I'd say the 2006 draft was deeper, not necessarily because the top players in it were better but because the talent level in the 2nd round and even amongst the undrafted players was still very high.
Regardless of what happens in the 2007 draft, analysts are already saying it's one of the strongest drafts in recent years. Conversely, others are already saying that the 2006 draft was one of the weakest. Nobody in the top 10 are putting up monster numbers, although they do show promise.

I definately wouldnt mind getting AI in here especially for a big contract of nene, but its a concern that melo and ai might not work out on the court, both want the ball, hopefully GK will work something out, otherwise it mite end up as NYK.

That was a bogus rumor.

Ofcorse not,but still 2 Superstars are better than 3,especially when they are Wade Shaq and Iverson. I mean,Iverson would just take the ball and score,Wade will do the same, but assisting aswell, and shaq will just be dominant as always

J-Will? why not trade payton? he's only got one or two years left in him anyway. I think the Heat are in serious fucking trouble with the age of their team...they have many aged all stars/future hall of famers (wade and j-wil exceptionsl) and i dont see more than 3 or 4 more years IF THAT in Zo, Shaq, Walker, or Payton. If they make a trade for Iverson, i have a feeling Payton would go before J-Will. But we shall see. I'm sick of waiting but i guess the NBA cant help that no one can make a trade work.
Does anyone know the conditions of the nixed charlotte trade? that interested me; to see the value of iverson in Charlottes eyes. They seem to be a smart team in management (well right now the Morrison pick sucked but give him time) and i wanted to see what they offered up for AI
Jason Williams would have to go. Payton is signed to the veterans minimum, so his salary isn't enough to match. I don't mind seeing J-will leave either; he's injured every other game and isn't consistent.

True. . .It did seem bogus when I read it, but it was on ESPN somewhere, so I thought it could be legit

Lol @ this thread, 80% of it is "Iverson is DEFINITELY going to Indiana" "No wait, Iverson is NOT going to Indiana" "Wait wait, the deal is BACK on" "No hang on, Indiana are OFFICIALLY out".
Anyways it's looking like Denver, I lost all the excitement about this days ago.

Same here, on both accounts (this thread being silly and losing excitement about the trade).
I hope it's not Denver, but at this point I just want it over with. I'm addicted to following big trade rumors so this one is getting stupid.
Sat Dec 16, 2006 9:38 am
The two Denver picks wont be high as i think we have ours which will be 20 something and we have the Dallas Mavericks pick so thats not real high either, so basically those pics cant help us as much as AI can.
The Trade isnt going to include the picks i dont think anyway.
It was Nene to Portland Magloire and Joe Smith to Sixers and Allen Iverson to Denver, The sixers will get two players who will come off the books next year and once they get rid of Webber they will have like 40 million in cap room to go crazy and rebuild this team.

Source: Iverson To Denver Deal Close
15th December, 2006 - 11:31 am
Fox Colorado -
NBA league sources say that the Denver Nuggets are close to a deal that would land Allen Iverson. A deal could be finalized on Friday.
A source familiar with negotiations says it would be a complicated trade involving at least three teams and at least five players. In addition, the Nuggets would likely have to give up both of their first round draft picks in the next draft
Sat Dec 16, 2006 10:03 am
I just checked the Denver Post and it said a trade would involve Najera, Joe Smith and 2 draft picks plus either Austin Croshere or Jamal Magloire. Not sure where each player would go but Denver would get Iverson.
Also looks like Chicago are pursuing Nene in a separate deal after originally offering for Camby they were denied and are now going after Nene.
Nuggets are trying to get the deal gone quickly before more interest rises again and the Sixers decide to do another trade. Looks like im gonna be buying my long awaited Iverson jersey
Sat Dec 16, 2006 10:19 am
As a Carmelo fan, I'm sorta like an automatic Nuggets fan. I really didn't want to see AI in Denver because I thought it would involve one of the good bigs and JR Smith, but I now see this deal (if it goes through) is a very good one. Just hope GK and Iverson don't clash or this team could fall apart.
Sat Dec 16, 2006 10:28 am
JR Smith, Camby and Melo are untouchable and the Sixers know that so you dont have to worry about those guys bailing. I'd rather keep Iverson over GK, GK's man love for Boykins will hopefully die and he can see that he doesnt need to play him 30 minutes a game and with Najera gone Nene or Evans can start which ive hoped for, for a while now.
Sat Dec 16, 2006 11:20 am
Hmmm....reports a couple days ago said there was no way the Red Sox would get Matsuzaka...and we've got him.
Reports keep saying that the Celtics have a very slim shot at Iverson...hmmm....
I want them to ship Wally to Philly and somehow keep Green and Jefferson. Maybe send Ratliff or *muffled laughing* Scalabrine over there too.
Sat Dec 16, 2006 12:15 pm
Scalabrine is Pierce's wing man....why would you want to deal him
Sat Dec 16, 2006 12:17 pm
I don't want Nene in Blazerland.
Edit: or Najera.
Hopefully they use dallas and Croshere.

U know it's Bullshit when Croshere plays for the Mavericks
Sat Dec 16, 2006 1:00 pm
The Mavericks are interested in being a 3rd party.... he hasnt done anything productive there i guess and they wanna move him out but i dont know because im not a mavericks fan...
o satisfy the 76ers' desire for as many expiring contracts as possible, league sources said Denver has held trade talks with Dallas regarding forward Austin Croshere ($7.3 million salary) and Portland for Jamaal Magloire ($8.4 million), both role players in the final year of what would be considered bad contracts except in this situation.

My god...the thought of the two most explosive offensive players in the game, Carmelo and AI, on the same team? It scares the living shit out of me. The Nuggets are already a top 6 team...ugh, pleaaaaase let AI be traded to an EC team!

Thats what Philly isnt trying to do, they dont do themselves any favors as AI will help that team a lot, espceially if its Boston which is in their division. They're mostly looking at either Minny or Denver now, WC teams.
Sat Dec 16, 2006 3:39 pm
I think Iverson and KG would work out the best. Since both players have desperately wanted a superstar to help them for so long, I don't think either player would mind sharing the ball. Plus KG is so unselfish, he wouldn't have much problem with passing off to AI.
Sat Dec 16, 2006 4:14 pm
Why in the world would Chicago want Nene...Wallace just grabbed 27 rebounds at the C position, they're not exactly hurting for a defensive big man. Sounds like a dubious rumor since they shipped Chandler out, who wasn't that different than Nene and doesn't have a torn ACL.
Whether Denver or Minny, i doubt shots will be a problem. AI has shown a willingness to share the ball when he has options around him, such as the US teams. He also gave the ball up to Webber more than most superstars in this league would to an old man with a set shot.
Sat Dec 16, 2006 5:07 pm
Today is Friday yea? So a deal should be finalized like now? or hopefully tomorow?

That's how the rumor mill works.
It's a funny process.

Now supposedly my Raptors are in the run for A.I. or wanna be part of the multi-team trade.
Raptors Trying To Facilitate Multi-Team Iverson Deal
Toronto Star -
Since the Raptors have about $2 million in cap space, the club has been trying to involve themselves in the Allen Iverson trade talks.
Toronto is looking for a proven scorer in a multi-team trade.
According to sources, Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo has contacted a handful of teams offering his cap space.

Well yeah, only like 5 other teams were involved in that rumour mill but the only one we really heard from was Indiana

I wish they were playing him, he's killing my fantasy league team
