Dear New York Knicks Fans:

Our season has come to an end. Unfortunately, it did not end as I had hoped it would. I was really looking forward to seeing us get swept in the first round again, but this lofty goal of mine will have to wait another year.

Why We Didn't Make the Playoffs

Isiah "said he believes the Knicks are the best 33-49 team ever assembled." I'm not sure if that's accurate, but the Knicks are certainly the most expensive 33-49 team ever assembled.

When I asked Isiah why we didn't make the playoffs, he blamed it on our injuries and on the Eastern Conference being too tough. I have since asked Commissioner David Stern to move us to the easier Western Conference next season and to investigate why we were the only team in the NBA with injuries.

Rewarding Isiah

I have also asked Commissioner David Stern to end all future NBA regular seasons on March 11th. If this year's regular season had ended on March 11th, we would have made the playoffs. That is why I rewarded Isiah with a multi-year extension on March 12th. Some have argued that my decision was premature. But I believe you can never reward greatness too early. In keeping with this winning philosophy, I have decided that ...

THE TIME HAS COME TO RAISE ISIAH'S NUMBER TO THE RAFTERS !!!

An Invitation

On June 28, 2007, the same day the Chicago Bulls will use our lottery pick to draft a player better than Eddy Curry, we will retire Isiah's number. And YOU'RE INVITED to the ceremony!

Come be a witness to history, when the Pantheon of Knicks Legends gets its newest and most-deserving member, ISIAH THOMAS!

Please Help Us Choose Isiah's Number

Isiah never played for the Knicks. So we're not sure what number to put on the back of his Knicks jersey. We have three options:

(a) .393, as in a ".393 winning percentage since December 22, 2003, the day Isiah began building our championship contender";

(b) 64, as in "64 games under .500 since December 22, 2003, the day Isiah began building our model franchise"; and

(c) 0, as in "0 playoff wins since December 22, 2003, the day Isiah began building our dynasty."

Please help us choose by voting in the Comments Section below.

A Moment of Silence

Before the ceremony begins, we will have a moment of silence to commemorate the deaths of The Scott Layden Excuse and The Larry Brown Excuse. But don't feel bad for Isiah. I can assure you he is already working on bigger and better excuses. And he has promised to acquire more players with uninsurable heart and back conditions so that he'll always have The Injury Excuse.

The Ceremony

As a practical joke, we have asked Don Chaney to be our Master of Ceremony. There's something ironic about Chaney, 72-112 (.391), having been fired by Isiah, 118-182 (.393), but I can't figure out what it is.

Seconds before the ceremony begins, Isiah will have MSG Security escort Don out of the building. I'm cracking up just thinking about it!

Eddy Curry

Isiah's number would not be going up in the MSG rafters were it not for Eddy Curry. In honor of Eddy's almost-an-All-Star-caliber season, we will present him with a gold-plated pedestal autographed by all of the 43 players who out-rebounded him this season.
Door Prizes

The Knicks fan who comes closest to guessing how much Isiah will spend this summer buying out Steve Francis and Jerome James will win tickets to next year's NBA Lottery in Secaucus, New Jersey. And 10 randomly-selected Knicks fans will win a free misdiagnosis by the Knicks Medical Staff.

Dancing Contest

5 randomly-selected Knicks fans will get to compete against Isiah in a limbo dancing contest. The Knicks fan who out-dances Isiah will win a full midlevel exception. But I should warn you:

When it comes to lowering the bar at Madison Square Garden, no one does it better than Isiah.

How to RSVP

RSVP by clicking the "Comments" icon below. The first 100 Knicks fans to RSVP will win free admission to a special Knicks camp, where Steve Francis and Nate Robinson will teach the fundamentals of "How to Behave When You're Being Blown Out" and "Big Mac Denial Defense."

RSVP Deadline

RSVP before Commissioner Stern invokes the "best interests of basketball" clause to have me declared mentally incompetent.

Closing Remarks

In closing, I leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

"Fools are my theme, let satire be my song."

Yours truly,

James "Brain-Dead" Dolan [/quote]

Reading that piece makes me want to cry, because it's dead on. And we're stuck with Isiah & Dolan.

Wed Apr 25, 2007 12:22 am

 that just shows how bad Knicks management is.

 that was hilarious.

Knicks fans are probably the funniest while most depressed fans in the NBA.

That was just brutal and hilarious.

I really feel for Knicks fans...because it's all so accurate.

The Bulls are going to get a better player then Eddie Curry in this years draft? Hilarious. As if 20 ppg scorers who shoot almost 60% grow on trees. Let's check Isiah's track record so far:

Positives:
Drafting David Lee.

Drafting Renaldo Balkman

Acquiring one of the top centers in the game for a fatter slower version of Eddy and a guy who never even played for the Bulls. Sure, Tyrus Thomas is starting to look like a pretty good player, but would you really want him when you already have a guy like David Lee? Yeah, Brandon Roy would have been nice, but sometimes you just gotta give some to get some, and Eddy Curry has played like a player worth trading for in New York.

Negatives:
Trading for Steve Francis. Sure this one is obvious. It brought them in to salary cap hell, but its not like the Knicks gave up an arm and a leg for him. They gave up an expiring and Trevor Ariza. Ariza has not developed in to anything, and doesn't look like he's going to. They were already in a bad salary cap situation, so that's why its a bad move to take on more salary, but Isiah just made a gamble that failed.

Signing Jerome James. No excuses here. Dumbass.

Signing Jared Jefferies for the entire MLE. Not really a huge mistake, just the contract is too big, and you don't really want to be offering too large contracts to guys when you are already in the shitter salary wise.

What it all comes down to is that the Scott Layden and Larry Brown excuses are valid ones for the reason that the Knicks have had such a bad record. Knicks fans need to embrace the fact that they have a GM who has an incredible eye for talent and be happy about that. Isiah will continue to grab quality players late in the first round and in the second round. As much as I hate to say it, Isiah will turn things around there and the Knicks will be back to business in less time then you all think.

Wed Apr 25, 2007 4:20 am

Zeke does have an eye for scouting talent, no question. He's an ok coach, but GM? Hell no. I'd feel better about the Knicks' future if Dolan forced Isiah to give up his GM duties and hired someone with busines sense(of course that's not going to happen).

But the Knicks problems go beyond Isiah. This franchise has gone into the toilet ever since Dolan and his Cablevision cronies took over. Dolan would be satisified with losing in the second round for ten straight years as long as the Garden is sold out. To motivate the team last month, he played them a CD of his stupid blues band. He's nothing but a spoiled rich man's son who was given a new toy to play with. How can I be confident with an idiot like that in charge?

Wed Apr 25, 2007 6:17 am

.. yet stupid Knicks fans continue to make the franchise profitable for Dolan.

Stop going to the games and watching MSG for christ sake.

Wed Apr 25, 2007 10:47 am

He has a good eye for talent in the case of two college guys, but can't predict that Jerome James, Francis, Nate Robinson, and Mardy Collins all lack a basketball I.Q. and are thus horrendous signings.

I almost feel bad for the Knicks fans, but not quite since I'm miserable enough as a Celtics fan who knows that after Len Bias and the 1997 lottery there's no way we're getting a top-two pick.

Wow, that was amazing.

Isiah's had some good drafts, but he'd always screw himself in the ass with piss-poor mid-level exception signings.

Normally I'd agree, but I don't see anyone else in contention for a top pick that the league would want to help out. I think Boston gets the #1 pick.

the problem is that's all he does. His rebounding is pathetic, and what he scores he gives up.

The irony is, the #2 spot is actually the place to be. It solves the Oden-Durrant delima for you.

I like what we have and I like the direction we're headed in. At the end of this season there will be only one winner and 29 losers. We'll be one of the 29.

They're in the same level as Miami (who are about to be swept in the first) now?

I was more concerned about the respect of myself as an individual than I was job security, the what I stood for in the game of basketball and the way my basketball legacy has been,” Thomas said. “I didn’t want to have a failure here. That was my concern, not necessarily if I was going to have a job

Too late for that, he already ruined a league (CBA) and a storied NBA franchise.

No one is saying that Brown’s only year in New York was his finest hour. But think about what Brown did and said last year and see if it sounds familiar:

• Brown told Thomas that they needed to get rid of several high-priced veteran players who were taking up space on the bench. After replacing Brown as head coach, Thomas cut Jalen Rose and Maurice Taylor.
• Brown felt the team needed to shift away from Stephon Marbury being the focal point of the offense and establish Eddy Curry as a low post presence.
• Brown wanted to ship Nate Robinson to the D-League. Go hook Thomas up to a lie detector and ask him for his true feelings about Robinson.
• Brown wasn't convinced that Channing Frye could be a big-time power forward.
• Brown wanted to sign free agent Jared Jeffries.

Isiah basically did what Larry Brown wanted in the first place. Whooop for Isiah.

They are 8-11 when Stephon Marbury is the leading scorer.

They are 9-12 when Eddy Curry is the leading scorer.

So much for Eddy Curry being a monster of the Knicks future.

The Knicks did the right thing a few years ago by bringing Willis back but I get the feeling that he believed he would be more involved in the day-to-day operation. He eventually left after Isiah Thomas’ first season in New York.

Isiah's influence also extend to Knicks legends!

No, I wouldn't say that," Marbury said when asked if injuries had robbed the Knicks. "Other teams went through exactly what we went through. I mean, the timing of it was bad, but that's something that does happen

That's contrary to what Isiah is saying...
He (Thomas) would rather remind reporters that injuries have factored heavily into the record.

Around here (Chicago), 100 points and a win gets you a free Big Mac. And 22,296 Chicagoans were hungry.

Curry, a former Bull, knew about the Big Mac promotion

So that's why Curry is so damn fat.

Since Reggie Miller is retired, Isiah is the new "Knicks Killer".
