Bonzi Wells... haha

Thu Apr 12, 2007 8:02 am

From First to Worst.... lol

HOUSTON -- Bonzi Wells has played in his final game this season.

The Rockets swingman has been placed on the inactive list for the remainder of the season after missing Monday's game at Seattle. He was also fined by the team for his absence.

Wells did not join the team for its pregame walkthrough on Monday morning and wasn't in the arena before the game. He had played in the two previous games after being on the inactive list for over a month.

Wells played in 28 games, averaging 7.8 points and 4.3 rebounds.

wtf? is he out of his mind? bet he doesn't wanna stay in the team anymore and hope some other teams pick him up in the playoff..i think he wants a ring.. :P

Thu Apr 12, 2007 9:36 am

He might not play another game anymore. I don't think a lot of teams can tolerate him.

Thu Apr 12, 2007 12:51 pm

deserves him right, seriously, he had potential to be a great 6th man this season and screwed it up

Thu Apr 12, 2007 6:36 pm

Ainge might pick him up. Even Miami. Or Atlanta.
That is if he signs up cheap.

Guess he shouldn't had turned down that multi million dollar offer from the Kings last year - he'll have a tough time finding anyone who wants him on the roster for next season.

Thu Apr 12, 2007 6:48 pm

I also read that the Rockets aren't releasing him... He just won't play ball this season any more.

Was this Bonzi's one and done... We'll see. He's got some game, but he really didn't find his place in Houston at any point during this season. I think he could do better in a new place and setting. He ain't the best chemistry guy in the world, but I don't think he's the worst either. It just didn't pan out for him in Houston.

We'll see how this story develops...

i think hes gonna be like latrell sprewell.. great player but becoz of a bad ass attitude and work ethic.. plus pride (doesnt wanna sign as cheap), they are forgotten.. Might as well call them as "the forgotten"

I had almost forgotten about him!

Great player when he wasn't choking his coach or crying like a little girl over money, playing time, touches etc.

Does anyone know if he has officially retired?

Fri Apr 13, 2007 4:39 am

I don't think he's officially retired, but my guess is that nobody will take him and his attitude again. Maybe in Europe or Chile.

I think Spree is closing in on 35 years old, it would be unlikely than anyone would ever pay him what he thinks he deserves again.

The Knicks will.

I'm a fan of Wells' game, but definitely not his persona. The guy makes it so hard to root for him when he keeps on doing stupid things like these that just continue to tarnish his reputation.

The 06-07 Rockets drive me nuts - they've got a bunch of players I like, such as Novak, Spanoulis, Battier, and Hayes, but their two All-Stars are almost always hurt and they have an irritating guy like Wells on the roster. They would be such a good team to watch without the endless string of injuries.

He hasnt been released yet, a trade for a round pick or a solid back-up PG for Rockets should do it.

The return of Steve Francis!?!

Great player

What? Latrell Sprewell had ONE all-star level season in 1996-97. Other than that he was a barely above average two guard. He just played around 40 minutes a game on the Knicks and shot a lot to get a high points per game average, and everyone thought he was some kind of star. He was basically only a "winner" in '94 and '99, other than that he was a loser. The 2004 Timberwolves correctly spotted him as a third option for spillover possessions, just like the Warriors ten years earlier.

If healthy, the team is good enough to be mentioned with the top three of the West. Nobody can guard both Yao and McGrady, and they can be surrounded with the efficient shooting of Head, Battier and Hayes. They're the best defense in the league, with Yao all season they'd probably be a top ten offense.
