player ratings

Sat Jun 23, 2007 9:57 am

will the current gen use the players rating style of next gen? i think current gen only has 20 , example field goals, dribbling jumping, speed etc.. whereas the next gen has 80 if im not mistaken where there's rating for speed and first step, max speed..etc..

As far as I know, there's no information whatsoever about the current-gen yet, so there's no way to answer that...

There's plenty of information about Current Gen. Jaosming just posted a thread with new stuff about the current gen.

You guys mean last gen. And no, of course, they won't quadruple the number ratings, we'll be lucky if we get a downport of the "latest" features and not just a roster update.

They'd have to completely re-write the engine to use all those ratings, when the engine already doesn't really use a good number of the 20 now. They aren't going to do it, it's going to be Live 07 with a few tweaks and a roster update.

Im not so sure...but cant the current gen handle those kinds of ratings? it's not a graphics thing so i think they could do sumthing about that...it would be much more interesting for example carmelo anthony, u cud give him 78 max speed but an initial or 1st step speed of 90...sumthing like that...that would definitely change the game instead of those FSS..that would determine more the superstars i suppose..

Nothing's been said but if I had to guess, I'd say that the PS2 and Xbox (and hence the PC version) won't be utilising the additional ratings.

I hope this year the defensive ratings are useful, I will use Bowen to stop LeBron James.
Oh wait...that's impossible..

They would still have to re-write the engine. It's not just the graphics, but the gameplay is all controlled by the engine. And EA certainly isn't going to waste time on rewriting an engine for the last generation of consoles, they're just going to tweak the old one until the PS2 dies off.

Yeah, more ratings being used would be nice and improve the game, but it's not going to be in the PC version, until (or more accurately if) they port the X360 version.

where? he posted stuff all on next gen.

I believe Ben is referring to the fact that the consoles that are commonly referred to as Next Gen are really the current generation of consoles, while Current Gen actually refers to the previous generation of consoles.

Exactly. It took forever before people finally stopped calling the PS2 "Next Gen" and all three of the consoles have been out for over six months. The GameCube and Xbox are dead. We are in the "next generation" now.

It'd be easier to just go by the generation numbering. We are in the seventh generation (Xbox360/PS3/Wii), our lousy Live port will come from the sixth (Dreamcast/PS2/Xbox/GameCube) and it's been nine years since our PC Live came from the fifth (3DO/Jaguar/Saturn/Playstation/N64) but that damned media keeps calling the new systems "Next Gen" and then it trickles down.

The new systems have only been out a year or two and most people still play xbox or ps2 so people are going to still call 360 and ps3 next gen

it is going to take a while for folks to stop calling them next gen so there is no use in trying to correct something small like that
