Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I'm taking a trip here in a couple weeks and I was wondering if anybody from around the general area knows of some good stuff do to there. I know the obvious (Smithsonian, Capital Building, Lincoln Memorial, National Mall, etc.)... but I'm sure there's other great stuff to do, good restaurants to eat at, etc.
I'm also planning on going to a D.C. United Game and the Kennedy Opera house, but I'm not sure what other evening entertainment stuff there might be.
Thanks

My girlfriend is from close to there, I'll ask her and fill you in later.

When visiting Smithsonian museums , be sure to visit the Air and Space Museum and the Natural History museum. They also have an amusement park outside DC in Maryland ("Six Flags America") so you might be interested in that. Don't know much about the DC nightlife...

I don't know how bad it is a few weeks after Independence Day, but last summer I visited DC for three days on the 4th 5th...and the lines for the museums were BRU-TAL.

Well I'm going to be going from the 4th or 5th of August until the 11th or 12th of August so I don't anticipate too much of a "Independence Day crowd" but I'm sure there will still be crowds none the less.
Thanks for the info so far and I'm looking forward to your "fill in" Donatello.

Yep, we went there on a class trip this year and those were two cool museums.
Also, visit the National Cathedral.

"We have to steal the Declaration of Independence!"
Don't do that.

It's tempting. I've been quasi planning it for a few weeks now but I think I'll be able to restrain myself when I get there.

The FBI building. Plenty of squirrels around it.

If you happen to get bored in D.C, Baltimore, which is like 20 minutes away is a very under-rated city. Lots of GREAT restaurants, and a water taxi. (which is like a taxi, except it's a boat)
I believe there's an ESPN Zone in Washington, but I know for sure there's one in Baltimore.

Yeah there is an ESPN Zone right by Ford Theater.

Am I the only school that treated Ford's Theater as a secondary option, with the ESPN Zone one of the main attractions.

Yeah, sorry. She wanted to spend a few more days with me even though I insisted she goes back to you. I promise I'll return her without too much damage done, if you know what I mean.

A Nic Cage post and now that ^.
Riot is on fire.
Silas, have someone take a pic of you lying on your back and the background is the Washington Memorial. You know what angle to take.

I go to school in Baltimore and I've been down to DC a few times - my insider tip is to check out the International Spy Museum in DC - awesome if you're into that sort of thing. The Inner Harbor in Baltimore is pretty awesome as well - there's an aquarium and the ESPN Zone a few hundred yards apart, then Camden Yards a few blocks down which is a great stadium.

No problem, the trip was fun, got to see some stuff, the coolest part was the D.C. United vs. L.A. Galaxy soccer game in the pouring, and I mean POURING down rain, and booing Beckham when we went in because I'm a big D.C. United fan. It was awesome. almost 47,000 people there, a sellout and crazy crowd.
