Exactly, and there's a fair list to choose from, so if you've got a common name, your good
Wed Jun 20, 2007 8:51 pm
Yeah, even for the generated rookies they have names..
Thu Jun 21, 2007 11:38 am
Oh yeah, I guess when I made Derrick Rose they did say Rose.
Greg Oden was still number 20 though.
Thu Jun 21, 2007 5:35 pm
Yeah thats cos 'Oden' isnt in the list of Surnames.. I have noticed that occasionally they will say a name not in the list though, because they said 'Mbah a Moute' when i created UCLA's Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, which amazed me

Wait, you created a guy called 'Mbah a Moute' whose name wasn't on the list, but they still said it?

Who thought the Knicks could ever be successful again eh? I love the team I've assembled...and I think I've got a few moves I'm willing to make that will provide me with some extra cash and more income.
I totally love the roster I have.
C - Created Center - Shaq Style.
PF - Channing Frye
SF - Jared Jeffries
SG - Darrell Holmes (Draft)
PF - Nate Robinson
Backups:
C - Kendrick Perkins
PF - Maciej Lampe
SF - Stephen Jackson
SG - Kareem Rush
PG - Travis Diener
The Center commands double teams, Jeffries, Holmes and Robinson are excellent shooters. Frye can also hit the outside jumper with consistancy. The bench points usually come from Rush & Jackson, this group are also good shooters, Perkins just doesn't demand the double, so they use a lot of screens and pick & pop's.
Malik Rose and Kurt Thomas' huge contracts come off the books this offseason, should be interesting. I don't need to resign a lot of people, just Perkins, Lampe and Denier so far I know. Thomas and Rose won't be returning by the way.
Uhm, I went like 63 wins and 19 losses. (I think?) My chemistry is at around 60% and I'm 2 games away from sweeping the Suns in the NBA Finals. I wished I'd played the Spurs, we just run & gun better than the Suns do.
I'm trying to figure out if I should add Nowitzki or Carter to the line up this offseason. I'm leaning towards not doing it...because right now I've got quite a balanced attack, Holmes is really good at shooting and I've got a mini Shaq/Kobe thing going.
I am looking for that Horry-esque player, but I think Nowitzki's too big name for that role.
Wish me luck with the last two games, hopefully neither Holmes or my Center go down with injuries.
Actually, the Knicks default roster isn't that bad(in the game, anyway). Check out my Year 2 lineup on the previous page. I'm getting ready to play the Suns for the title.

Can I make CPU to substitute my players more often ?
Tue Jun 26, 2007 9:21 am
I'm sure this has been answered already, but i spent 20 minutes wading thru this thread and i couldnt find anything, but, in Association mode, how do you put players on the IRL and leave them there? I'm playing in the pre-season, and i want to give my second rounder some PT, but every time i try to edit the lineups and put Pau on the IRL and give second-rounder the start, the second rounder stays in the starting 5, but Pau is on the bench, and Malik Allen is missing (who i didnt do anything to)
Tue Jun 26, 2007 10:23 am
This may have been asked/answered before... but even using my best google-fu, I can't for the life of me find an answer...
How many seasons does association mode last? I've gone through 25 so far. Even the manual doesn't say.
Tue Jun 26, 2007 11:03 am
I think you can do 30 seasons.

Hmm, i dont seem to have any problem like this.. The only way they come off the IR (or even extremely low bench positions) due to the CPU, is if after ive had an injury or something, and let the CPU auto set line ups.. I even simmed an entire season with Kurt Thomas starting over Amare to check, and Amare didnt start once..
Wed Jun 27, 2007 10:49 am
But was Amare on the injured reserve or was he just coming off the bench? Cos i've got no problems with putting them on the bench i want to put them on the injured reserve.
Wed Jun 27, 2007 5:42 pm
I think there was a patch to fix the problem but you need an Live Gold account to download it. I only got gold recently, and hated that problem to the extent I wrote down my sliders so I could enter them again after the development.

I had him on the Injury Reserve

anybody interested if i posted my semi-updated rosters for ps3? i heard it could be done. i have all draft day trades and Oden & Durant and added a few rookies from last year to fill out teams that had guys that aren't even in the NBA anymore. ahem julius hodge. i should be adding main rookies like Jeff Green soon.
fuckin 2k is so lazy.
features:
added Ronny Turiaf, Craig Smith, David Noel, Allan Ray, Oleksiy Pecherov (who will be coming over this year), Oden, Durant (the random face I got for durant looks pretty simialr to him)
didn't try too hard on other faces.
didn't edit ratings, have all trades, iincluding mike James, Ray allen, Randolph trades.
fixed the numbers 2k couldn't get right for a whole year (Jarrett Jack who never wore #4, Battier, Gibson, DerMarr Johnson [who is also #3], etc)

Wondering if anyone can direct me to the 08 rookie caps?
Sat Jun 30, 2007 4:03 pm
So I got my 360 yesterday. I went out looking to rent 2k and all the places I went to didn't have much of a rental selection, so I found it used at gamestop and just bought it. JaoSming got me some sliders, but I am looking for an updated roster. My question is how do I get the roster, do I download it on the pc and tranfer it?
Sun Jul 01, 2007 5:47 am
Hook it up to XBox Live (your router, possibly), and go online to play, assuming you've got the 30-day Gold membership. It should force you to update the rosters.
I'm not exactly sure if you get the roster updates without having a Gold account, because I remembering get the first one while I still had the 30-day membership, but I don't recall ever downloading the second update after it expired. Weird.

A little update on my Knicks Dynasty:
I started off looking like this:
C - Created Center
PF - Channing Frye
SF - Mike Dunleavy
SG - Darrel Holmes
PG - Nate Robinson
C - Kendrick Perkins
PF - David Lee
SF - Jared Jeffries
SG - Kareem Rush
PG - Travis Dienier
Through some wheelin' and dealing (not too much, I think I only gave up Lee and Dunleavy plus a first round pick) and landed up with:
C - Created Center
PF - Channing Frye
SF - Jared Jeffries
SG - Darrell Holmes
PF - Nate Robinson
Backups:
C - Kendrick Perkins
PF - Maciej Lampe
SF - Stephen Jackson
SG - Kareem Rush
PG - Travis Diener
Since I gave up Lee + Dunleavy and only got back Jackson, I needed a PF. Hence the Lampe signing, he's got an outside shot and I like stretching the defense as much as possible. It's with that line up I won the championship. I liked Jackson coming off the bench for that little spark while my starters rested.
This season brought quite a few new faces but the core stayed the same. Figured I'd add some "key" players instead of messing with my core guys by adding a supahstah.
So here's what I look like right now:
Starters:
C - Created Center
PF - Channing Frye
SF - Jared Jeffries
SG - Darrel Holmes
PG - Nate Robinson
Bench:
C - Desagnia Diop - 1 year, 2.5 Million
PF - Hakim Warrick - 2 years, 3.5 Million
SF - Martell Webster - Traded Jackson for Webster, younger and more athletic. 5 years, 5.5 Million
SG - Kareem Rush - 1 year, 1.9 Million
PG - Monta Ellis - 1 year, 1.9 Million.
As you can see, my whole bench has been revamped. Besides Rush, every guy is a new guy.
I still have Perkins, Diener and Lampe on my roster. I'm happy with all of the new guys except Diop. He's...slow, fat and not what I'm looking for, Perkins fits my style of play. I'm planning on trading Diop (78??!) for a 72 rated second year Center on the Hawks. Explosive dunker, shotblocker and he's got height. This way I can put Perkins back in my bench line up and I've got a young one to develop.
I like this current team more than last years team because last year I didn't get many fast break points, the opposing team always outscored me on my fast break points. Now though, I'm getting almost equal to the opposing team or sometimes even more. With my starters I play a slow offense, I work the ball inside, then outside and inside again. Quite a slow set up offense. When my bench comes in though, they're young, fast and athletic (Warrick is a monster), the only negative is Diop and his slow ass.
To top it all off, I've got around 5 Million in cash to pick up another FA if I find needed. I'm under the cap and I've got an amazing and more importantly, young team.
This will be a tough offseason though, Robinson, Frye, Center, Rush, Lampe and Diop are all in their final year of their contracts. I wouldn't mind losing Frye, if his price is too high, I'm willing to let him go and replacing him with Warrick, he's impressed so far. Lampe can be the PF back up or I can pick up someone cheaper via FA.
Resigning my Shaq-like Center is priority number one then Robinson, Frye, Rush and Lampe. Rush I like too, he's basically my sixth man.
So yeah, let's see how this season turns out, except for dealing Diop, I don't think there will be lots of wheeling and dealing.

i finished my UMass season in CH2k7 and exported my created guy into the draft.
I simulated a Celtics season and ended up getting trades (proposed by the CPU) getting rid of wally and telfair for eddy curry and someone else. Got the #8 pick in the draft and my created player was supposed to go top 3 but dropped so I got him.
it was kinda fun for a little bit, but the game likes to glitch out on me a little too much, so I think im just going to stick with DiRT or GoW.

Wicked, a Jackal update
Is Holmes still killing?
I think ive asked this before, but you havent thought about replacing Nate?
