Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

That's the only concept that was mentioned specifically, breaking out of animations (most notably when passing).

I also want to see that for the block button.
Tap it so the defender will just hop a bit in attempting the block.
Press the button fully and the player will jump at his highest to go for the block.

Yeah, I always wondered why EA couldn't apply to other buttons what the "shoot/take charge" button does. It makes sense to hold it and release it properly for jump shots, and I think it also makes sense to use the same concept for passes (I think FIFA has it), layups, steals or blocks.
I dunno, maybe it'd be too hard to implement, but it would certainly make the whole thing more immersive and intuitive.

"Player strategy and logic also came up during the call. One of the things EA is looking to achieve with NBA Live this year is having players react to the situation much more intelligently, taking advantage of the situation and making decisions on whether to run a set offense (and which offense to run), attempt 1-on-1 play and when to pass the ball. Determining an individual player's logic in regards to shooting the ball or looking to pass (but also looking for a shot if the opportunity is there) is also a goal, though Brian admitted it may not be something that can be achieved with perfection in NBA Live 08. Making the players play an intelligent game and one that reflects the real thing certainly would seem to be the aim of their focus on 5-on-5 gameplay this year. "
Pefecting it will take time. I can live with that. But there better be a hell of a log of progression this year.

I hope they do improve the gameplay and I also hope they improve some other things like bring back saving in the middle of the game and also have saving during the offseason. I also hope for multiplayer dynasty mode.

Can I point out that the game is never as good as the video for NBA Live games.

What game ever is?. Name a Final Fantasy commercial that featured gameplay instead of FMV. How about Call of Duty, the adds for that game used movie style CGI and had nothing at all to do with the game. Adds, promos, etc, are by their nature deceptive and are only supposed to show the product in the absolute best light. This is one issue where "Live sux" just dosn't cut it, 'cause most game makers are so much worse.

hmm im wondering if EA could use the type of controllers of the 2k7 , because in the 2k7 you have a total control of your player , you can choose between a flashy dunk and a safe one , and another stuff.

Aside from Freestyle Control we won't have control over that, though dunks and layups will be contextual so the most appropriate move will be selected given the situation on the court. That's the aim, at least.

Hey Andrew, Quick Question: Was there a primacy rating for players? Did star players on teams take the majority of the shots or was it the same as last yr when the PG would take the shots most? Thanks
Sun Jul 08, 2007 5:57 pm
I assume the Primacy rating is still there in Current Gen, Next Gen once again has more ratings that control whether the player is the Go To player or not. It seems some work has been done with that for the Next Gen version, I can't comment on Current Gen since it wasn't on display.

Calm down
FF 13, you seen the videos for it, it looks like CGI but its real time (the fight scene).
