game offers to the single player....forget online play....that's not what I'm asking....what does the game offer single player experience wise versus say Gears of War, which I have played & did like....

doesn't seem like the console moving game that many hyped it to be, based on readings....I could be wrong though....why is this game better than Gears of War or Call of Duty?!?

Yeah im not sure what all the fuss is about either. Honestly the game is probably worth getting for the online multiplayer battles, but today i went against the flow and bought 2 good cheap games in Gears and Table Tennis for the price of Halo 3...

Lol the review you showed gave it 8.9 out of 10, which isnt bad at all.

But to say what does it have different? The speed of the game, the basic concept of space (spacing is critical in shooting games eg if i have a close combat weapon like a shotgun, im trying to move closer to my enemy), the non stop action throughout the campaign, the MP system with party and matchmaking.

It's easy to be vague and classify one game as being no different to another in a genre. But I could say "whats different" about college hoops and nba live. You could say the players and rules, and i could say well does that make a huge impact. To you it would, as you're a more devoted fan of the sport/ genre then a casual fan. But thats no real different then the millions of halo geeks out there who are dedicated to their genre and you remain a casual fan.

But I get the feeling your post was nothing more then an attention grab "o0o look at me i dont like halo" because why would you said you "wouldn't touch the game" but then seem so curious about it. If you were genuinely so disinterested, you wouldn't care what the difference was.

And Scotty, theres no shame in getting gears instead. Gears is an awesome, awesome game.

But Halo 3 is better ;)

I might pick it up. . .For the Hell of it

Wed Sep 26, 2007 4:04 am

It's coming to me in the mail for the hell of it - got it for only $50.48 shipped. I really have no use for the series but it seems fun enough and there will never be a shortage of people to play with.

I just got halo 3, so far single player is pretty boring. Its not nearly on the level of GOW or bioshock is. But i think everyone who buys this game knows the true life in the game is in the multiplayer online mode.

read into my post however you like, but thank you for answering my question....Halo's strength of other FPS games is its speed, spacing & other aspects....I'm not a huge fan of the FPS genre, & just have a dabble every now & then, so didn't really know what the difference was about....

I was a bit hasty in what I said about not touching the game if I still had a 360....I probably would get it when it became a classic or was on special & after I finished Gears & COD games....

so how would everyone rate Gears, COD, Halo & all the other FPS on the market in order?!? it might help some other casual FPS players....

as for college hoops, yep, there is virtually no difference between it & nba 2k series....only slight & subtle team versus individual based differences....if someone wasn't a huge fan of college basketball & just a casual basketball fan, I'd steer them away from college hoops & towards nba 2k series....all that being said, even as a fan of the college hoops series & nba series, hopefully they show some significant improvement, otherwise I might skip them both this year....

ok in order i'll rank them

SP:
1. Gears of War
2. Halo 3
3. COD (obviously not cod 4 because its not out yet)

MP
1. Halo 3 (not even close, halo 2 is number 2)
2. COD 4 (Played the beta)
3. Gears

Overall:
1. Halo 3
2. Gears of War
3. COD

Obviously this ranking is subject to change when cod4 gets released.

Halo is amazing...I forgot how amazing the multiplayer is...

Thu Sep 27, 2007 3:20 pm

Damn, even that is supposed to be "funny," the physics and how that game looks appears incredibly fun. Man, consoles have come a long way that I didn't even bother looking at the improvements at technology

Mon Oct 01, 2007 7:33 am

I just picked up Halo at EBGames and it is frecking amazing. If you have a 360 you should get this game.

My roommates 360 doesn't run the game, get's disc is unreadable error. All other games run fine :| We're getting a new harddrive, I hope that solves the issue and we get to finish the fight! :P

Does it actually work without the hard drive, if not i dont think that would be the problem.
