Why is it the end of us? I'm praying that they move to new gen although I'm not holding my breath.

Because you would need an ultra fast computer, the requirements would be very high and I don't believe many people would have the beast to run the game just yet .

As for the game.
I'll believe it when I see it.I've been disappointed this year when I got my hopes up and I don't plan to do this year again. And since I'm getting a console in a few days, I'm looking forward to 2k7,which will hoppefully keep me occupied until 2k8 or maybe if a great game is released, live 08 .

Not really, If they have it then it's fine for the people that like it, but I don't really care if it's in or not. I'drather play a 5 on 5 game

Isn't Brian the same guy who dd the Ps2 Version of 07. . .we all know how that ended up  , but imma give him a 2nd chance, cause I know they have no choice but to work hard on this game

its the same every year, i just hope 2k sports release 1 for PC

Thu Apr 19, 2007 3:58 pm

Thu Apr 19, 2007 4:17 pm

nah he was the big man on the next gen project. they had separate nextgen and current gen teams.

All I'm gonna say about the article and the q&a session is that "Talk is cheap!"

At E3 we will see if their money is where their mouth is or not...

No mention of the all-star weekend is a good sign. I've been saying this for years. It's just glitz and glamour and has very little to do with the actual game and the major mode "Dynasty"... So if they aren't raving about the AS weekend, maybe they are doing something that is actually worth a damn in the end.

But we'll see what kind of hype words they come up with this year... And they really should just push back the release to oct-november sector so they would have time to test and fix before the release... And not rush a unfinished product into the market.

I think the 60fps is key. Personally, i hope they redraw every single animation and maybe take a look at NBA 2k7 and capture individual animations for players.

I'm not sure the E3 is gonna help this year, it's apparently not gonna be what it used to. Many developers right now are organizing their own promotional events to show what they've been up to, so EA will probably do that too at some point.

it´s funny how every year people say this... This year I have no faith left in EA, I did the past years but not anymore so, i hope they disappoint me again...

Yeah, all of that really sounds familiar... :?
I'm pretty sure EA will do a much better job for the next-gen versions this time around, but I really don't think we'll see a vast improvement for the PC version, once again. There probably won't be the substitution bug and the PG domination, but that's pretty much it...
The more I play Live'07, the more I get bored with it and I realize its weaknesses, besides the obvious bugs and issues that were mostly fixed with the patch. I'm really disappointed with the physics, the AI and the visuals, and I don't think Live '08 will change any of that unfortunately...

I agree ... I think they won't make some big improvements on the pc version

That's fair enough. Personally I think it's a nice touch to have as it adds to the NBA experience that NBA Live is emulating but to each their own. I certainly agree that the regular 5-on-5 game and Dynasty Mode should be the focus which would seem to be the case.

I'm fairly certain it's still in the game, it's just not the focus which is the way I'm sure most of us feel it should be. I'd have to disagree it has very little to do with the game because the All-Star Weekend is a prominent event in the NBA calendar but in terms of NBA Live I certainly agree that it's not the most pressing issue.

scratching head

Anyway, EA you have to make 5 on 5 the number one priority going forward. Basketball SIM(s) seems to be a niche genre to me so your handling of this will be key to future "real success" with the franchise. When you have legitimate competition you can't fall flat. Gimmicks and add-on features won't cut it in the future nor will subtracting features/replacing features or ignoring legitimate FAN input (not that EA has)

NBA Live 04 was one of the better EA basketball simulator,2005-was full of weird bugs,2006-was nice, but gameplay with freestyle moves was unreal,2007-a lot of bugs, crapy gameplay, the game was not playable but some guys like Jimy,UTO,KJ made this game attractive, thanks to them.I really want that 08 would by a lot better than past EA simulators.

Sun Apr 22, 2007 8:32 am

The main problem EA has is that they're trying to fix a crappy game like Live 07 was... it's really hard to come up with a decent basketball simulator. They should build it from the scratch, but we saw on Live 06 for XBOX360 how they do that. So basically, their situation can be represented in this graphic:

In summary, what comes from crap results in crap.

Tue Apr 24, 2007 7:00 am

I think sometimes EA tries to add too much to their game in one year, and they forget about what really matters

Tue Apr 24, 2007 5:26 pm

After watching Houston-Utah earlier, I thought that there was something really striking as to what seems to be consistently wrong with the Live series: it just doesn't feel like the EA folks actually watch NBA games, ever...

Besides all the visual details that would make the game a more immersive experience (which are obviously dependent on the evolution of PC technology), the entire gameplay seems so flawed compared to the real thing. No matter how many sliders tweaked and patches installed, playing Live (at least on PC) just never feels close at all to the real deal.
You can tweak the speed all you want, the pace and rythm of the game is never realistic (especially in transition); you can change the primacy ratings, the freestyle efficiency setting, or any other rating, you never see as much post play, as many fadaway shots (not just from the superstars), as many passes deflected,...
Instead, you see Wade dunking on 3 people on every possession, big men like Boozer, Brand and also Yao only playing 3 feet away from the basket instead of mostly attempting mid-range shots, PGs only good at layups and 3s,...

Sorry for the rant, but it was so clear while watching that game, I had to share it... And I really hope that 08 will do a better job regarding all these things, next-gen or not...

Tue Apr 24, 2007 5:40 pm

for me it's ok not to move next-gen and keep the old graphics (may be tweaked a'lil), heck, i think my pc can't handle next-gen the important thing is improve the gameplay of 5on5 first that anything else.

Tue Apr 24, 2007 7:51 pm

Yes that's exactly why I don't want Next-Gen graphics.

Tue Apr 24, 2007 8:11 pm

its ok if they could implement that next generation tingy as long as the gameplay is good and the graphics are good cus i like to have a xbox graphics in nbalive 2008 in pc like moving hair and jerseys .. i hope they could make that improvements ..

Tue Apr 24, 2007 8:33 pm

i'm always for the progression of the game so if they decide to make it next gen on pc then it would still be fine and dandy overall... what tears me up though on a patcher's perspective would be the high possibility of not making the game customizable anymore when it hits next gen, i patched the nba live games for as long as i can remember... starting from tim tschirner's toolkit up to the present, so it would suck big time if i wouldn't be able to tweak the game to my liking anymore since next gen means new format of files as well, and with that being said... all the applications that we are currently using for editing/patching would likely become useless with those new format of files...

It would probably take a little while, but with all the fine patchers on this forum, I'm pretty sure that some new tools and methods would eventually come up even if the game's structure changes dramatically. Just a wild guess, but I trust this community's resources...

As long as the PC version is ported from the original Xbox and PS2 versions that probably isn't going to be the case.

IT would be nice if play calling had more meaning in the game, I would like to see non play callin opponents penalized for not running a play to get easy basket, there are exception that I can live with but it would help make for a sim type instead of the arcadish feel many complain about annually.
