Well it looks like Milwaukee's gonna
sign Desmond Mason.
This is gonna cap a terrible summer for Milwaukee
Mon Jul 23, 2007 3:40 pm
I think its a good move. This gives us a solid SF if simmons cant put up good numbers if he even starts. Either way with Mason, Redd, and Simmons playing the 2 and 3, thats a nice 3 man rotation. Im guessing Villa will play more PF then anything this season.
Mon Jul 23, 2007 9:03 pm
If I was a Bucks fan, I would be very happy. Desmond fell off the map when he went to New Orleans, but he remains one of my very favorite players in the league. He put up 17/4/3 for the Bucks in his last season with them, and he can do that all over again if he's healthy.

Its official. Bucks sign Mason
http://www.nba.com/bucks/news/MasonSigns_070723.html
Current Roster
Bogut - Gadzuric
Villanueva - Voskul - Markota
Mason - Simmons
Redd - Noel
Mo - Greer
Still key players to sign.
Charlie Bell
Yi Jianlian

Nice... Mason is back as a Buck... I remember I loved to watch him when he was still in Milwaukee.
Tue Jul 24, 2007 6:14 am
What will happen with Ruben Patterson?
Tue Jul 24, 2007 10:24 am
Patterson's a free agent and supposedly won't be back.

Bucks are signing Awvee Storey to a 2 year contract, with a team option after the first year. Why you may ask? No idea. We already have Mason and Noel off the bench. Perhaps this means Simmons might no be ready for the start of the season, or maybe Charlie Bell is going to get a big deal elsewhere. Or it might just continue to show the ineptitude of the Bucks management and ownership.
Thu Aug 02, 2007 10:13 am
On Awvee - he's an asshole with a stupid name. That's all.
Bucks fans might want to read this:

As I've said before, Yi and his handlers, the goverment and Dan Fegan are all idiots. I can't even begin to comment on this, I'm pretty pissed off, and I'm not even a fan of the Bucks. In fact, I don't even like them at all. The thing is, I am an NBA fan in general, and this ass is not good for the league. If he doesn't play, send his ass back to China and let him dominate against 6-4 centers till he can't go anymore. Chinese basketball is a joke to me, from refusing to sign with the team that drafted you, to being owned by someone, to refusing to play in a city because there aren't enough Chinese people, to shrouding your age in secrecy - it's all a joke. The CBA and the Chinese goverment are in no shape to handle the NBA.
My favorite:
Harris's broken promise to visit China has prompted a rush of complaints from Chinese fans.
"Obviously, he is a liar, he didn't honor his commitment," Liu Yijun, a 23-year-old basketball fan, told the China Daily at the Tianhe Gymnasium, venue of the Stankovic Cup.
Well, mister Liu Yijun, do you realize that your beloved Yi is also a liar and didn't honor his commitment? He entered the draft, meaning he will be owned as a basketball player by the team that drafts him and will play for them - and is now wanting out. He lied and didn't honor his commitment.
Thu Aug 02, 2007 10:30 am
God damm CBA! The reason why Harris isn't over there at present is, as he has already told Yi's agents, he wants to clear up deals with our current FA. Once Bell is resigned that job is complete. Then he can go to China. So there is no lie. I'm pretty sure as well their would be some Bucks rep over there, probably Dave Babcock scouting him and keeping an eye on the situation.
Further, they are disappointed that the Bucks management haven't flown half way around the world to meet them, yet he turned down a requested meeting with the teams brass and a US Senator. That's a little bit hypocritical. You don't here of any other draft picks demanding the teams that signed them to fly to them to negotiate a signing. Oden didn't stay at home and say to Portland "when you are ready come over and we'll see if we can reach an agreement".
This kid better be a damm good player (and not a bust) to justify all the effort and bullshit he has put the team through. Maybe the reason we signed Storey is if Yi doesn't perform he can swing a haymaker his way and send him back to China.
Thu Aug 02, 2007 10:45 am
What's up with the Yi situation these days? Do you think Milwaukee will still sign him after all these fiasco?
Thu Aug 02, 2007 10:56 am
Well basically he will either sign with the Bucks or stay in China and either 1) play there for a year; 2) sit out from professionally competition so he can re-enter the draft next year. The last 2 options would not help Yi's stock (as this whole situation hasn't) and wouldn't help China's success in Basketball at the Beijing Olympics which is apparently priority number 1 over there.
The only way we trade him is if we get a very, very, very good deal. I honestly don't think that is going to happen. I think eventually Yi's camp will fold and he will sign with the Bucks before training camp. All signs are pointing to that at least with the NBA getting involved, the CBA coming over here for discussions and Milwaukee relentlessly opposing any trades and there willingness to make a stand for the sake of small market teams.
Thu Aug 02, 2007 11:06 am
Yes, trading him at this time is not an option. The season is still long, there are many things that can still happen.
And yes, Milwaukee has every right to pursue him. What is happening right now will create a negative impact with Yi. But I still think that he is a solid player. Having a small Chinese/Asian community in Milwaukee is not a valid reason, IMO. Hell, at least they have one.
Another factor is the TV exposure in Milwaukee. I think many Chinese only knows top NBA teams and big markets because they always show Houston games on their end.

On one hand, I'd like the mess to be resolved and for him to join the Bucks because even though I'm not a Milwaukee fan, I dislike the whole situation and it would be a shame for them to end up having blown a lottery pick this way. On the other hand, I'd rather if Yi never made the NBA because the whole matter has been so disgusting and the latest talk about "broken promises" is ridiculous.

I agree, except difference being, as a Bucks fan, this is a very important season for the franchise and the exposure, excitement and interest Yi would bring to the team is critical. If the Bucks have another poor season again (even though last years shitness was purely due to injuries) the franchise is in trouble. Another trip to the lottery sees the departure of Larry Harris, and possibly Larry K the coach. It puts pressure on Kohl to sell or spend more. It puts pressure on the franshise to change something which will mean one of the key players such as Redd, Bogut or Williams (possibly even CV if he recovers adequately) to be shipped out to shake things up. This is a very young team and a very talented team that just needs time and to develop defensively. I think if we are healthy we can land 5-6th seed in the East. Adding Yi to that equation makes the team even better. He can block shots, get to the foul line, provide the option of playing 3 bigs at once (Bogut - CV - Yi), and provides another offensive presence. I honestly think he has the talent to start after the All Star break when he has settled in, or at least provide a big spark off the bench.
If we sign Yi and Sessions, and re-sign Bell our roster for next season is complete.
Depth Chart at present:
PG: Williams - Bell - Greer - Sessions
SG: Redd - Mason - Bell - Noel - Storey
SF: Simmons - Mason - CV - Noel - Storey
PF: CV - Yi - Voskul - Simmons - Markota
C: Bogut - Gadz - Voskul - Yi
With good health, better chemistry, development, a decent coach and a touch of luck this team can make the playoffs this year, and go quite deep the following season onwards. I think we will be able to score big every night, and if we can just be average on D then we will be up there with Washington etc. on the second tier of playoff contenders.
Thu Aug 02, 2007 1:09 pm
That's understandable, if I were a Bucks fan I'd definitely want everything to get sorted out and for Yi to join the team. But like you said, he'll have to live up to the hype to justify all this fuss.

wtf?
The best part about that is that when I was at a Brewers game recently in Milwaukee I saw 4 chinese girls walking together that were all fine as hell, and I usually don't think Asian girls are hot.
Me and my friends were joking that Yi should feel lucky to be in Milwaukee.
Fri Aug 03, 2007 5:41 am
he is crazy, he needs to live the american dream and find himself some dumb ass blonde bimbo who can he drag around and act like he is the coolest shit ever.
Fri Aug 03, 2007 5:56 am
Or find some 6'4 girl to marry like Yao did, and make basketball babies.
Plus Yi behind Gazuric (whatever) and Voskul...
Fri Aug 03, 2007 7:28 am
LOL. Why dont he bring a girl from China? I have to agree with Yi though, Wisconsin has a large population of fat ass uglies that no one would want to date.

You're crazy if you think he will be our primary back-up at Centre. He will play more SF than Centre this season, that I am certain. He would get abused in the post too much if he was playing against 5's, let alone 4's. That is why Gadz, and probably Voskul will be backing up Bogut.

Just spent about 10 minutes browsing the forums, time to leave again and do stuff. *sigh*

They're really reaching for reasons now. It's getting pathetic.

Haha that's great I'm really starting to like this Yi character.
