Where are they now?

Postby Jackal on Thu Mar 01, 2007 8:22 pm

Since I have a bit of time on my hands, I figured I'd make a new topic. Aren't I just golly gee damn awesome? Tee hee. Anyways...

Here's a thread asking where a lot of the members of days passed have gone/what they're up to. I'm just curious, some of them are probably banned and cannot post (or in some cases, we'd prefer they not post), but it's still cool to take a look at all the flamboyant characters we've had over the years...so here's the ones I've actually interacted with/remember. Feel free to add your own ones. (I'll be using the memberslist as a base.)

Rens:

Where is he now? What I remember about Rens is that he lives in The Netherlands, he's one of those old school posters who had quite a few witty remarks and seemed to fit in really well with guys from Dotorg. He also used that olive color font which is pretty much how you recognised it was a Rens post. If you're out there, drop by, update us on how/where you are right now.

Clinton:

Where is he now? If I'm not mistaken, Clinton is Andrew's cousin. Probably still is. (Jeez, am I unfunny or what?) Anyways, he was a Lakers fan and used to post in bold black font. He was pretty laid back from what I remember and frequented the NBA Talk and the Lakers related topics. He stopped posting for awhile now, wonder what ever happened to him. Perhaps Andrew could give us some information regarding him.

Tales:

After pretty much going bezerk with his power trip, he pretty much disappeared from the Live community. Well, perhaps that isn't totally correct. Let me rephrase...he pretty much disappeared from the English speaking Live community. He was involved in an up and coming Brazillian based Live site, perhaps he's still active on those boards. Tales was weird, he could be hilarious at times, kind on other occasions and a total dick on some occasions. He also constantly showed anyone and everyone he had on his MSN list pictures of hot Brazillian girls off of Brazillian websites. He said he knew them all, that was doubted by many...but at the end of the day, who really knows? I still don't entirely believe it, but that's just me. I wonder what he's up to now. He also had some health related issues towards the end if I'm not mistaken. I could be dead wrong on the last bit though.

Cocobee:

The man that changed Dynasty/Franchise threads entirely. There were always threads regarding franchise's etc on Live...but the way Cocobee presented it, it was just a treat to visit his threads given it was something quite unseen. It was different, it was new. Pictures are worth a thousand words, that was the first thread I think. He made a few more after that, but I think he got so fed up of how crappy Live became that he went on to make only Madden franchise stories. Pretty much every person that has Dynasty threads these days, I'm pretty sure they have indirectly been inspired by how Cocobee made his dynasties. The whole newspaper thing was unheard of and he came up with a lot more ideas. Where is he now? My guess is as mentioned before, probably still doing Madden Franchises because Live just sucks so bad.

Jamal (Microc):

A Seatlle Supersonics fan, right? Asian too I think. Had pictures of himself in Sonics gear with headband and all. Can't say I remember a lot more about him.

BoyK or Laddas:

Lakers or Kobe fan, one of the two. I recall calling him a lardass in one of our heated word exchanges. I thought that was so frigging hilarious. Now I think I'm a moron. Lardass? Real creative. One of these guys (Kobe fans) was banned for some reason. I don't know if it was Laddas or anyone else (no, not thinking Sit here folks)...but he also seems to have disappeared. If he is banned, probably with good reason, if not...what prompted him to stop posting?

Steve:

Wow. That's all there is to say. The quality of his shoes were simply mad. The guy had some kick ass skills. He (in association with another fellow, don't know who) brought us "The Shoe Store". That was also an uber cool way of presenting the patches he made. He had also designed his site in such a way that it looked like a Nike website or something like that. It was just too cool for words. Now days you don't even bother looking at most of the patchers because they are all full of themselves, don't write decent legible english and just produce patch after patch without that touch of creativity/excellance. Is Steve still around? I haven't seen him for quite awhile, but that could just be because I don't visit the patching section. I felt he needed to be mentioned, so if he is still around, my bad.

Mr. Shane:

Last heard he was writing a book? Or was that Ernest Garrett? One of them was selling a script to Hollywood, or so one of them claimed. One of the things I remember about Shane was that he was pretty cool to converse with on MSN. When I just started out he was one of the first people I spoke to on MSN. I remember him really trying very hard to convince a few of the less believing people that the color Pink was the new "in" color. They kept calling him gay, boy that was a hilarious debate.

Bourbon:

I know he got deleted for disrespecting Andrew in some way. He was a really good poster in my opinion, had good ways to discuss various topics and seemed to be quite a mature guy. He had a Buddha or something like that as his avatar, I recall thoroughly enjoying reading his posts. Wonder what ever happened to him...

Ok, that's enough writing for now, I'm getting bored. I just did two pages so far, maybe if I'm bored some other day and feel like typing, I'll continue from Page 3.

I think Jamal/microck is in our fantasy bball league. (Toni Kukoc?)

I definitely remember Cocobee's franchises (the "dynasty mode" pre-2002)

And Steve's shoes were the best.

Cocobee is over at Sportsgamer doing March Madness 07 dynasties right now.

Totally hit the point, every modern dynasty, has a element of Cocobee.

Is it just me, or has this thread with a question turned into a thread to honour former members?

That was a bit of the point too, a lot of new faces, doesn't hurt to remember some of the older guys from time to time.

So true, Cocobee's dynasty's were the start of something very new and very special. So innovative and realistic, and amazingly captivating and exciting. Hopefully on day he will do another here.

Others that I remember from the list is Steve, who while still around, was/is the best at what he did. I can kinda remember tales as well. Funny guy if I remember correctly (and into his music too?).

Others not on the list I can think of would be the recently departed Jae who still can be found at realgm Bucks forum I believe (though I can't recall seeing him of late), Jowe who is still around but not as often - who had his practioner-esque help topic, and Matthew who, amongst other things, made the first 2k6 association on 360 which convinced me too make the switch from pc to console, and from live to the 2k series.

He's doing good, keeping busy.

I wish Steve-o (Dr Seth Hazzlitt) was still posting. He was great.

And Tales wasn't THAT bad. He used to be a chilled out dude with a funny remark here and there.
