New York's Basketball Saviors

The Begining of it all...

I was Floyd Turbo, the Assistant Head Coach of the New York Knicks. It was one of the worst jobs that I could’ve ever taken. I have wanted to run a team, but I have been limited to my power in the franchise. I love working with the players and helping them develop into Superstars, but what the francise was doing was ruining the team. I decided to start my own team. And I had the chance. This is my story...

A while ago, I arranged a dinner meeting with David Stern, the Commissioner of the NBA, to try and tell him my idea about my own team. It wasn't going to be easy. He is the Commissioner of the NBA, and asking him for permission to do something like that would be a huge stretch.

My plan was to get rid of the New York Knicks and make them into a new team changing their name to the New York Knights. I was going to hire everyone from scratch and fill the organization with my people and run the team the way I wanted to run it. I was scared, but I decided to to him...

“So, how have things been lately, David?”
“Great, Floyd. I have had a little bit of stress on my shoulders lately because of all the trades some teams want to pust through right now.ely.
“Yeah, I hear what you sayin'".”
“No, not really”
“Yea, because I have never been a head commissioner.”

It was going great! I got him in a nice mood so hopefully it would be easy to convince him. I started in...

“David, well, I have been thinking, and I was wondering your opinion if another team would be able to join the NBA to take the place of a team?"
“Oh boy.”

Stern quickly commented before I started conversing again.

“Well, I want to open up a new team.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me, Floyd?”

Stern said. He had a serious look on his face.

“No! I was thinking of replacing the New York Knicks because they have had absolutly no publicity by the media except when they set the NBA record for most loses in a season. Overall, they are losing money and nobody is going to the contests.”
“Yes, I know what you are saying, but I’m not sure if you know what you’re saying. Floyd. This could ruin the credibility of the NBA. People are going to doubt the NBA. We just created a new franchise two years ago; the Charlotte Bobcats.”
“Yeah, and they were a great addition! David, you have to at least consider this idea!”
“Floyd, you know that I have supported you all throughout your entire career when no one else would, but when you bring up something like this, it makes me think you are crazy! Besides, even if this did happen, where would you get all of the players let alone the personal to run the club?”
“Everywhere I can think of. Anywhere from the collegeic level to the streets of New York and various other places. I guarantee that there is some top class talent out there that has just been undiscovered. David, its only June and we have plenty of time to get this organized. All you have to do is give me some time to let this progress.”
“And what about your personel?”
“Well, how did all the other teams get their personnel? I’ll just host a range of conferences and I will chose the people who are right for the job.”
“You actually think that you can create a new club, hire a whole new staff, and sign new players in less than a few months?”
“Just watch me, my friend”
“Well, where are you going to get all of the money?”
“David, trust me. Even thought the Knicks organization seems crappy, they paymealto of money to work for them. I am sure that I can afford this.”
“How much money do you have?”
“Seven hundred million.”
“Where did you get all that from?”
“My job and the fact that I won three lotteries. Also, my grandfather left me two hundred million after he passed away. Remember, he was the old owner of the Los Angeles Lakers. People say that I am one of the luckiest people in the world. Winning three lotteries is when you know that I am just lucky.”
“Floyd, I have to give you credit for planing this all out, but there is no way possible that I can make this decision right on the spot. Let me think about it and I will call you back tomorrow and tell you what I think. Until then, just relax and try to be yourself.”
“Thanks, David. I really hope that you say yes to this!”
“We will see, Floyd, we will see.”

I went home that night in a great mood. I already had a great feeling that David Stern was going to allow me to make this new franchise. This would be great for the NBA. The publicity will highly increase and everyone will want to see this great, new franchise in action. I decided to get down to business. I thought about renaming the stadium to Knights Arena, but that sounded retarted so I moved on to the next thing. I thought about adding on and adding a new line of offices in the building for the general manager, team owner, and head coach and many other jobs. I called up my friend James Gall about the idea. The phone rang three times before he answered.

“Hey, Floyd, what’s up?”
“Hey nothing. Big news, I asked David Stern about that idea about the new team. He said he is going to think about it. By the way he sounded, though, I am almost one hundred percent sure that he will allow this.”
“Dude, really? This is awesome! So, have you thought of any ideas yet on anything?”
“No, not yet, but that’s why I called you. I need you to start working on some ideas. Can you make a list of some elite players and coaches for a position with the team."
"I will get right on it!"
“Okay, I really hope this works out! I’ll get to work immediately. Bye.”

I hung up. I was so excited and I just couldn’t wait for David Stern’s call about the team. I had so many ideas, but so little time. I grabbed a pencil and paper and then I started writing down my ideas.

After compiling a lengthy list, I realized that none of the staff positions were filled except for mine. I would have to make a public announcement about the team and try and get people with some sports management experience. I was encountering a major problem though, I only had listed about half of the jobs that I really needed to run the organization. I decided that I would just look over it because if I get together a very good staff, some of us could kind of cross over and do another job as well. All I really cared about was getting a great staff and a great team.

I figured that I had enough of all this and then I began to think about how I would tell Isiah Thomas that his team is going under and will be removed from the NBA. I had a feeling that he knew that something was going to happen to his team. The reason for this is that they have nobody interesting to watch. All they have is "Starbury" and he is already fading without playing up to his full potential. The other player that is a pretty good player is the three-point star, Quientin Richardson. The thing is, nobody cares to see this team play. Period.

The Knicks always end their seasons with a horrible record and never make the playoffs. The staff is also a main reason why that team isn’t that talented. If they had some good coaches and trainers, then their team could be possibly one of the elite teams in the NBA. They have some great talent on their team, but they just don’t know how to manage the skills. I decided that I would just tell Isiah Thomas about the team being removed just by explaining the simple facts. I knew just about everything about how to get this team going from square one. All I needed to do first was to get David Stern’s approval. I decided that I would go to bed a bit early than usual to try and help to not think about it.
I was grinning from ear to ear as I lay on my bed. I had a feeling that David Stern would let this pass. This has been my dream ever since I was young. One day, I was going to make a powerhouse basketball team. My dad always laughed at my foolishness, but I guarantee that he never thought I to get this far.

Creating a new franchise would surely get the media’s attention. If I could create this franchise, I knew that I would take this team to glory. I knew that I would lead this team to the championship. This team would just have magic. They would finally get on the road to the championship.

The Road to Glory.

All the way in Boston, David Stern had a clueless look on his face as he grabbed some writing materials just before going to bed.
He began to write a message.

"Call Floyd Turbo. It is a yes for his new team."

Dude no offence but really put your own effort into it. A.King spent a great amount of time to create his dynasty and you should do so too. Try to be orgiginal rather than stealing someone's ideas.

KNIGHTS SIGN GREAT TALENT QUICK

Today, I called one of the most dominant centers that I know of in college basketball. Even though he went Undrafted in this year's draft, I knew he was an All-Star. It was Zach Stultz from Western Michigan. I had gotten the cahce to watch him play in a few MAC games and he looked amazing. He is one of the tallest players in all of basketball standing at 7 feet 4 inches. He seems like a beast that couldreally do some damage against some big name teams in the NBA. We both were able to come to an agreement over a contract and he will be playing for us this year.

I also spoke with one of Stultz's High School friend, Justin Thompson from Texas who has the most amazing touch from 3-point territory. He is like the white Reggie Miller, but better. He also went undrafted. I cannot believe both of these talents went undrafted. It boggles my mind that they did not get drafted, but I see something in them that I don't see in very many NBA players, and that is leadership.

I had a few more people in mind, but I was still waiting for that call from David Stern about my team. All I could do was wait for the one call that could change my life.

I feel really weird not deleting this seeing as you stole his stuff once, then made this new thread saying 'in my own words'... and you still stole it.

You should definitely go out on a crazy limb and try doing Dynasty reports without using the Copy/Paste function. Why would anybody want to read something when 5 lines in they think to themselves, "Hey, didn't I just read this?" Even if you paraphrased some parts -- the entire story is identical. (N)

For me personally this would be kinda insulting. Although I do not take this whole NLSC too serious, we are all here with the same hobby, so there is no reason for taking it too serious, I think it is not right to copy things from other dynasties. It is a lot of fun and effort for some people to write those dynasty things ... so you should respect that by not pasting there things ...

Considering A.King stopped the dynasty the started like this I say he goes on with this one, he's not gonna do the same thing, just the same concept, and A.King gave himpermisson.

You got some nerve, going against a mod with only 10 posts.

Anyway, I'm following. Good luck.

1. Why do people want to be in this dynasty?

2. Why lock the first thread of plagiarism and not this one?

3. I think plagiarism would be a good thing to address in the Rules For Posters.

New York Knights - The quest for glory continues...

The Call...

I woke up and turned my head toward the clock. It said 11:00 A.M. I jumped out of bed and ran into the kitchen where I had placed my cell phone on the charger for the night. I looked at the screen and it said I had one new message. As I glanced at the number it read 'David Stern'. A cold chill ran down my back as I began to listen to the message...

“Hey, Floyd. This is David Stern and I wanted to let you know about the decison for the new team. I will allow you to create this new franchise. But, you have to have everything ready to go when the first day of the season comes around. I mean all staff mebers, roster, jerseys and parrolls. There is a downside to all this , and there will be many more to come. I already informed Isiah Thomas about this and trust me, he is not at all happy about this. I talked with him on the phone earlier and he had a hissy fit over it. So, you might want to watch out for him. Also, to make things a little harder for you, the entire New York Knicks line-up will no be able to sign any contract with your team. The media will be all over trying to get a word form you, so just consider this a fair warning. Good luck. I really hope you can make this whole thing work for you! Cya Around.”

By the end of the message, I was jumping up and down in my kitchen. I was very excited because my dream of owning an NBA team had finally come true. I began think about who I would hire for my staff. I knew a couple of people that were pretty good in coach ing and various things so I called them up and they were all able to take the positions in the oragnization.

Later that day...

“Welcome to Around the Horn! I am your host Tony Reali. The participants today are J.A. Adande, Woody Paige, Michael Smith, and Jay Mariotti. The first category today is NBA's new expansion team, not the Charlotte Bobcats, but the New York Knights. What are your thoughts boys?”
“Well, I strongly agree with Floyd's decision to break away from the usual and create this new franchise. It will attract more fans to the New York games because from what I hear he is giving them a complete overhall. I hear they have already signed half of their roster. I love to see a bunch of young guys out on the floor proving themselves that why they are on that roster. I would also agree with most of the die-hard Knicks fans are saying though. It is pretty overwhelming that all of the sudden their favorite team doesn’t exist anymore after many years of NBA basketball.” Said a persuasive Michael Smith.

As I watched the rest of the show, I got a big smile on my face knowing that the nation was getting a good idea of my new team. After the show was finished, I hit the drawing board trying to think of an idea for a jersey for our team. It helped that I had taken college courses in art, so this would be the easy part. After finishing up my sketches for the jerseys, I was very satisfied. The home uniform had a White base with red sides with blue trim. I love those three colors. The away uniform had a red base with a white stripe with blue trim. The alternate uniform had a silver base with a red sides and once again, blue trim. I was all set with jerseys, but then another thing hit me as quick as the first one left —a court. I get the old Knicks court, but I needed one that I could put my own logos on and make it so it was my court and only my court.
