First off I would like to thank "-KM-" and "IgOt5OnIt," for whom my dynasty layout was based on. Thanks for the ideas guys. Hopefully this will live up to what you've done so far. As for the game, it;s NBA Live 05 which I think is much much better in comparison to other NBA Live brands. But it's just me. But enough with the nonsense, time to get started. .::OFF-SEASON TRANSACTIONS::.

As the 2005-2006 season came to a start, coach Mike Woodson began looking at serious prospects for his "new team image". He looked at several possible players but eventually stayed devoted to one. His name, Jon Soto. Jon Soto, fresh out of college (CAL STATE), was a 2-time MVP for his basketball team and led them to 2 title championships. Although his stats are big, his stature is not. Standing at a mere 5'10", Jon Soto was often dogged because of his height, but showed his skills and vision on the court and gained much more respect. Mike Woodson has set his eyes on the future point guard of the Atlanta Hawks Organization.

Strengths: Excellent speed to run the fast break, decent 3-point shooting, good court vision, nice lock-down defender.

Weaknesses: Poor vision in the NBA, not too sure about him leading the team yet, tenses up under pressure causing him to freeze during situations, a little turnover prone.

Coach Mike Woodson also looked in the free agency and signed potential difference makers. He put his time and effort to sign both Marcus Fizer (SF) and DJ Mbenga(C) to provide his team with decent big men options.



Strengths: Excellent rebounder who can grab boards offensively and defensively. Strong enough to get points in the paint for us.

Weaknesses: Gets tired a little too easily. Stamina would be a big problem for him. Poor court vision defensively. Don't count on him to make defensive plays for us too soon.



Strengths: Big strong man with a 7'0" stature. He can grab boards on both sides of the ball. Decent blocking skills with a decent inside scoring skill.

Weaknesses: Poor vision on the court. Poor jumping skills but with 7'0" stature, shouldn't be a problem. Poor stamina, gets tired too easily as well. We'll need to work on him, he's still young and can make an impact for us.

In an amazing deal! A deal that Atlanta fans won't be happy with, Mike Woodson has traded their real veterans, Antoine Walker(PF) and Tony Delk(PG) to the Charlotte Bobcats for Jason Kapono(SG) and Eddie House(PG). When asked about this trade, Mike Woodson said, "Im looking to take this team towards a new direction. And the only way of doing that was to trade Walker and Delk for future star Kapono and the speedy shooter House. To even out the roster, Woodson has moved Al Harrington to power forward and will put Josh Smith in the starting line-up.



Strengths: Excellent 3-point shooter when left open. He can almost do it all on offense.

Weaknesses: Bad defense. Although he should provide SOME good defense considering he's in the shooting guard position.



Strengths: Very quick. Decent all around shooter. Good defense. The combo of him and Soto will prove to be very deadly as they both have the speed and the ability to shoot over defenders.

Weaknesses: Not much on house. He's a decent all around defender and offensive threat. Will update when weakness gets exploited.

.::Training Camp/ Key Progressions::.

As the season opener against the Miami Heat gets closer and closer, Mike Woodson quickly had his team complete the 2005-2006 training camp period. There were a few player standouts that showed great improvement on their game:

As Mike Woodson looked on at his new team, he hoped that that would be enough to have a successfull 2005-2006 season. As he walked out of the gym into the press conference area, the room was filled with photographers and newspaper wiriters. All in the room for one purpose. the ATLANTA HAWKS.

Mike Woodson

What factored in your decision to accept the Hawks head coaching position? And please give me information about your assistant coaches?

Mike Woodson: The big factor was, I felt it was my time. I was an assistant for eight years, and learned my craft patiently, on how to be a head coach. When you get an opportunity in this league, mine just happened to be after eight years, you have to take it. I interviewed with Toronto and Atlanta, after striking out on three interviews last year. It was a good situation to take the Hawks job. On the second question, my assistants are Larry Drew, who is in the league for about 13 years as assistant, Herb Brown, Larry's brother, who I stole from Larry. Greg Ballard from Minnesota is here too, Bobby Bender and David Fizdale are also on staff.

Coach - I like your clothes but with the promotion to head coach--are you planning an upgrade in wardrobe? Serioulsy, I read somewhere that last season before the Knicks hired Lenny Wilkens that Isiah Thomas considered you for that position. How accurate is that and I guess you are happy to have won a ring with the Pistons but were you discouraged when the other potential head coach jobs did not go your way?

Mike Woodson: I'm not really into the clothes deal. I just try and look presentable. I'm happy with the way I dress. As far as the coaching, I'm not displeased about missing the chance to coach in New York. I did get a call from Isiah, but he elected to go with Lenny Wilkens, and you can't argue with that, it was a great choice. Lenny is an alltime coach in this league and I consider him a great role model. I stayed in Detroit and now I'm happy to be a head coach in Atlanta.

Your team seems to have to many small forwards on your team with Josh Smith, Josh Childress, and Marcus Fizer how will you handle that?

Mike Woodson: Josh Smith and Josh Childress are in the learning mode, with great upsides, if they learn and work hard. They can be great players in this league. I think Marcus Fizer, who I've watched from afar and admired for years, is a small forward who can do alot of things right now on the floor. He is a well-mannered, good guy, and I look forward to working with him.

What does Soto and House bring to the Hawks?

Mike Woodson: They bring leadership to our team. House has played in some big games in his league and has been a great contributor. He is a piece we had to have. He can play the 2 and the 1 and is a proven player. He can do many things on the floor. He can be a big part of what we're trying to build in Atlanta. He's a good person off the floor too, so he fits that mold for us. Jon Soto is also an excellent player, a steady player. He can hit his shot and defend the basketball. We are pleased to have both of these guys on our team, and we are looking for big contributions from them this year for us to be successful.

What is the most important thing for the asst. coach to provide to his head coach?

Mike Woodson: I think probably the most important thing i loyalty. Secondly, the will and drive to work. There is alot of work involved in coaching in the NBA today, and I'm not sure everyone realizes that. But for a Head Coach to succeed, he will been big contributions from his staff. We need to work hard and put together good game plans in order to put our players in position to win games.

Long lost KC Kings fan here and wanted to know what was your best moment in KC or in the NBA?

Mike Woodson: Well, probably my best moment came in 1983 in Kansas City. I was in my final year of my contract, and having a good year. I led the league in scoring off the bench that year. One night in KC that year, I made 22 of 24 shots, including 16 in a row, and I thought I was never gonna miss a shot. It was probably my greatest moment in my greatest year as a player in the NBA.

I guess you played against Dominique Wilkins when you were in the NBA, so do you have a favorite 'Nique moment?

Mike Woodson: Well, I don't have a favorite, but I know he was the Human Highlight Film. He was as explosive a player as this league has ever seen. There were nights when nobody could stop him. He was a great player in our league...on and off the court. I'm happy he is a part of the Hawks organization and a big part of what we're trying to accomplish here in Atlanta.

Where did your relationship with Larry Brown begin and will you still call him for advise as the season unfolds?

Mike Woodson: My relationship with Larry goes back to 1981, when I was traded to New Jersey, where I played for him briefly, before he traded me to Kansas City, where my career took off. Then we were apart for a bunch of years, and in 1998 or 1999, I teamed up with him again in Philadelphia, where I was an assistant for him. The second part of that is, I will call him from time to time, and I have already. I go to him for advice on players and coaching strategies. In my opinion, Larry Brown is the best coach in the NBA, and I fully expect to be calling him for advice.

Ok, you were just on the staff that defeated Shaq in the Finals and now you end up coaching in the same division he is traded to, how did that make you feel and what can you do to halt his production.

Mike Woodson: Well, I think Shaq is the best, most dominant player in our league. It's gonna be tough. But we are putting together a team of guys committed to working hard and winning games in Atlanta. Shaq is a threat to every team in every game, the only thing you can try and do is contain him and really stop the guys around him. It's a tough job. From a coaching standpoint, I think the Hawks can use all the support we can get as we look to get better. We really do appreciate all the support of the fans in Atlanta and in Georgia. I hope fans will come out and see us play, and we'll work hard to get you on board as we get this team headed into the right direction. Thanks to everyone for chatting today.

Strengths: Shaq dominates on the low-block, and his partner D-Wade will tearyou apart on the perimeter with his pull-up jumper, and his spectacular drivesto the basket. Oh, and when their done tearing you apart, they'll give it up to their excellent three-point shooters.Defensively, they are a good ball-club. Take it into the paint for a lay-up and Shaq will swat the ball like a fly.
Weaknesses: Don't have many weaknesses. On some nights their bench will be anon-factor, and on others they will destroy you. Just keep applying pressure to D-Wade and Shaq, and make their supporting cast beat you.

Key players: PG Steve Francis, SG Cuttino Mobley, SF Grant Hill, PF Dwight Howard

Strengths: Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley play very well as a backcourt sincethey have been together for years. Francis can take over games with his all-around brilliant play, and Cuttino Mobley will destroy you with his accurate shooting and athletic drives to the rim. Grant Hill can hit the open jumper, and Howard will control the paint every night.

Weaknesses: Defense is a problem, as is rebounding. Their bench isn'tspectacular, but are inconsistent on a night-to-night basis. They are alsoprone to commit a lot of turnovers with Steve Francis primarily handling the ball.

Key players: PG Kirk Hinrich, SG Ben Gordon, PF Tyson Chandler, C Eddy Curry

Strengths: Kirk Hinrich can simply light it up from downtown if left open. Theyhave a solid low post game with Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler controlling the paint both on the offensive and the defensive end of the floor. Defensive rebounding is important. DO NOT give them a lot of offensive rebounds, or they will make you pay. Ben Gordon can hit the outside shot, and is as clutch as they get. He is also a prolific scorer.

Weaknesses: Mid-range shooting is weak, but they can hit a lot of three's if they are left open. They also rely on offensive rebounding and second-chance points, so limit their offensive rebounds.

Key players: SG Corey Maggette, PF Elton Brand

Strengths: They have a very solid low-post game with Brand and C Chris Kamanpatrolling the paint on defense. Brand is a premiere power forward, and can take over a game instantly. Corey Maggette is a rising star on the perimeter.He has a suspect jumper, but can use his size and strength to back down his defender. The Clippers will spread the court to try and take advantage of their excellent spot up shooting.

Weaknesses: They are a weak rebounding team, and have a weak bench. They rarely get much help offensively off the bench, so limit the amount of second-chance points you give to their starting team.
