whatever happened to all the great dynasty stories? the ones where it spanned several seasons? seems now you get a few games and it gets ditched or restarted.

Personally I think it's Live's replay ability. I played like 50 games in my Bulls "franchise" with Live 2003 (12 min quarters) and never got bored. The only reason I stopped was because I finally got Live 2005. Live 05 is great, alot better than 03, but I get sick of being locked into animations and the fact I almost always know whats gonna happen.

If a guard come flying down the lane and I get Big Ben there in time, I know it'll be a block. It's the animation I know. In 03 I might take a huge swing and miss, or that ball could be going back to the halfway line.

Newer Lives just seem so predictable. It's like a movie, if you know whats gonna happen, it isn't as fun to watch or pay attention to as one where you never know whats gonna happen next.

Even so, I'm going at least 2 season with my dynasty. I migth even make an 08 draft patch and go for 3 seasons if 08 sucks as much as 07.

good point shannon. nba lives needs to do something about animation locks, so it feels more random you know.

I think it's a matter of the enthusiasm for making a Dynasty thread exceeding the interest in playing the Dynasty. Sometimes it takes about ten games to really get into a Dynasty especially if you're playing 82 games. A good, long lasting Dynasty thread should come from genuine enthusiam and enjoyment of a particular Dynasty game rather than setting out to do a story thread, since the dedication to the Dynasty is forced.

we could get rid of the block ones, but the steal one would have to stay unfortunately since we can't get "tap" steals anymore. But you can still block dunks and layups without going into the block animation.
Opinions are my own.

Yeah, I agree that the dynasty forum has gone to shit, but it isn't 100% NBA Live's fault. Recently, the forum has started to become dominated by younger members. With the veterans not making dynasties due to Live sucking, the new people are.

There are roughly 3-5 Live 07 dynasties that are good. The rest are 2-update spam-fests. With restarts, disappearing members and people making 20+ dynasties before realizing how much work it would be are making the Dynasty forum die. I wish there was a dynasty filter to be honest.

I'm going to stop sounding like the guy who leaves the forum and says a bunch of stupid things. I would like to praise the people who stick to their dynasties, and not make pointless 1-3 post and done stories.

That kind of ties in with what I was saying before. A good Dynasty thread comes from genuine enthusiasm about a Dynasty game and the desire to share the experience with your fellow gamers rather than simply setting out to create and maintain a Dynasty thread.
