I finally got to this show. Completed the first two seasons.
Best. Drama. Ever.
Favorite characters: Omar, Freamon, Proposition Joe
Gotta love Bunk, Bubbles, Sgt. Landsman and Stringer Bell too.
I think this series is a true masterwork.
Heh. Never had HBO and currently my favorite drama and comedy series (Curb Your Enthusiasm) both come from HBO.
Anyone else partake?

I just finished watching Season 3 yesterday.
Season three is by far the best season so far. I liked one more than two, but three kicks their ass totally.
I love Stringer, he's too cool for words. Laid back, smart and very very calm except when need be.
Dee's a bit of a pussy, plus his face just annoyed me. I won't say anything about him for people that might want to watch the show. Bushy top is also cool, he's the definition of an asshole.
I hope you enjoy season 3 as much as I did, this is currently my third favorite show behind The Shield & The Sopranos. The Sopranos also being from HBO.

do they beep out the swearing on BET?

Onto the fourth season now, and halfway through it deserves all it's hype so far. Season three was amazing, and this one is just topping it. It's different, as season three was originally the series finale. But it's fun to explore new characters and enviroments.
Regarding the show on BET, and if Jackal is still around (hell, if i know?) I know he'll enjoy it. Yeah, they cut the swearing but it's not a huge deal if you can't see the show elsewhere. However. Apparently for the second season they're cutting out half the docks stuff. Cut the entire story about the church window, and will be cutting out a lot of The Greek. Because they don't think their black viewers will care about the white people.
And that girl with the cornrows who works for Marlo, the one who buys a staple gun in the first part of season four. She actually killed someone in real life...making her even scarier...

I'm seriously considering buying all the seasons thus far, but they don't show it here so I will have to wait till season 4 comes out on DVD. I have never had a show that I always watch, in fact I never really watch TV, but I watched one episode of it and I was really impressed. I searched on youtube for a couple more and watched more of it, now I wanna see the full story.
Will those parts of the second season be cut out if its on DVD? Will the season 4 DVD have swearing cut out?
I just think cutting swearing would suck, that "fuck, fuck, fuck, oh fuck, motherfucker, fuck, oh fuck," etc. scene with the bullet hole in the fridge cracked me up. Sorry if it sounds so vague but I don't know the guys names

I don't watch the show on BET so cutting out the church scenes wouldn't have effected me.
I've seen season 3 already, own it as well. I don't understand how they could cut out dock scenes from 2 though. Didn't it take away from the case at hand? (Not Barksdale in season 2.)
Anyways, season 3 has been my favorite so far. I liked one, but that's like introduction. The second one I expected to see Barksdale follow up, but they were smart, moved away for awhile and did the docks case. Three went back to Barksdale so I liked it a lot.
Patiently waiting for Season 04 to hit DVD's. It'll probably be a couple of months.

The DVD's are completely uncut, I have all three of 'em. Season four should be out around the time season five hits HBO based on how the last two have released.
I didn't think you watched it on BET as it started on there after we had this thread the first time. I was just thinking you'd find it funny they're cutting out the main story of the second season. They're cutting around it so it looks like the docks is the secondary story instead of the primary one. There's one episode late in the season where I don't even think the Barksdale's show up, so the cynic in me says they won't even air it.
Season four is no longer on the Barksdale's either, it's onto Marlo, and focuses a lot on a middle school. But it's somehow better than season three, everything involving the school kids is perfectly done and the unfolding of the Marlo case is handled well.
The Bunk-McNulty fridge/"fuck" scene is a classic and anyone who's seen know what you were trying to describe.

I have never seen this show before but I have heard a TON of good things about it. I decided today I'd go and give it a shot. I just bought Season 1 DVD at Circuit City and plan to start watching the series tonight. If I enjoy the first season I'll go and pick up the second one when I'm done.
I'm a cop lover so will I not like this show?

Season 3 just released over here though. In February I think. All DVD's get released later to give us the "Dutch Subtitles". So yeah, it'll be awhile before I get season 4.
I'm seriously contemplating downloading them though, the way you're describing it to be better than 3. I figured it would move on to Marlo, Barksdale is pretty much done and over with.
I don't see the point of airing the show on BET. If they're going to make such changes to the show, just show another show and save yourself the time & effort.

I am now four episodes in on the first season (they are just about to clone some pagers to track "D"). I have to say this is a damn good show! I still have a long ways to go in this first season but I can already tell you I'll pick up the second season as soon as I'm done with this first one. I'll probably watch one or two more episodes today.
My favorite characters are Herc and Carver. Those are some real cops! Bunk and Stringer are pretty cool, too. But Herc and Carver are my dudes!
Great show.
