franchise of the future

Mon Sep 01, 2003 5:04 am

this poll is simple......which team, in your opinion, is the team most likely to dominate in the near future based on the foundation and talent they have right now. kind of like an earlier poll i did, but considering long term improvement instead.

san antonio spurs
i know, i know, they just won the championship, so how can they be the team of the future? simple, their whole complexion has changed, and their key figure-- tim duncan is still fairly young and probably hasnt hit his peak yet. add that to younglings tony parker, manu ginoboli, turkoglu, nesterovic, and good support players who are mid-aged: bruce bowen, ron mercer, malik rose, robert horry, kevin willis....... (Y) (Y) up.

memphis
jerry west has some good talent to mix with here.

cleveland
bron bron. nuff said.
add boozerz, wagner, ricky, iggy, miles, mucho talent, question? chemistry.

houston rockets
yao + franchise = destiny?

phoenix suns
marbury, marion, stoudemire = young, very, very talented all stars (exception stoudemire, but i'm assuming he has goods to become one)
add penny and joe johnson, future looks bright.

orlando magic
tmac CAN do it alone, but he cant win it all alone. gooden, giricek, enough? grant hill miracle? who knows.

denver nuggets
nice, nice core. melo good as supposed to be? white a star in the making? hilario? schistlivi? big question marks, potential for big team.

chicago bulls
will the old bull teach the young bulls some lessons? ty chandler and eddy curry have the makings of the next twin towers.

pistons
all depends on milicic

indiana pacers
will carlise be able to shape up artest? nice foundation of o'neal, big question marks of conversion of big talents bender, harrington, and to a degree tinsley into players.

again, sorry if a team is missed, there is no room in the poll

oh yeah, if you like, state your pick and why.

my pick, i think, is san anton. i really like the parts on this team and how its been built. as i said parker, manu, turkoglu are all really good young players. but they have incredible role players in malik, horry, nestorovic, ant carter, willis.

this is a close race though since i really like the feel of the bulls and nuggets too, and phoenix looks nice, so with houston and memph, and olrando, and detroit, and..............

hell, everybody looks good  tough decision

I said bulls, cause not only eddy curry and tyson chandler, they also got jamal crawford, and if he can come back jay williams....

I think Toronto will be a succesful franchise in the not-so distant future, if VC can play as his normal self, we will be fine, and in a couple of years when Chris Bosh (who has been overlooked because LeBron, Melo and Darko have been getting all the attention) starts to come around as a legit double-double guy and replaces Antonio Davis at the Power Forward/Center position, we will have two very solid core players. Next year, Michael Curry, Hakeem Olajuwon, Eric Montross will come off our payroll, and this will give us significant cap room.

The only other team that I think will be succesful in the future are the Bulls, as kobes_4real has stated above, you can't go wrong with Curry, Chandler and Crawford.

i think Toronto.but it is not in the poll so i'll take Suns...Amare is only 19 and he's averaging the best numbers for a teenager and that proves alot..he is better than Kobe,T-Mac,even KG in their rookie season so that says alot...he's gonna be dominate come the next few years..Marbury isn't as selfish as he use to be and Marion can throw it down with his althletsism...add this year's PG Barbosa and Carbarkpa into the mix and they are hard to in 3-5 years...
also Sonics are a good core too...if Lewis can prove he is worth that much money and Barry gets steady numbers...it is gonna help Ray Allen alot...add Radmonivic,Dronjbak and two rookies Ridnour and Collison they are gonna improve lots from last season...

i say pacers...harrington,bender and tinsley...if they develope a bit more...now you add already proven players, such as o'neal, artest and reggie ... ...a very nice mixture i say

My Picks: First the bulls, I really dig Eddy's playing style (reminds me of shaq!!) and Chandler is good in what he does.

Second pick, Phoenix suns, Matrix=Talent, Marbury=Talent...and I've got a thing for big men with a power game...which is Stoudemire. I like these two teams...(Y) Amare!!

I would have chosen Toronto but since they r not in the poll I have to go with SA cause tim duncan wont be retiring anytime soon!
