NBA Live has updated their blog on IGN, and this one focuses on the 'own the paint feature'.

It sounds very cool, and I really hope it's as good as it sounds because this would make the game much more realistic and better.

i hope that all the fakes aren't just animations that you have to fall for, i hope they can be blocked

Well in the blog the guy talks about how the defense can cutoff the offensive player if he can predict the players moves. So I think in the own the paint video the players were just falling for the fakes for the purpose of the video. Because in the blog the guy says that you can use the fakes to get the defender in the air so I don't think its a canned animation. Hopefully this is true because then good post defenders will actually cause problems for weak post players because they won't fall for fakes as easily and will actually cause you to have take tough shots.

yea, i noticed that after i read a little bit more, but i was too lazy to edit my first post lol...but these new post moves look like they will make big post players like shaq actually play a big role in games

I wonder if SG, PG, SF will have post moves too, because a PG like Kidd post up a lot.

yea they have to have post moves, probably not signature moves, but everyone can post up

i tihnk this feature will make or break the game. if it is as good as it sounds (with checks to the moves down low, playing D by predicting which way they'll go) then this by far will be a better game than 2k7. 2k7's post game is non-existant. 2k7's midrange game is non-existant too, now that i tihnk about it. they really reward dunnking and layups (when they're not behind the backboard and out of bounds) and lucky 3 pointers.
however, if this part of the game is easy to exploit and abuse (like every new feature in the Live series) then it will suck. hoe much it sucks will depend on how much it affects gameplay.

That's my main concern with Own the Paint. In terms of executing the moves and the moves available to players posting up it's great, but the "jostle" system does seem to favour the offensive player. Hopefully that's been fixed up since the build that I played.
