Play some CS.

I'd be willing to play CS again if a big enough group is gathered, but I suck at CS. Like I mentioned before, I play DoD only.

*bump*
Not really.Searching for help with Steam until I stumbled to this thread. I need help on connecting to Steam. Tried searching in Steam's support forums and Google. Found other people with similar problems but no solution.
Problem is when I open Steam, it just displays "Connecting Steam account: username..." for a long time. A very long time.
Made no changes to my hardware or software that may affect Steam.
I only uninstalled Apple-related programs like Bonjour and MobileMe. I doubt that's the cause, unless Steam has some affiliation with Apple.
When I opened Steam, as it was connecting, the AVG update started to run. The update finished, but the Steam connecting window still remained open, that's when it started. I have no clue what's wrong, Steam always opened even when I had AVG running in the background with scheduled scans and updates.
I'm aware that Steam had some downtime a few days back. I'll probably wait a few days to see if this shite will go away or before I go for the support ticket.
In the meantime, any help/suggestions from Steam users here in the NLSC?

Try temporarily disabling AVG.
Delete or rename your "clientregistry.blob" file in your Steam install directory. This may cause it to update for a while, but it should work.

I rarely update mine since I don't play online but right now it just took 10 seconds to open and do its thing, so it seems to be related to your PC. Maybe a previous update got somehow corrupted or something, just like when AVG does not want to install new virus updates anymore (which happened to me a couple of times after a previously downloaded update was corrupt). Reinstalling Steam might be the only way to go in this case...

As Pdub suggested. Exit Steam completely. Go to Program Files/Steam, delete both the .blob files. (You don't need to back them up, they're created and modified automatically.) Start Steam.
You'll have to login again, and once loaded it will have to check all your files against the content servers.

Thanks Pdub. It worked. Steam and AVG both open right now after the fix.
Good thing I don't have to do what el badman suggested.
I didn't need to delete the other .blob file. Seems like AVG messed around with Steam loading before Steam got updated and shite happened.
I just noticed this post in this thread:

lol, Left 4 Dead.

The blobs get corrupted on their own. Especially when games don't close properly. AVG could have done something, but that happens to everyone including me. And I don't run AVG or anything like that.

I better keep that info handy for future reference. First time I had a problem on Steam.
As I was searching for a solution, seems like a lot of people are pissed of at Steam for having various problems of their own.

If you search for any common Steam problem on the forums, you'll find "delete the .blobs" as the answer. And most of the time it works. That and "verify integrity of game cache" are the two fixes for pretty much every common problem. It stems from how the game content is stored.
