@andrew

is the production team working on next gen live the same team thats working on current gen??

Sun Aug 05, 2007 10:57 am

I'm pretty sure they're not. The last gen team is probably very small as they don't have as much to do. And the PC team even smaller.

No, it's a different team.

If people don't buy the pc version what does that say about the pc game and EA's efforts to improve the game and the sales of the game?

Mon Aug 06, 2007 10:54 pm

I´ve heard something about a demo on live´s stage demo.
Does anyone know something about it?

It probably sais one of these two-

1. Depsite a monopoly on the PC platform and years of dedicated and loyal players of the PC version of the series, EA will stop using their resources to release a PC version of the game. This is a worst case scenario.

2. EA will try to entice more PC gamers to buy the game by porting the xbox360 version of the game to the PC platform. This will happen whether people buy it or not. They know they have the fanbase, and hardcore gamers and graphics enthusiasts will be more likely to buy the game with all the eye candy.

Something might happen like it did for the 2001/2002 version of the game. We might have to wait a few more months for it to release or even have to skip a version(like in 2002) while they will work on the pc version and possibly give us a specific feature like "customart" in 2003.

I said it before, I'll say it again. I'd rather not have one for a year if it means theyre taking the time to really improve the game for us. Live 07 is now a livable game, lol and we already have the rosters...

Sun Aug 12, 2007 3:00 am

Hey when is the embargo date due?, In other words when can Andrew talk to us 'bout Dynasty mode??

Sun Aug 12, 2007 8:39 am

If Gameplay sucks again , atleast I hope for great news in Dynasty Mode

There is no way I'm playing 07 for another year, no matter how much we've improved it.

So you won't be playing Live 08 on the PC I take it... ;)

Sun Aug 12, 2007 12:24 pm

if 08 for PC is a flop I will be updating 2004

I still haven't been given the green light. Considering we're less than a couple of months away from the release date I'm assuming it won't be much longer.

 I already preordered 08 for PC. I need to change that order to the 360.

If that is the case I will get it off amazon or ebay and join you. Or I will just make classic rosters for Live 2000 (2000,2001 and 2002 rosters)

I pre-ordered 07 then like 2 days before it came I read on here about all the problems.. lets just say I am not pre-ordering this year.

I'm not pre-ordering without a demo, I'm probably not even ordering without a demo :-p

Unless you've got a 360 it seems as though you'll be out of luck there since that's the only platform for which a demo has been mentioned.

Andrew, i've got a lil question - would PC live have features like individual style of play for some supstars, individual style for a team, and goto moves?

Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:14 pm

I doubt it. That is why I don't even pay attention to the new stuff they put in the "next gen" version cuz I know almost none of it will be in the PC version.

I think the price of live on PC should go down to $30. If I remember correctly NHL 07 last year on PC was $30. I think the price of the PC version should go down to $30 until we get the "next gen" version on PC.

joejam999, :) i wonder what happens to me first - i buy 360, or EA port game from 360 to PC?!

cost doesn't matter 4 me, cuz i'm buying it for 150 or 200 rubles is like 5 or 6 dollars!

It would seem unlikely.

how come they dont just port the next gen to the pc? is it really that much harder to port than the ps2 version?

Wed Aug 15, 2007 10:53 am

I guess we can only really speculate. As I said before, I think it just comes down the fact that the PC version is no longer a priority.

Thats what I was thinking too. Since this is no longer a "priority" area for them, I dont see why we should have to shell out priority coin for what is panning out to be basically a roster update.

Wed Aug 15, 2007 2:47 pm

EA does not consider any sports game to be a mere "update" they have stated many times that each for individual game they "build a new experience" and that merely releasing updates or cheaper versions that are just updates would confuse consumers, be too hard to do, and they will never do it. (I believe the old excuse was "who would want to download a 300MB update?")
how come they dont just port the next gen to the pc? is it really that much harder to port than the ps2 version?

Well, even though XNA and the X360 tools make it insanely easy to port games from X360 to PC. (Just look at how many games come out at the same exact time for both.) I think it would still be easier to port PS2 games. For one, the tools to do that have been around for nearly a decade now, so they're going to make it quite easy to do.

Plus, there would be some extra cost factors for a true PC development. Building a PC-centric UI (which is the best part of 2001) would require one, maybe even two people to spend a couple months on.
