EA to Acquire 2K Sports????

Mon Feb 19, 2007 5:01 am

I've been seeing this on several websites. I pray it's not true, because it would mean the downfall of sports videogaming. Typical EA - instead of improving their product, but out the competition and turn it into sh!t.

2K/Take Two, please DON'T SELL!!!!!!!!!

merged with the other thread.

EDIT: nvm, i don't have powers in the other thread lol

God, please no

I haven't played any of 2K Sports NBA video games, but as what the gameplay videos show, they really kick EA ass.

Whoa, hard times ahead for video game hoopers ahoy. They could maybe maybe make a decent title together, with EA's resources and 2K work ethic but... I don't believe it.

thats retarded....it shows ea is only interested in making cash. buying out everyone else so they can eliminate competition, raise prices, and not worry about how crappy their game is unless no one buys it.

I think NBA Live 08 could be a serious reworking of the series whether or not they merge, given the amount of *ahem* feedback on this version, along with the comparison questions in their survey regarding 2k7.

Tue Feb 20, 2007 8:57 am

well, NBA 2k7 definitely has bugs but it still gives a good overall gameplay if both people don't try to cheat and exploit the game. Still it's miles ahead of Live.

If they employ the gameplay from 2k7 and the player faces (cyberfaces) from Live then it would make an awesome game, the only problem is EA cause more bugs instead of fixing them.

Hopefully not, EA makes shitty games, maybe besides Madden, 2k has really good gameplay, and not as many bugs as EASPorts put in.

Let's be clear that this isn't even A RUMOR. It's "analysis" from Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities, who said that Take Two's stock was low and their finanical situation (being kept afloat by GTA) made it a perfect time for EA to try and buy it. He didn't have "sources" or anything, he was just pontificating (gleefully) on the idea of EA buying out their only real competitor in the sports business.

Too much of all this useless market analysis is being blogged and forumed into rumors anymore.

It's like if Kobe Bryant had a couple bad games, Stephen A. Smith says the Knicks should trade Quentin Richardson for him, then the blogs and forums whip it into "Quentin Richardson for KOBE????" thinking it's something really being discussed.

If it did happen..it might not be so bad. I doubt EA would fire the development team who produces an superior product just for the fuck of it.

This should be merged with the other thread.

If EA want to do something about Live why not use their money usefully instead of wasting it each year adding shitty features to Live. Also buying competition seems to be the easy way out for EA these days. Doesn't surprise me whatsoever.

  that sucks.

As Ben pointed out, it's purely one person's speculation at this point.
