Harry Potter 7 (Spoilers Inside)

Thu Jul 19, 2007 2:28 pm

Why do people get so routy when I spoil the book.

Thu Jul 19, 2007 3:35 pm

I don't know what so special about Harry's death, either.

Thu Jul 19, 2007 5:02 pm

I yelled out in the middle of class that Ron gets killed and everyone's like JUGS THATS NOT FUNNY YOU JUST RUINED HARRY POTTER FOR ME. And I'm like have a cry! I'll give you a tissue :boohoo:

I don't get what's so special about Harry Potter in general. I mean, it was cool when I was like eleven but I find it to be thirteen-year-old-girl material now.

I still dig it, I'm 20. My sister still digs it, she's 29.

Doesn't typecast me as a certain reader though, if I enjoy a Harry Potter, I enjoy a Brett Easton Ellis novel equally.

It was obvious Harry would die, so everyone having a hissy fit is just doing it for the attention, oh noes you ruined the end. If they were that much of a fan (or had half a brain for that matter) it'd be known to one and all that Pothead & Voldemort die, one of the previous books mentioned that one of the two must die. From that I concluded that it would be way too cliche (and expected for that matter) to let Harry ride off in to the sunset. I don't know if Voldemort dies too, but I don't think she'd let "the good guy" die and let "the evil one" live on.

Anyways, not that I'm annoyed or anything, but it is silly on your part. Your whole point of saying Harry Pothead will die is to spite people, not very cool. Then again, you're Jugs...

Thu Jul 19, 2007 6:55 pm

Er, Harry doesn't die

Uhm...why do you feel I responded to you?

What? He doesn't die?! Thanks Jugs, you ruined the book for me. Hass hole. :x

Thu Jul 19, 2007 8:47 pm

It's one or the other so it's not like I ruined the whole story.

Bastard, giving me a guilt trip. LOL.

I could never understand why spoilers would "ruin" something for me. Maybe its because I never get too attatched to watching/reading a movie/book to care enough. In fact, sometimes when people spoil the movie or book for me it just makes me want to go out and see it for myself.

Fri Jul 20, 2007 12:56 am

Nah, I'm not like that.

It takes away from the whole thing I'd say, seeing something for yourself opposed to being told how it all went down and then seeing it, it takes away from the whole experience.

I stopped reading Harry Potter after the 5th or 6th book... whichever one they just made a movie out of. Should get back into it soon I suppose.

I remember way back when I was in primary school, Harry Potter was big amongst alot of my classmates. I didn't really follow anything (TV Shows, Books, etc) so I felt left out. I decided I wanted to start reading the series, so I went to the bookstore to see if I could get it. The book was way to expensive, so I went on the internet and discovered amazon.com where I saw the book for like $15.00. I didn't even bother to convert the US currency to the NZ currency or check out the shipping costs, and I just told mum I found it online for 15 bucks, so she gave me her credit card and I bought it.

About 6 weeks later the book arrives (!) and mum goes off at me because she finally figured out why she was charged around $40-50 on her credit card. She punished me by taking the book away for 3 weeks, but when I got it back I didn't even read it. I don't even know if I still have it lying around somewhere.

Good times.

Great, so after reading this I still don't know if Harry dies or not. Oh well, that means that I'll just have to read every single page of the book (how many pages is it?).

Fri Jul 20, 2007 4:10 am

He doesn't die.... I mean wait does he?

Fri Jul 20, 2007 4:12 am

His evil twin Harry Twater dies.

Fri Jul 20, 2007 10:54 am

You guys are lost. Harry died in the 4th one. You just didn't notice the transition.

Sat Jul 21, 2007 4:44 pm

Wow, Wikipedia already has the plot for HP7.
I'm still waiting for the book to come out.

Sat Jul 21, 2007 6:31 pm

I finished my copy day before yesterday, it was a nice ending to a well written series of books. The sheer amount of imagination this lady has. Very nice.

Basically a very simple good vs evil story coated with magic, wizards, witches and a world that seems pretty cool to me.

Fuck, I'd love to play a game of Quidditch.

i cant help but feel sorry for snape, his whole adulthood no1 trusted him, be it death eaters or good guys, except for dumbledore, and imagine how hard it had to be to kill his only friend

he had to deal with so much to protect harry, including give up his life

im sad that harry never got a chance to thank him :(

when i think about though, i cant believe jk rowling had this whole think in her head, there were so many instances where the littlest detail in a previous book made the biggest revelation in a later book, like the peverall story in hp7

makes me think she might be a wizards herself lol :?

Out of the whole series, I've got the most respect for Snape. He did what he did solely because of love. He loved Lily so much so that even after her death he kept proving how much he loved her day in & day out.

To think of the amount of hatred I had for him after Half Blood Prince, man...JK's a genius.
