Sorry but this game doesnt intrest me much. I played the halo 3 beta for 2 days and got bored. Now i must admit ive never played a halo game, only the halo 3 beta. But to me it seems like they overhype this game so much. I dont see what is so great about it. I am really interested in Assassins Creed and GTAIV. Halo 3, not really. I might download the demo if they make one. If they dont ill probably pass.

Maybe it's the genre you don't like....Halo is a FPS, so if you don't like that genre, doesn't matter what the game is like....I'm not really a fan of FPS myself, although I usually have at least one in my collection (COD or the like) for friends to play....I'd say most people with 360 will get it unless they aren't fans of the FPS genre....

Halo 2 was pretty disappointing. It took out most of the fun that made the original Halo engine so enjoyable.
I haven't played the Halo 3 beta yet.

I dont really like shooters that have no lock on targeting, but i tried gears of war and really liked that. I dont really like first person shooters either, but ive played them before and enjoyed them. I just dont see what the big fuss is about. Especially when video game hosts say this is the biggest game of the year. Hello???? GTAIV! Assassins creed!. Those two games i think are bigger then halo 3.
Mon Jul 16, 2007 4:37 am
I guess I'm in the vast minority here... I've never even played Halo.. any of them.
Mon Jul 16, 2007 5:02 am
never played any of HALOs...i have seen them and I really started to hate it and the name HALO, wtf that means anyway...
...some of my friends are sooooo exited about Halo 3, I cant understand what they find in it
So my quess are that its problably going to be the most selling game but the buyers are going to think why da hell i bought this game for that kind of money( atleast thats my opinion)
Almost fotgot...-Young Buck- ur totaly right about the biggest games of the year

Halo 2 is the perfect multiplayer game. I can't see how anyone could compain about it or dislike it unless they just haven't really tried it much and gotten used to it.
I'm not quite as excited for Halo 3 simply because I don't think there is anyway to improve Halo 2.

I love FPS games and the Halo series is a real travesty. Every console shooter that came before it was an absolute joke, and Bungie finally managed to make a playable one in Halo. Meanwhile, superior FPSes have been coming out for PC since about 1997, but all the casual console gamers whipped themselves into a frenzy because they didn't have to buy a nice PC and become l33t to play a decent FPS.
I'm incredibly spiteful about Halo, if you haven't noticed.

Halo 2 was perfect multiplayer but they twiddled with the physics engine (less bouncy Warthogs) and made quite a few things a lot less powerful. The graphics didn't suit me, the campaign storyline was worse than the first Halo (only because they marketed it on fighting on Earth, when most of the fighting was on a Halo ring. Plus, the ending was a cliffhanger unlike Halo 1 which wasn't exactly a cliffie.) Killing stuff wasn't as fun, the explosions didn't feel as big, the new guns were generally sucky (SMG is even less effective than an Assault Rifle, even when dual-wielded, the 'Magnum' was a natural pistol, unlike the Halo 1 pistol which should've been called a 'Magnum' since it was pretty damn powerful). Yet it still managed to be awesome in multiplayer probably because of the maps, dual-wielding, new vehicles and hijacks.
I'm being biased, but...

A few notes:
-Goldeneye and Medal of Honor fans may have a bone to pick with your first point..
-Halo was originally a Mac game...just like Bungie's first three FPSers...
Personally, I think the Metroid Prime series beats Halo with a tire iron. But they aren't really too similar...
I've never liked console FPS because of the control scheme (Metroid Prime ignores the "dual analog" method...and isn't a true FPS) especially on the Dual Shock. Playing Halo on the PC wasn't really that impressive to me, it came out the same month as Call of Duty and so didn't seem that remarkable.
The original Halo story seemed interesting, I don't know the story that ended up in the game/books/etc. that well. I think Halo was something no other console had, so Xbox fanbois flocked to it. But it's been surpassed by other Xbox 360 titles now. Gears of War, which could have a far superior storyline, and such.
I think the prospects of a Halo 4 are close to nil. Bungie's been working on the series for a decade, they have to want to do something else.

Never played the original Medal of Honor, but Goldeneye came out around the same time as Quake II, and Half-Life was far along in development at the time. Both of those games put it to shame, though I did have plenty of fun on Goldeneye (it hasn't dated very well however - I tried playing it a few weeks ago and it was next to impossible to move around accurately, especially looking up and down).

Where did you hear that? I was under the impression that Microsoft bought Bungie before that ever came to fruition, and Macsoft did their obligatory port a few years later.

To be honest, I am more excited for Call of Duty 4. If you haven't checked out that game I suggest you do.
Halo is okay, I can't play it hours on end like a lot of people can do and personally I really don't like the Single player all that much...I am only a fan of the Online Multiplayer.

Yea Call of Duty 4 Modern Combat (or Warefare) looks soooo sick, can't wait for it, but I hope onlines alot better than COD3.
Anyways I've never owned any xbox, but I've played Halo 2 at a friends house, and it was pretty fun playing 4 player. Didn't play online but it was still pretty fun. But I never really got super excited after playing it like I did when I first played Resistance at a friends house (and now I think that game is repetitive as hell).

Yeah I agree. I was reading in the Game informer magazine that Infinity Ward is calling COD 4 the actual COD 3 because they were disappointed in how bad Activision did with COD 3. So I'm expecting COD 4 to be nothing like the last one.....Get geeked yo!

you can sign me up to that minority with you. i never played a halo and unless they completly change the idea of the game i never will. i like fps games, like them alot, that one just does not catch my attention though. hell it might be the best game ever but i prefer to play the more "realistic" fps games, like bf2.
right now though the only games i am at all looking forward to are gta4 and... well shit thats it. i want to try live so i guess you can through that on the list but i will not buy it til i have read many of the reviews from people on this site.
game i am playing now and i dont think there is a thread for it is overlord. pretty damn fun game if you ask me. could have been longer and better but for what it is its really fun.

I had Halo 2 when it first came out and I wasn't interested. I realized that I'm not a FPS fan either. I'm just excited for GTA 4.

I heard it back in 1999-ish when it was originally being built on a Mac and being shown off on Macs...also, on Wikipedia:
On July 21, 1999, during the Macworld Conference & Expo, Steve Jobs announced that Halo would be released for Mac OS and Windows simultaneously.[52] Before this public announcement, game industry journalists under a non-disclosure agreement had previewed the game in a private showing during E3 1999,[53] and were reportedly amazed.[52][53] Bungie Studios later stated an even earlier development build of the game centered on real-time strategy and was "basically Myth in a sci-fi universe."[54]
At E3 2000, the first trailer of Halo was well-received.[55] The version shown there differed greatly from the one exhibited previously, marking the first major overhaul in the game's development.[56] At this point, Halo was a third-person action game, in which a transport starship crashlands on a mysterious ring world that orbits a star.[57] Early versions of Covenant aliens appear in great numbers and loot what they can, and war erupts between them and the humans.[57] Unable to match the technologically advanced alien race, the humans on the ring world resort to guerrilla warfare.[57] This version of the game featured Halo-specific fauna, which were later dropped because of design difficulties and the creatures' "detract[ion] from the surprise, drama and impact of the Flood."[58]
In accordance with rumors,[59] Microsoft announced on June 19, 2000 that it had acquired Bungie Studios.[60] Halo became an exclusive game for Microsoft's Xbox video game console, and Bungie Studios rewrote the game's engine, heavily altering its presentation and turning it into a first-person shooter.
I remember it was a mildly interesting sounding game but nothing special, then suddenly it was on the Xbox and "best. game. ever."

I played the first Halo. I never finished it and I never wanted to. I like FPS games, but I just couldn't get into Halo. I am more interested in games like Half Life, F.E.A.R., Prey, and Deus Ex. I wonder if Duke Nukem Forever will ever show up.

i have been wanting to play F.E.A.R and never did. i really should pick that damn game up sometime.
i think duke is lost to time

You can download the multiplayer portion of F.E.A.R. for free (legally) - it's called F.E.A.R. Combat - check it out.

The singleplayer portion of F.E.A.R. is well worth it. Turn off all the lights and turn the volume up when you play it.
