Wait you're 5'6" and can do that dunk? How high was that rim man? That's really impressive, next Nate Robinson lol.

How do you dunk though? I'm 5'9" can barely touch rim..

Well, can't dunk. I get my fun by making 360/between-the-legs/behing-the-back/switch-hands variation layups.

And of course dunking on lower rims

Fri Mar 02, 2007 3:35 am

Me too  But im only 14, and im just about 3-5 inches from the rim on real rims. I might post a dunk mixtape on small nets by me and my friend, it will probably be a good laugh for you guys

Fri Mar 02, 2007 4:03 am

Oh please no! Another "Hey I'm 4'9" and I can dunk on an 50' rim!!!!!!1" thread.
Damn! Is dunking that important? Hell, John Stockton never dunked in his career and he's maybe the best ever NBA point guard.

Oh and anyways, 1.73 m isn't 5'6", it's 5'8".

Fri Mar 02, 2007 4:04 am

just click my website button and you'll see all my mixes I made in 2005. some from the summer when i was at home, and some when I was on the basketball team at Vermont Technical College.

If you want to see some good dunks check out these ones
"VTC Pickup 2005 Highlights"
"VTC Pickup Sept. 8th"
" VTC Dunks"
" Turners Dunks"
"VTC Teaser Video"
"USCAA Dunk Contest 2005"
"USCAA Dunk Contest 2005"

But every video has at least 1 dunk in it I believe.

Oh and remember, this was a college team. Im 6'6", some guys are 6'8" so we are big, all the rims we dunk on are regulation 10'.

Linkage for the lazy

5.6 Feet doesn't mean 5"6. Remember a foot has 12 inches in it, not 10.

Anyway, those dunks were pretty damn good for 5"8 (time to change your sig ). Although I would have to see you testing your vert to believe you have a 45 inch jump. In those videos it didn't look like you got very high on your dunks.

Impressive nonetheless, dunking at 5"8 is a tough feat (Y)

By the way, is your jumping natural ability?

I mean, were you always able to jump high compared to other players, or did you do polymetrics or jumping programs to get your vert that big?

i can show y'all a dunk where i get my head rim-level

Wouldn't mind seeing that

By the way, I reckon the under the legs dunk off 2 feet is the almost hardest dunk to do. Maybe its because I prefer jumping off one foot though. I'm 5"6, I can't jump that high but I am alright, but I'm no where near dunking. For you to be 2 inches taller and putting down a between the legs off 2 foot is damn impressive (Y)

Stock was a great player....not that spectacular, but yet a great player in his era....but if you look around the small guards in the NBA now-days most of them CAN dunk(Chris Paul, TJ Ford, Ray Felton)
So stop hating man !

John Stockton just a great player? We're talking about the man that holds the NBA record for steals and assists! (you know, point guards should pass the ball, not dunk it)
Also, you (or anybody else) saying that he's not spectacular just proves how ignorant you are and that you know little to nothing about the game: Stockton did not show off, like every single player in the NBA today. He thought about his teammates before shooting, but most importantly: he kept things simple. That is what makes a player SPECTACULAR.

Most players in today's NBA aren't spectacular, they are too busy trying to make things flashy, shooting from center court and making 360-between-both-legs-twice dunks so that they can participate in the All-Star game and the Slam Dunk contest.

So, the fact that most point guards in the NBA dunk doesn't make them better than point guards from the past.
IMO Point guards from this era will never reach the level of point guards from the past.

I'm not hating on you. It's great if you're 5'8" and can dunk but remember that being able to dunk doesn't make you a good player. Actually, if you're a good dunker but don't know how to shoot or move around the court, you don't even qualify as a decent player and you definitely won't find space in a true basketball team.

About me being mad because I can't dunk: I tell you, dunking is no big deal. I can't dunk, I'm not flashy, I'm not even athletic but I really don't care cause even being 5'11"-180lb, I can still score more than fifteen points, grab seven rebounds per game and shoot over 65% from the field.

Fri Mar 02, 2007 9:10 am

-off one leg you have the ability to jump higher, cause it's a more natural motion but you can't get much hang-time, so the dunks tend to look less spectacular and the complex dunks are a lot harder to make...but in-game it's often better to jump off one leg cause it's a much faster, and like i've said, a much natural motion...
-off two legsgives you the most important ability in order to make a good dunk look better: HANG-TIME it's hard, at first, to get your steps right, to have the power to jump as high as you can off two legs...i always dunk of two and it's a lot simple and spectacular once you've get used to it ! So i've had the ambition to go between the legs off two even if the only guy i've ever seen do that dunk on that court, did it off one and told me to do the same ! It's a lot harder off two dough !

I agree with the hangtime thing, but I think some people are always better with one type of jump then the other. Before I injured my knee, I could jump far, far higher off my left leg than off both legs. During the rehab it was about even, because I lost my jumping ability from not being able to play - but only off that left leg. Now I'm starting to regain strength in my leg and I still can't jump higher off 2 legs, but my 1 leg jumping is increasing pretty nicely.

Look at Jason Richardson. One of the most spectacular dunkers in the league when healthy, primarily a 2 foot jumper. The guy couldn't jump off one foot in the dunk contest a few years back. He probably had an average 1 foot vertical for a basketball player but a huge 2 foot vert. Surely as a proffesional athlete he has worked on jumping of 1 foot as its so important in a fast paced game like basketball. It just seems some people just can't do the other jumping style, and I'm one of them

Fri Mar 02, 2007 9:27 am

From the vid that rims seems like its 8 and a half feet and tilted down...

Fri Mar 02, 2007 9:48 am

IMO Point guards from this era will never reach the level of point guards from the past.

Jason Kidd reached that level. The only thing is that he is simple (why Nash is considered better than him). He can't dunk or anything like that. He only goes behind the back and stuff when that is the easiest way to get the ball to his target. Not to mention he goes after rebounds and that is why he has the most amoug point guards. Also he is a lock down defender that doesn't go for the big steal all day like half the league, but only when he is most likely to succed, not have his man blow past him. I think that is what you think the level of the past is, and Kidd displays that perfectly.

Who said you can't talk about dunking? The way you're responding it's as if people aren't allowed to talk about being sick of these little dunk topics that pop up after every forum rehaul with new posters. Go dig up Spam Harders Slam Dunk videos and jerk off at them if you're that interested in dunks and the ability to dunk and being able to put it between your legs to show it to the great audience of the NLSC.

If you're allowed to discuss dunks, we're allowed to discuss being tired of these sort of threads. Especially by someone who has dificulty writing something that's slightly legible.

The place is tight? What is it a vagina or an asshole? Feel free to pull out at any time, no ones forced you in to the tightness.

I just got some stupid comments from some fustrated and ignit bitchez who sit around all god-damn day on the computer and really don't have no life beyond the virtual one in theyr NBA Live Dynasty who are gelos of people who actually get out the house...

Thank you. That gave me a great laugh. We're the ignorant ones. We're the "bitchez". We're the ones who sit around the PC all day. Ofcourse.

We aren't the ones that tape ourselves dunking then proceed to post it on an internet forum. We aren't the ones that can not spell "bitches" with an S instead of a Z. We aren't the ones that use words like ignit because it sounds so damn cool. We aren't the ones that throw a hissy fit and leave because someone didn't like your topic. We aren't the ones that think anyone who slightly disagrees or has a different view on a certain subject are automatically "haters".

Now go crawl under whatever rock you came out from & resume your "pop a cap in yo ass" lifestyle while we keep on "hatin on yo homie". Bye bye.

I like it here, but people get so hung up on everything. The guy was trying to show what dunks he was capable of and wanted to know what other members could do and/or though of his dunks. Sure he doesn't post with perfect grammar but when you haven't been here long alot of people don't take it so seriously, until they find out how important it is.

Go dig up Spam Harders Slam Dunk videos and jerk off at them if you're that interested in dunks and the ability to dunk and being able to put it between your legs to show it to the great audience of the NLSC.

I wasn't that interested in this thread, I just thought dunking like that at 5"8 was impressive. The thread couldn't do any harm, so why ridicule the creator of it?

What I am trying to say is this place isn't laid back. It seems very common that someone posts, another person will find a fault in it or discourage the thread from continuing when it was a harmless topic. Posting is almost discouraged here. I like it here, but I think everyone needs to take it down a notch. I'm sick of seeing people constantly correcting others spelling mistakes, just nitpicking for no reason and contributing nothing.
