I think they said that
this year the reigning champs will defend their titles in the All-Star Saturday competitions.
Qballer wrote:i think they didn't have that rule in 2004.
They did, the 'rule' was implemented in 2004 when they named it the Sprite Rising Stars Dunk Contest. And I don't see how Dwight Howard is a "lock" for the Dunk Contest, he's one of the future stars anyway.
I'd like to see Gerald Green, James White, Trevor Ariza and Nate Robinson square off.

Iguodala said he wont be doing the dunk contest again, (yes, because the judges are fucking useless) which will probably leave Nate, Green, Howard and someone else...
Kobe, Lebron and Nash will all get called for fouls on Wade during the skills challenge and be ejected (man I cant believe no one said that yet...)
And Korver will win the 3-point contest

It would be nice to see Shannon Brown in the dunk contest. James White, Gerald Green, Nate Robinson, (i dont like him, but he is going) and Shannon Brown would be sweet

Noel from Milwaukee? I'd also be interested to see what kind of comp dunks Hassan Adams could put up.

Can I post this here?
Rookie Challenge Lineups Announced
I think the Rookies are gonna get killed...
Thu Feb 01, 2007 5:44 am
i think their chances arent THAT bad though. usually every year, the rooks seem like theyre gonna get killed. but for some reason i think this year, their chances are a little better
Thu Feb 01, 2007 5:48 am
i dont think they are gonna get killed...yeah sophmore have players like Chris Paul,Danny Granger but look Brandon Roy,Randy Foye,Rudy Gay... i think its gonna be very very good and interesting match
Thu Feb 01, 2007 5:51 am
WTF Where are Alridge in Rooks and Marve in Sophos?
Thu Feb 01, 2007 6:01 am
oops sorry i was reading other topic
can someone delete my post sorry again a lot
Thu Feb 01, 2007 6:28 am
I was thinking the same thing. It could be close, but looking at the talent for both the rookies and the sophomores, jeez, the sophomores are very strong.
Thu Feb 01, 2007 7:19 am
Nice to see 4 new players on the sophomore team compared to last year's rookie team. Can't believe Jasikevicius was on there.
I don't mind Nate and Frye not making it, I'd rather see Lee anyway.
Thu Feb 01, 2007 7:26 am
Haha I find it funny that all of those guys are around 21 then Garbajosa is like 30 years old. And Paul Millsap is kind of a random. But David Lee is having a pretty nasty season, big ups to him.

Millsap is good dude. Why shouldnt he be in it?
Dunk contest sucks now, 4 contestants, unlimited tries. It is getting more boring each year.

If Mike Miller doesn't get to participate in the 3-point shootout this year, I'm going to be pissed off. Day in and day out, he shows that he was one of the best 3-point shooters in the league, yet he doesn't participate ini the contest. I think I can guarentee that he will win the contest if he participates.

I think it's impossible to guarantee the winner. It's all about who isn't the one having an off night, and most of them do. If they held the competition after every player had just had a practice or scrimmage game, I think they'd shoot better.

It seems they'll make exceptions every now and then when they need to make up the numbers or a veteran shows interest, which is good. Now they just need to bar Kenny Smith from ever being a judge again.

Smith cost Iggy the championship last season

Sports 56 reported that the 3-point shootout contestants are:
Mike Miller
Gilbert Arenas
Damon Jones
Dirk Nowitzki.
Raja Bell and someone else.
As long as Mike and Gilbert are in it

Garbajosa for Rookie-Sophomore game MVP

, that would be a nightmare for David Stern.

Quentin won't participate in the 3-point contest? Hope J.R. Smith makes it.
Rooks still have a good chance this year. I see Ellis winning the MVP.

My money is on Mike Miller. Unless Okur is in it, then I would have to go for the money man.

I'd have put Kapono in it, or maybe JR

I thought it was awesome when I saw the highlights. When I saw the actual game that I recorded on my PVR, it was a shitfest. It was horrible.
his performance just highlighted what is wrong with the dunk contest and why i myself dont even care about it. how many times has someone won when they clearly should not have? better players losing cause of popularity? only good thing about last years contest is now i dont think of dominique when i think of the person who got screwed the most in the dunk contest.

It was a disgusting display. I mean, as soon as he realised lowering his score would result in the first ever tiebreaker in the final round of a dunk contest, he quickly changed it and excitedly declared the tie. It was wrong, plain and simple, and not the first time his judging has marred a dunk contest either.
