Not my type of art, but maybe it's yours...

Some weird stuff goin' on here...

Tue Dec 05, 2006 1:05 pm

That's actually cooler than the shit put out by Duchamp, Jeff Koons, Christos & Jean-Claude, and Pollock.

Tue Dec 05, 2006 1:36 pm

lol I thought some of those were hilarious... reminds me of some of the stuff Claes Oldenberg has done.

My favorite was the walker locked to the pole with a bike lock.

I don't really understand what these are all about, but...

They are ok I suppose...

I'm going to be waiting for a Simpsons reference by Andrew if he comes across this thread. This reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer becomes an artist after he completely destroys his BBQ set.

Some are just stupid, but I liked the locked wakler one, and for some reason the parking things that looked like a lolly pop

I'd have to say not my type of art for the most part; the sculptures are cool though. Call me old fashioned or uneducated but it seems to me if a walker locked to a pole with a bike lock can be art, then anything random thrown together - Conan's Cactus Chef playing "We didn't start the fire" on a flute, anyone? - can qualify as art.

I'd hate to disappoint, so here goes...

"Oh, honey, I've always liked your art. Your paintings look like the things they look like."

I don't really care about the ones that are just ice-people sitting on the street, but the other ones are really funny

Wed Dec 06, 2006 11:45 am

I actually like some of these. Some are just plain weird.

It's not interesting, mildly amusing to an extent. Like the plastic ducks on the puddle, that shitting plastic dog, or that plastic tiny person pulling a post down.

Stop hating on Pollock, cyanide, or you'll get a canvass up the wazoo.

What do you like about Pollock? I've learned about him in art history, and I'm still not convinced. I got to admit, it looks way better in real life when I saw it at MoMa at New York, but still, I'm still skeptical about his works.

I'm not an art fan that's into the minute details, I just like his works. I used to have this book that has pics of his paintings. I like how everything seems to blend together even if it looks "messy". I can stare at it for an hour or so, and that's just a picture in a book.
Personal preference, I guess.

Fortunate bastard.

I guess I can understand how his works can captivate a viewer, but it's the process that I'm unconvinced. He claims to get lost in his work (perhaps so) but the idea of spraying paint of specific colors across the canvas using intuition and dance doesn't justify one of the greatest artists of all time, imo.

I dunno, I'm not the biggest fan of Pollock's either. My 5 year old cousin could do something strikingly similar to his work.

Same here. I don't get his methods.
I do like his work, but I'm not crazy over it as to worship him as one of the greatest, considering how he makes those.

He's also one ugly beotch.

i loved the guy with his head through the wall  thatd be fucking trippy
