US Open

A bit late starting this... as it's already started.

Ah well, post away!

Who do you think will win? And who do you want to win?

I'm hoping for an upset but fed is always crazy good and will be tough to upset. i doubt the recent loss to Novak Djokavic means much. remember Roddick beat him prior to the Aussie Open as well and got wasted when they met then.

Who I want to win would be James Blake... but anyone other than Fed would suffice for me. As an Aussie, I am following Lleyton Hewitt's progress and he's been playing well leading up to this torunament.

On the women's side, I wanna see one of the Williams sisters to win it. Are they both in the draw?

I always want Federer to win because its always fun watching someone chase history. Havent been watching it much though to be honest (first week back at school).

Masha will win womens no doubt :!:

Thu Aug 30, 2007 3:56 pm

Go Federer for the men's and Sharapova for the women's!

Huh? lol...

Uh...yes, Henin might win it....provided that she doesn't get upset again. What do you guys think of the Williams sisters?

Fri Aug 31, 2007 12:39 pm

I was going for Serena to win in Aussie Open at start of the year only cause I'm a bit of a sucker for good stories and stuff... I wouldn't mind them winning their 'home' tournament. Hopeing one of the gets to the Finals.

Lleyton Hewitt got knocked out in the second round... but Blake won his game :D

Mon Sep 03, 2007 3:40 pm

Sharapova lost yesterday :? . Henin breezed through hers as expected and so did both the Williams sisters. Not too many big upsets to talk about from the men's side.

Mon Sep 03, 2007 4:30 pm

Awww mazafaka...Sharapova got beaten by some teen from Poland what the eff...seriously what the eff :(

Mon Sep 03, 2007 11:30 pm

I wanna see Venus v Serena in the Final now :D

Tue Sep 04, 2007 4:48 am

As much as it would be cool watching Federer win, I just find his game mastery to be a bit boring for some reason. It's in the U.S., so I want to see Roddick win, especially with Jimmy Conners as his coach. I want to see a Venus and Serena finals match, too.

edit - Blake is at Match Point against Haas!!

Tue Sep 04, 2007 10:52 am

Blake lost. :( Aww man.... well Roddick is still in. Anyone who can upset Fed.

I admire the seemingly 'unbeatable-ness' of Fed but I really don't want him to win...

Tue Sep 04, 2007 12:25 pm

Too bad Sit, he'll win again

Tue Sep 04, 2007 12:28 pm

Yeh... that sucks doesn't it. :P

Still, the Women's draw looks a hell lot exciting because it's just more compeitive... Venus v Serena will be awesome if it happens. Last time I saw that was I think it was Aussie Open 05 Final...

Tue Sep 04, 2007 2:05 pm

LOL Sit is an expert on all sports now I see. Where does the James Blake love come from though?

Tue Sep 04, 2007 2:51 pm

I've followed him for a while.

I love his story of how he got into the sport, how hard he worked and all the stuff he had to get past in order to get on the pro circuit. All the set backs include having scoliosis as a kid and having to wear a full lenght back brace all the time other than when he played tennis... and esepcially 2004, where he broke his neck, his father passed away and he got some illness where half his face was paralyzed and he had blurred sight because of shingles... He's worked hard to get where he has and considering the things that have happened to him, I became a fan.

Although I don't think he will win a grand slam tournament - yet to come close (getting to quarter finals twice at US Open does count for something I guess), I still follow keenly...

and I'm not an 'expert' on all sports... I just like to follow particular ones that I do enjopy playing and watching...

I watched the Blake/Hass match today. it was crazy. i was pulling for the american Blake even after he gave up the 4th set intentionally. went down quick 4-2 in the 5th set and he came back and had 3 match points on Haas but lost in the tiebreaker. i hope Haas does well, im a fan of his too.

and i say fcuk Roddick that cocky bitch.

Tue Sep 04, 2007 2:59 pm

I see a pattern... qballer hates cocky bitches! :D

Anyways, now that Blake and Hewitt are out... I will need to jump on the A Rod bandwagon... two years ago I was bagging him for beind pretty one-dimensional. However, with a new coach, he's looked to change that a lil bit. (Y)

Justine Henin beat Serena 7/6 6/1

Great match in the first set but Henin started to dominate the game starting the tiebreak

Thu Sep 06, 2007 9:38 am

Tough loss for Williams. Henin pretty much took control in the second set, but a bit unlucky for Williams. Jankovic is up the other Williams a break in the first right now.

EDIT: Wow, Venus just missed 3 break chances. That might come back and bite her later.

Thu Sep 06, 2007 12:38 pm

Venus won 4-6, 6-1, 7-6.

Thu Sep 06, 2007 3:42 pm

Well, I guess it didn't come back and bite her, at least in the last two sets.

Federer beats Roddick, straight set, but two sets went into tiebreaks. Boy, there are so many tiebreaks these days. Too bad for Roddick, although I'm a Federer fan, it would be nice to see him win in the US. And since Nadal is gone, Federer is penciled in for the title (unless Djokovic makes a stand, but unlikely...).

Thu Sep 06, 2007 4:07 pm

Fed, on a bad day, against someone on their best day could probably lose... I'm not counting on anyone to beat him though. It would be nice but doubt it would happen.
