Just save up the cash... then by the time you have the money, the x360 will probably be cheaper or at least the games you currently want will be cheaper, plus you wont be paying interest.
Thu Jan 11, 2007 9:26 am
man you really dont listen to me do ya haha
walmart and bestbuy both have payment plans.
Thu Jan 11, 2007 9:28 am
I do listen, but payment plans usually include interest.
Therefore, unless if theres games you really want right now, it would be smarter to save the money up as you wouldnt be paying interest and also by the time you have the money saved up, the price of the console will probably drop.
Thu Jan 11, 2007 10:38 am
Yeah i saved up all the money took me like a month or 2 plus when you get it you actually own it and you've payed for it all and dont owe anything, its a good feeling.
I'm going to buy Lost Planet today and if its not any good ill just return it within the week as EB give you that trial period thing.

For you, I forget.

I mean, I got spared the trouble of paying for the desktop, my dad generously did that for me. Though I don't think thats an excuse for me to go and drop 450 or so for a 360 plus 2k7.
When I get back into town I'll see what the deal is. I do agree with Matthew, the price has to drop, not now, but within the next half year or so. But I can't wait too long.

I haven't really thought about the interest stuff.

The bundle I got for X-mas came with 2K7 for normal price. Nowadays, the $400 bundle usually comes with a game or two. Plus, there is always the core package. The price might not drop until the holiday season though, if you can wait that long.
It is a great system, but built horrible.More often than not it is going to die on you in the first year. Good thing for the extended warranty.
I should have Xbox Live within the next week. I'm up for a game of NBA 2K7, though I do suck at it. (Just switched to All-Star difficulty, am 2-1 since then)

I'm still yet to get 2K7, but I got my Xbox Live hooked up. My gamertag is

Sorry to dig back to the first page and all, but i thought i remembered The X talking about this, and i think im having the same problem, so if you can offer a hand The X, please!!..
My brand new 2k7 game which i got 2 days after Christmas after about 2 hours total of my playing the game (not straight, but coming back to it -turning it off inbetween of course) it came up with a "Disc cannot be read message". Not only did this shit me because it was my first association on the 360 and i was yet to save it, but i'd only had the box for 2 days. So anyways, i took out the game, gave it a clean with a wet cloth as the pop up suggested, no dice. Upon closer inspection, i noticed that there was a scratch-ring around the edge of the disc, i then asked the mother to pick me up one of those scratch repair kits from Sanity (it was the last copy at EB, so even though i had the game guarentee, i knew id have to wait a few days, and i cant do that.. fucking addicting 2k7), and that seemed to solve the disc not able to read problem.. then its been doing it every now and then, the game will play, but the commentary will be extremely delayed (eg. talking about a foul that happened 2 min ago, with extended periods of silence in between), before the same message comes up - "disc cant be read". These recent ones i had resolved by just turning the 360 off and on again.. But this afternoon, it did it again, now i can play 30 seconds into a game before the dreaded message pops up.. It hasnt happened with any other games, but ive hardley played anything other than 2k7. Nows probably a good time to mention that i also borrowed my mates copy the day before i got mine, and the same message popped up, but we thought it might have been because i had it standing up, instead of lying down..
Now i have got the extended 3 year (i think, might be 2, but its extended nonetheless) warranty on my 360, so i can swap it, but i was just going to ask a bit more about your 'scratchbox 360' X. So if you dont mind, a few questions..
1. Did you also get these messages, and the disc was scratched despite it not being bumped once with a game in the tray?
2. Where did you buy your Xbox 360?
3. What questions were asked when you told them it was scratching the disc?
4. Did you have any problem obtaining a new one, or did they just send yours for repair?
5. How long did it take for your new one?
Sorry for all the questions man, but i just wanna get to the bottom of this, so i can continue my otherwise excellent 360 experience.

I had similar problems with 2k6, and it has happened once with 2k7. I found that if the 360 is ventilated well it rarely occurs. I've added 8mm feet to the base of my 360 to allow it more room to breath i.e. get extra airflow underneath. That seemed to solve the problem 95% of the time. Furthermore, make sure your power unit isn't sitting on carpet and has a bit of space so it doesn't overheat. Hopefully that fixes or at least helps. So far no scratches on my disc, but I have had the dreaded commentary freeze which leas to the inevitable 'disc cannot be read message'.
I would definately invest in 4x8mm feet for the base (standing either veritcal or horizontal - have heard vertical is actually better for heat flow but mine is horizontal) to prevent any overheating in the future, and most likely prevent the 3 red lights of death.

1.Yes... sometimes i cleaned the disc and it worked..Others i had to return the disc. But once the disc drive stopped working completelly so i had to return the console.
2.In a store nearby.. doesnt really matter to you
3.How long had it been since i bough the game/console
4.No, i send to repair but they couldn´t, so i got a new one
5.Between 1 and 2 weeks

1. Yes, game was never bumped in tray. I handle all my disc with great care. It was the machine that scratch it up. You got a dodgy DVD player in there I think. Funny thing is that it only happened to 2k6. The other game I put in didn't get any scratches. I think 2k/Take 2 or whatever they are called must make vulnerable discs.
2. I got it from EB.
3. I just took the game back in which I bought off them about 2 days before & said, look what the 360 has done. But my console completely scratched up the game. But it started with a ring as you mention.
4. I got given a new one straight away. Because I bought from EB, they have their own 1 month warranties even if you don't have an extended one (which you do & I do too). Gave old one, they took it away & probably sent to Microsoft. Who knows, you might've ended up with my dodgy one, although unlikely.
5. 30 seconds, the time it took them to grab a new one.
Good luck, I haven't had any problems since. Just go & change it immediately, ask for a new console, not a fix of your current one. That's what I did, you spent big $$$'s, you should expect it. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks to all you guys.. The reason i asked where you got it from X, is that i was hoping you got it from Harvey Norman like i did, so i know they would give me one, but hopefully they still will.. Im just concerned they will put a game in to try and prove it, but it wont scratch..
Felix, why the "doesnt really matter to you comment?"
First of all, i was asking The X, second, see above as to why it matters to me, and third, what do you think im going to come to brazil, find the store and steal customer info or something? I probably took what you said in the wrong context, and if i did, ignore this haha.

Don´t take it the wrong way... its just that´s the only store in the world with that name... so you probably wouldn't come all the way over here just to buy it at the store... what i meant is that it shouldn't make a difference for you the name of the store. It´s PiraGames by the way.
Fri Jan 19, 2007 12:46 pm
Yeah, the reason i was asking was cos i wanted to know if he got it at the same store i did, because if he did, it would reassure me that i wouldnt have a problem getting a new one..
Thanks for your help!
Fri Jan 19, 2007 2:15 pm
I don't think they will test the console in front of you, but if they did, you'd want them to put 2k game in, and not a different one....but either way, you should be fine as you've got a warranty over it
Wed Jan 24, 2007 5:07 pm
Can anyone tell me if now is a good time to buy a 360, i've waited long enough!
Wed Jan 24, 2007 10:32 pm
If you think its worth that price then i would get it and i think it is i dont have any complaints with mine as of yet.
Fri Jan 26, 2007 12:00 am
yeah well i can just afford it it think, i think i might go the top shelf package with Xbox 360 Live and everything, 2k7 and TopSpin 2, hopefully Fifa 07 if i can afford it. I've never had Xbox Live before so i'm not to sure... Maybe i'll wait on that, i'll be broke anyway.

Dont suppose anyone knows if NHL 2k7 is out on 360 yet in australia?
NHL 2007 i think might be a bit too arcadey.. Im getting back in to ice hockey lately, so i wanna play some realistic, NHL, set up offences style, and i havent really been able to do that on 07. That and i cant stop teams from scoring stupid goals.. Pittsburgh scored 4 in the opening two min against me! I got angry, now i want 2k! Haha.
Fri Feb 09, 2007 8:07 am
NHL 2k7 has been out in Australia since 2 weeks before NBA2k7 came out. Although there aren't a huge amount of copies around. It's definitely a better game than NHL 07 from what I've heard (I've only played EA's pile of crap, but hear 2k7 is more realistic even if there are some annoying bugs in the game)
Fri Feb 09, 2007 2:45 pm
Well damn, i went to Eb, Target and K-Mart today and it wasnt at either, so the search continues

.
I thought i saw it, but i couldnt remember whether it was 2k6 or not..
