THe GrAphIcZ fOr nBa LiVe 2004!

Postby ailive2005 on Tue Sep 02, 2003 8:46 am

I personally think that the player faces are an upgrade from last years game, but the body models seem to be nothing close to last years and NBA Live 2003 had the best body models they just needed to tone down the muscle tones of the players, plus the look of the net needs a more realistic look, Live 2001 had the best look of the net for ps2. It is said that EA started (sort of) from scratch, you know rebuilding the game including Authentic NBA arenas, a 3d front row, proportioned NBA courts (which looks to be dead on) in the process which all looks great might i add. I am not gonna judge the game too harshly cause it is yet to be released and it is not fair to judge a beta version of the game, especially with that starting from scratch junk (except for a few thing being kept from past Live games). I just felt that this tread is needed for us fans to let EA know what we think so far, so they don't get satified with the body models and the look of the net in the beta version of the game.

P.S. I am an console gamer (preferable xbox) so that is my main reason for starting this tread.

I don't think any NBA Live staff actually reads these forums.

In my opinion, the cyberfaces and the body models in Live 2004 look too cartoonish. Good thing PC users can patch the graphics.

The grapichs do look cartoonish but maybe they will change that by release time.

I know that a few members of the production team do read these boards from time to time. That being said, posting something in the NLSC Forum or on EA's boards won't guarantee its inclusion in NBA Live.

I'm still not too worried about the graphics. EA always manages to put together a game that looks nice. I'd be more worried if we had excellent graphics but the previews hinted at unrealistic gameplay.

I agree about the nets. Since 2002 they havent been able to create a realistic net because they tried to have more than one animation other than the swish and they shot themselves in the foot with the result I think. I know people think about other things and the net is minor, but for some reason the net animation is SO important to me and it can determine whether or not I play the game or not.

Call me crazy.

NBA Live 2001 had a pretty good net animation. I also thought 2001 had some of the best backboard/rim animations after dunking.

I don't really have a gripe with the body models either. As I said before:

No you're not Nick :) , i saw the preview and i really dig the game the way it is in there already, but maybe im just too easily satisfied, but just like some ppl said here before, they basically had to start from zero and well imho they did a good job then, and if u think about it, the perfect game wont be created even if they could cuz they wouldnt have to make any others anymore, only roster updates, think about it, there's oftenly suggested that lots of programs and software are comin out with bugs so that ppl have to buy new software and stuff

There body models looks Ok but we all know EA could do better, like add fur shading textures to the fro's for that fuzzy look, or add bump mapping to the jersey with holes in them, or even add a sheen texture to make silky jersey like the sixers away blue jersey look silky. But! I'm not gonna say too much until Oct. 8 a day after I get the game in my hands and spend some quality time with it (and I do mean quality time, ).

Ok, they delayed NBA Live 2004 a week (according to Gamestop.com). i hope this means, not only are they going to be testing the game for bugs thoruoghly but adding some polygons to the body models and a bunce more to the players faces. I was just looking at NBA Inside Drive at http://www.nlgaming.com/nl/asp/id_117/n ... ewDisp.htm and boy the faces are increadible (i know it may be because it is a Xbox only game, but it's no excuse cause NBA 2k4 is looking just as good if not better) although the body models aren't all that the game is looking increadible graphically, as far a features go I think Live will do that almost perfectly.

Gamestop also said that Half Life 2 was delayed until febuary 2004...needless to say..they aren't completely reliable.

You're not crazy. You are absolutely correct, in my opinion. It would be weird to see the net swish the wrong way when you make a shot.
