INTRODUCTION

This is Laker Basketball and a new dynasty for the Los Angeles Lakers. I will be using the latest NLSC roster patch and make trades as realistic as possible.









During the Offseason...

We have hired 3 new assistants to start the 07 season. Our first assistant, Ignacio Ramos, is an excellent athletics assistant (A in athletics). Our second assistant, Andrei Nikitin, specializes in offense (A- in offense). And our final assistant, Sergio Ferrer, is an expert in defense (A in defense).

We also hired D. Duncan as our new Assistant Head Coach. He has a grade of A in development and C in leadership. We feel he is a good match for our team.

Reshaping the Laker Lineup...

There are many reasons to reshape the Laker lineup. First of all, our young promising player Andrew Bynum was a disappointment and didn't seem to develop quick enough. The question was, "Will he develop in time?" Kobe sure didn't think so.

The Laker's minimal moves to improve the roster made Kobe furious. In a radio interview, Kobe asked to be traded. He also added, "This place is a mess.. if we're not making strides here to improve this team right now, to be aggressive in that nature, then what's the point of having me here?"




Jermaine O'Neal to the Lakers?



In order for the Lakers to make this move, they must give up possibly Odom, Brown, and Bynum. There is a possibility Luke Walton can be dealt in the trade to acquire JO.

When we asked Jermaine O'Neal what he felt about being traded to the Lakers he said, "I would welcome a trade to the Lakers. Indiana has given me the opportunity to establish myself as a really good player, but they are into rebuilding and going with young players, and I'm just not in the position to go through another five years with a lot of losses and down time."

Other Trade Rumors...




It is likely any of these five Lakers will be traded any time soon. (Luke Walton, Kwame Brown, Maurice Evans, Andrew Bynum, and Lamar Odom)



New Jersey Nets
It is also possible that Richard Jefferson from the New Jersey Nets can be dealt to the Lakers for Lamar Odom.




Orlando Magics
There have been rumors surrounding star Rashard Lewis. The Lakers are interested in the great post-up skill and ability to shoot beyond the arc that Lewis possesses.




Toronto Raptors
It is possible that the Lakers are trying to attain Raptor's 7'0 center Andrea Bargnani. Source says Luke Walton and Maurice Evans are possible options to attain the center.




Memphis Grizzlies
There have been rumors surrounding Memphis star Pau Gasol. Source says that the Lakers are interested in Gasol and are willing to give up Odom and Bynum. Another rumor is that Mike Miller can also be included in the trade for Kwame Brown and possibly Luke Walton.

It depends on what your main goals are. Do you want to rebuild? Win a championship soon? Cut payroll?

Personally, I think it would cool if you could swing a deal for Jermaine O'Neal. I was really close to doing it in my Pacers dynasty, and it would be a realistic trade. Beyond that my main concerns would be moving Maurice Evans, Vladimir Radmanovic, Kwame Brown, and Derek Fisher, and look to acquire as many of the following as possible: draft picks, expiring contracts, shooters, defenders, and point guard depth.

Also, it helps to know which players you plan on building around. If were you, I'd try to keep Kobe, Bynum, and Crittenton, which would give a need for a veteran big for Bynum insurance, and a veteran PG to start in front of Crittenton for a few years. Beyond that, a core of Bryant, Bynum, and Crittenton gives you lots of flexibility as to how fill out the rest of your roster.

yea im looking to reshape my lineup, but the moves i make i want them to be as realistic as possible. in a realistic scenario, bynum is likely to be traded because he was a huge disappointment. sure i can trade all those guys like vladimir, fisher, evans, etc. but fisher in this case just got traded to the lakers (so hes likely to stay). it is possible i can trade the other guys though as long as its possible in real life.

so basically i want to build my team around kobe and since hes not content with the lineup i want to make a few moves to satisfy him whether its moving vladimir, evans, vujacic, odom, brown, etc.

OK. I see what you're going for. I know Bynum has been a little disappointing, but I'd keep him around, as well as Fisher (who was lowest on my list of guys to move) and Crittneton, and also Walton. You might be able to get JO for Odom and Radman, but it's more realistic to have Bynum in that deal, so I wouldn't do it. In all, the Lakers are tough to play with. They don't lack talent, it's just dispersed rather poorly. As ofr specific players, I'm not sure who you should target, but I'll give you my dream Lakers lineup, based your criteria of realism.

C - Bynum/Vet acquired in deal/Mihm
PF - Good low post-defender and rebounder/Cook or Turiaf or both
SF - Walton/defensive swingman who can shoot a la James Posey
SG - Kobe/whatever else you can get in a deal, doesn't matter
PG - Fisher/Crittenton

A lineup like that would help you win games now thanks to sound defense, and position you nicely for the future with Bynum, Crittenton, Walton, and hopefully the PF you get for Odom, all having potential to improve.

I'd keep Walton in part because he's young, but also because he's got a reasonable contract and is pretty versatile. His defense isn't great, but that's why you pick up a defensively sound SF in a trade. Optimally, I think you trade Odom and Radman for a good low post defender and an expiring contract, and possibly a draft pick, then move Kwame for a SF, and see where you're at then.

If you do keep Bynum and Crittenton, I think you train the hell out of both of them. But don't neglect your vets, at least those under 30. Training vets a coulpe times a year can really slow their decline, and you can even see improvement in many non-physical areas, like awareness of shooting.

Lakers currently negotiating with the Memphis Grizzlies

Source tells us that the Lakers are currently making a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies for Darko Milicic, Mike Miller or Stromile Swift, and Brian Cardinal. In return, the Lakers would offer Lamar Odom, Vladimir Radmanovic, and Maurice Evans.

Deal finalized..

After a long discussion with the Memphis Grizzlies, both teams came to a conclusion. The Lakers welcome Mike Miller, Darko Milicic, Stromile Swift, and Brian Cardinal to the team. In return, the Lakers trade Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, Maurice Evans, Ronny Turiaf, and Vladimir Radmanovic. The Lakers plan to release Brian Cardinal.

In an interview about the trade, the Lakers GM commented, "We believe both teams benefited from this trade. The Grizzlies got an excellent athlethic power forward Lamar Odom and we got an excellent shooter Mike Miller. We also believe Milicic's defense will bring stability in our roster. He'll have a chance to start and hope to improve his offense as well." The Memphis Grizzlies now have Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, and Vladimir Radmanovic in the frontcourt, with Rudy Gay and Conley in the backcourt.

Laker's Debut against the Suns

Amare Stoudemire was on fire in Tuesday's Game against the Lakers


It was the first game of the season for the Lakers and their new lineup against the high scoring Phoenix Suns. Their new lineup wasn't enough for the Amare Stoudemire and the Suns. Amare ended the game with 23 pts with an amazing 15 boards and 2 blocked shots. Kobe Bryant got into foul trouble in the fourth quarter with 5 fouls and had to sit on the bench. However, he ended with 19 pts, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Mike Miller also played an excellent game with 26 pts, shooting 11-16 from the field and 4-5 from beyond the arc.



The player of the game was Shawn Marion, who had 16 pts, 7 boards, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 4 blocks.

i did a double trade with them

maybe have gotten the worse end of the deal.. but it sure was realistic (thats my main goal).. and even though i gave up a little points, rebounds, and assists.. i gained 3 points in miller and blocks in milicic and swift (great defenders)

Bynum had 4 blocks in Wednesday's game


It was the Laker's second game of the season going into the game with a record 0-1 against the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers dominated the Warriors in the first half leading 58 to 44. However, Mike Miller had 5 fouls and had to sit all of 3rd quarter and most of the 4th. Lakers led by as many as 20 pts until the 4th quarter when Baron Davis and Pietrus dominated in the final quarter and cut the lead to 1 with 3:14 on the clock. However, it wasn't enough for Kobe Bryant and the Lakers who beat the Warriors 100-92. Kobe had 27 pts in the game.
