Need Help Buying Present for Girlfriends 21st Birthday

Mon Sep 17, 2007 12:35 pm

Okay, people I need a bit of urgent advice.

Here the situation as it presently stands. I have already bought my GF tickets to go see Elton John in December at Werribee Mansion. Pretty cool, right.

Now I was also going to pick her up a new (chubby) Ipod Nano. I was waiting for the new models to come into stock (due this week) when I got a message last night from my girls sister saying that her and her brother have bought her an mp3 player. So now I'm stuck on ideas of what to get!!!!

My current thinking is along the lines of these:
Firstly, I was going to book accomodation HERE for the night before the concert, which looks like a nice place and is a reasonable price. The only problem is I know she wants to recieve something on her 21st that is a keepsake. So I would need to get something else nice to go along with it.

Second option: We've both been talking about getting a Nintendo DS for a while, so I could pick her up one with a game or 2. Problem is I don't want her to think that this is a present for me as well as her. Maybe if I got her the pink one the problem would be solved (and I could just play it hidden from the public until I can afford to get one of my own).

I like the second option more, especially if I couple it with a nice (but inexpensive) ring or necklace.

What do you guys think? Any other ideas?

You don't think tickets to Elton John is enough lol? They can't have been cheap.

DS + Elite Beat Agents and Cooking Mama/Princess Peach. If she wants a DS and is not a "real" gamer (but likes video games), trust me.

Been together for nearly 3 years though, and she spent quite a bit on me for my 21st (which is probably the measuring stick in her mind). Plus I get to go see Elton John.

Get her a Wii, lol

Um, DS is a good idea if she is honestly interested in it. As for jewelry, if you are low on funds or want to get a big present and still want to give her jewelry, hit up Walmart :D it looks the same (to me it does at least). My girl doesnt mind fake jewelry because she can wear it all the time and not have to worry about losing it (god i love her).

Other than that, I don't really know what to tell you cause i dont know what your gf is interested in.

At various points you will find life-imitates-art examples for the DS situation.

Was gonna say a six pack would do it, but since you're from Australia, go with some jewelry thats not very expensive...ah shit i suck at picking presents :(

Post edited. Borderline, but don't post that sort of stuff please.

Go with the pink DS Lite along with Cooking Mama and Princess Peach, as Ben said. Girls love it.

lol the wii video was hilarious, especially the look on the guys face at the end... Wii Porn pwns.

You already had some great ideas TY-Land, if she wants a keepsake, id say maybe hold off on the DS and get her a gold anklet or something, a small trinket-ish piece of jewelry. That way you dont break the bank on the jewelry, its more of something to remember the entire weekend by. give her the necklace at the concert when she isnt paying attention to you. You'll be a hero. 8-)

Get her a new boyfriend who knows what she wants.

:cheeky:

Looks like her birthstone is a Sapphire if she was born in September. Get her one.

I second that. Can't go wrong with flowers, especially gold or platinum dipped ones.

If she's the kind of girlfriend who likes to do things together (I bought Planet Earth as part of my gf's birthday present, and I was worried that it would be a "for us" thing, but she loves it), then she'd love a Nintendo DS if she really wants one.

Thanks for the advice etc.

Got her a nice ring to go with the EJ tickets. Pretty sure she will like it! Now I just have to hide it till her party on friday.

Tue Sep 18, 2007 8:21 pm

Hide it in your underwear. She'll never find it.

(Yes, I know that was rude but that was opportunity knocking, how would I turn my back on it?)

Sauru, that dipped rose is bad ass. I just picked out a gold one to have sent to the girl I've been dating for the past few months. Good stuff.

Yup, flowers and maybe an hour or 2 at the spa, that's usually a safe choice.

Thu Sep 20, 2007 8:31 am

yeah treating your girl to a day at the spa is a great thing indeed
