imo they need to trade iverson anyway, i dont think they will, they will want to give it a full season with melo and ai together to see what happens but after another failed season they will try to unload him and his stock will be down. thats my prediction anyway
Tue Jun 05, 2007 1:55 pm
Yeah although i love having AI in Denver colours, I just dont think he fits this team or is really needed to make them a contender, the Nuggets management are just stupid they dont understand that our current playing style will never win a championship, hence why Phoenix havent won one with their style which is similar to ours. I think we need to rebuild by trading or releasing everyone but Smith, Melo, Blake, Nene, Kleiza and maybe Diawara, we need a lot more defensive players mainly guards and maybe a defensive stopper like a Bowen or Artest. I wanna see Melo being the number one option on offense and Smith number 2 and the whole team playing strong intimidating defense like the Spurs.
This could take 3-4 years to happen but i think if we start now, not much will be lost, Melo is still young at 22 and Smith the same i hope to see this duo build into something of Jordan, Pippen chemistry wise so they know what each other player is going to do and where to go etc. this was beginning to happen early in the season but Iverson doomed those chances and made Smith into a bench player again. I was hoping for it to happen with Iverson and Melo but it doesnt look like the case.
I just hope Denver doesnt turn into the next Knicks, something has to happen this offseason and something good.

Yikes JR Smith was just in a pretty serious car crash, hope he's alright, although I hated his attitude sometimes during the season, he's always been a fun young player to watch.
Sun Jun 10, 2007 2:36 pm
I wouldn't be suprised if Smith did something stupid to cause the whole thing, but I hope he's alright. I'm still pulling for the guy to stop acting like a fucktard (perfect example was in the playoffs when he jacked up those threes) and start using his athletic gifts.

^ Its asdf, JR went through a stop sign (i saw the story earlier today)

I hope JR and everyone else in the accident recovers.
Don't worry bout the trade offer, Denver laughed in the face of LA at the offer

Denver Post wrote:Word is the Nuggets laughed at the Lakers last week when they called dangling butter-fingered big man Kwame Brown for Marcus Camby

Also i don't know why so many people want to trade Camby. I fucken love Camby, K-Mart needs to go, no questions asked
I wish we still had Andre Miller
He was a true PG
Sun Jun 10, 2007 4:48 pm
its because camby is the only guy anyone REALLY wants. i mean, forgive the pun, but who in the hell wants kmart? nene's stock may have went up, but his salary is a fright. jr seems lethargic at times
that said it would be stupid to trade camby, he doesn't anchor their defense... he IS their defense (which is why he won his dpoy.... which I think he should not have won). the best bet is to trade ai to memphis, maybe for miller and stuff. maybe a pg in a 3 way? or perhaps mighty mouse can be reinvigorated, though i doubt it.

When healthy K-mart is a valid member to the Nuggets but that rarely happens, same with Camby, if we had a healthy season we would be a much better team, its seems every year someone gets majorly injured,
05- Voshon Lenard Missed whole season after he was in great form
06 - Nene missed whole season slowing his development
07 - K-mart missing full season and Nene always injured causing lack of big men.
i wonder who it will be in 08....
On another note shame to hear about Smith i hope hes alright im expecting big things from this upcoming season.

No big move for the nuggets this summer, it will be difficult to improve
BTW, one transaction : DerMarr has signed in Italy with Benetton Treviso.
& One rumor : Evans to Orlando for Dooling

What about Chucky Atkins, that's the only thing that's happened to us, who cares about DJ?

I care about Dermarr Johnson.
Nuggets are going 5-77 without Dermarr Johnson.

Agreed. DerMarr should be MVP every year.

For Bennito Treviso.
Its_asdf, yeah...bit off there buddy, more like 45-37 to 50-32.

UPDATES:
We waved Anthony Carter, then signed him again 2 days later
Nene is out for 4-6 weeks with a strained Calf from the Bronze Medal Game, which means K-Mart Might start
Melo played unbelievably well for Team USA in the FIBA Americas so hopefully he carries it into the next season...
That's pretty much it, cause i've already mentioned Chucky Atkins...
Tue Sep 04, 2007 2:08 am
Wow I completely forgot about K-Mart. How goes his recovery?
Tue Sep 04, 2007 4:35 am
He's back. K-Mart is going to play 3 games for us this season

... and then get another knee injury...
Tue Sep 04, 2007 7:29 pm
Damn i was hoping for Nene to have a full uninterrupted season this season and he would be our dominant big man but once again the Nuggets big men will most likely become the walking wounded, i cant wait for Melo this year i reckon hes ready to explode! he looks fitter and hes taken his game to another level, hes now a reliable threat from behind the arc as it seems which is awesome to see.

I hope we won't have any troubles with injuries and suspensions as we did last year and battle Utah for NW Division Champs.
CMJ, change the topic name to 2007/08 Season
Wed Sep 05, 2007 12:04 pm
i think a full training camp with AI and Melo and Smith will work out well and we can set up some plays to suit this trio of stars, i just hope Camby and Martin can survive the season and Nene also. I'm looking forward to see the production of Kleiza, we saw some good signs last year hopefully he has gone up another level also like Melo.
Im tipping Utah to still win the NW but i think the Nuggets will be only like 2 games behind rather than like 20 like last year.

Denver's going nowhere fast. Iverson won't get traded until at least next summer, assuming anyone wants him. K-Mart and that ludicrous contract of his will be on the roster until the latter expires. JR Smith is basically an older Gerald Green (not a good thing), Chucky Atkins is, well, Chucky Atkins. Yakhouba Diawara? Please, give me break. Melo could become the best offensive player in the league but it will never translate to much post-season success unless he decides to at least try to play defense. And why the hell would they release Anthony Carter then re-sign him 2 days later? Just goes to show how stupid the Nugs brass is. Not to mention they have one of the most unbalanced teams in the league? How many power forwards do you really need? Especially when Atkins and Anthony Carter are your only 2 true points, and calling Atkins a true point is even quite a stretch.
As much as it sucks, because I really want to like Denver with Camby and Nene on the roster, I think they're on the path to becoming the Junior New York Knicks, with the exception of actually having a legitimate franchise player (even if he doesn't play any defense). Also, I hate the Jazz (except AK47), and I'd much rather see the Nuggets win the division than Utah, but it's not going to happen any time soon.
Also, JR Smith is by no means a star. When your decision making is so bad that George freaking Karl is prone to sitting your ass on the bench, you're miles away from being a star. Why do you think Chicago gave him away for nothing? Because he's about as dumb as a brick on the basketball court.

4 When you have K-Mart and Nene...
How many do you need?
Don't answer, i hope you never come in to this thread again

I have to agree with most of what TheMC5 said.
Especially with this:

I don't see the Nuggets going anywhere without a defense that's AT LEAST 300% of what we saw last season.
I don't know what's wrong with Melo. Nobody expects him to play D like Bowen or Iguodala but not showing any effort is simply dumb. How can you play in the NBA with the goal to win games and not even try to do do your best on D? It's ridiculous. He doesn't step on the court with only one shoe so why does he only play one part of the game?
Fri Sep 07, 2007 12:16 am
I hope Nene's injury won't affect him going into the season, but he butter lose that weight he gained, otherwise K-Mart will start ahead of him.
Fri Sep 07, 2007 2:16 pm
He'll be fine and should be back around training camp, K-Mart won't take his spot but will be 6th man for 3-4 games until he's out for a season with a knee injury again.
Fri Sep 07, 2007 2:33 pm
I'm waiting for K-Mart to actually start playing for the Nuggets. What a waste of money.
