The Warriors just recently signed Penny Hardaway and chose to keep Anthony Roberson. With Baron Davis and Keith McLeod already on the team the Warriors have four players capable of playing the 1. Accoriding to league insiders McLeod might be traded along with Troy Murphy for a more defensive minded Power Forward.

Warriors sign Ryan Bowen, keep Dajuan Wagner
The Warriors today announced their last decision regarding the recent 2nd Chance Audition.
The team decided to sign Ryan Bowen and to keep Dajuan Wagner.
"This decision was actually pretty easy for our team. Ryan Bowen played very
defensive minded and he really made great hustle plays. I think he will fit in nicely with the other players and I hope he can contribute this way in the future too.

The fans were obviously shocked when they heard of the departure of fan favourites Murphy and Ellis along with rookie prospect Patrick O'Bryant and Keith McLeod. The signing of Penny Hardaway and Anthony Roberson made insiders believe that McLeod would get traded, but this came really unexpected. Here are further Details.
The Warriors sent Troy Murphy along with their first round draft pick Patrick O'Bryant to the Portland Trailblazers for Zack Randolph. A risky trade as Randolph has a big contract and struggled in Portland due to his attitude and injuries. The team hopes to improve the inside scoring and the interior defence. Critics say that Randolph fits in nicely but has to surpass his attitude problems.
In another trade the Warriors sent Keith McLeod along with Monta Ellis to the Philadelphia 76ers for Small Forward Rodney Carney. Their is no obvious reason why the 76ers should have traded future star player Rodney Carnes but when you look a little bit closer you see that the 76ers need success now to convince Allen Iverson to stay. "You simply can't do that with pure potential, we need an impact now" - Mo Cheeks said. Ellis who had a great last season with the Warriors should have an immediate impact as Korver can move up to the SF spot again.

Well I wouldn't have done it if I would have been able to figure out a trade for a defensive minded PF involving only McLeod and Murphy. As I definately wanted to keep Hardaway and Roberson there's no reason to keep McLeod on the team. No team wanted to have him (and trust me I tried a bunch of possibilities) I had to trade him along with Ellis.

Some nice trades pulled up here, also I have to say that I would never have traded Monta Ellis. He is an upcoming scoring machine, very quick and with a good shot.
Rodney Carney has a good perimeter defense and could support your run&gun style, Baron Davis and Jason Richardson exercise. And I wont miss McLeod anyway, but as I said, Ellis is my man, so I do not like that trade too much.
Randolph will clearly perform better on the offensive end, although Murphy´s shot may be better than Zach´s. So you get the inside scoring boost your team desperatly needed. Although he is a versatile big man I think it is the right decision to give away O´Bryant, Randolph will just fit perfectly, and you will still have Andris Biedrins left, who is more than solid and does also have future.
So I like this trade a lot

Warriors lose season opener
Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors 88 - 85
1st Quarter
Shane Battier hit the first basket at the Arena in Oakland in the new season. But Jason Richardson responded immediately. The Rockets found obviously faster in the game hitting shot after shot to give them an early 11-5 lead. The Warriors found their rythm after a a monster dunk by Zach Randolph. The team narrowed the gap to 2. Baron Davis early left the game due to foul trouble. Penny Hardaway dunked the ball to give the Warriors their first lead of the evening. They never were down again and finished the first quarter leading 24-22.
Second Quarter
It was Shane Battier again who hit a three pointer to start the quarter with. It was Baron Davis who held the Warriors in the game by scoring 8 points in a row. The second quarter was full of ties and lead changes but no team was able to get on a hot streak. At the End of the second quarter, the Rockets up 45 - 43.

Despite being known of being a poor third quarter team the Warriors came out quickly regained the lead. And once again Baron Davis had to head to the bench after commiting his fourth Personal Foul early in the third. Penny Hardaway seemed comfortable with doing Davis' job and continued his solid performance. Zach Randolph dominated the paint in the last few minutes scoring 10 points from inside. His performance gave the Warriors a 68 - 63 lead.
Fourth Quarter
Despite the Warrior's main scorers tonight resting at the beginning of the fourth the team was able to hold Houston on distance. After a very questionable call by the referee, Baron Davis fouled out in the middle of the fourth. But it was Tracy McGrady who gave the Warriors nightmares. With great effort he managed to outscore the home team 13-4. Rockets lead by 1 with 3.30 remaining. With only 1 minute left the Warriors still up by 1. But Tracy McGrady stepped up again and with a great performance. Rockets up by three. Mickael Pietrus missed a game-tieing 3 pointer to force overtime. Rockets win 88 - 85.

The Warriors are looking to rebound from their recent loss against the Houston Rockets when they face the Memphis Grizzlies tonight. Baron Davis and Zach Randolph really battled defensively denying the Grizzlies several easy baskets. Rookie Rudy Gay made a good impression on the floor causing havoc in the Warrior's defence. Hakim Warrick completed a 3 point play at the end of the first. Warriors up 29 - 19.
Second Quarter
The Warriors were on fire in the second quarter scoring bucket after bucket. The Grizzlie's defence had no chance containing the Warrior's penetration. Baron Davis and Penny Hardaway gave them nightmares. The only bright spot on the opponent's team was rookie Rudy Gay, the only player to score more than 4 points for the Grizzlies in the quarter. The recent acquisition of rookie Rodney Carnes indicates that either Mike Dunleavy or Mickael Pietrus are likely to leave the team. After researching possible trades, insiders say that Dunleavy is likely to head to Memphis, the team the Warriors defeated today, for Shooting Guard Mike Miller. This trade would give the Warriors a much needed spark off the bench as well as solid 3 point shooting. Dunleavy has been disappointing so far in the pre-season as well as in the first game missing several shots. Dunleavy on the other hand could be quite useful for Memphis as it gives the team time to develop Rudy Gay and he fits better in the team's system.

@ someone actually wanting Bowen... Oh well, keeping Wagner was a good choice for me personally, but I didn't like the fact that you shipped off probably one of my favourite Warriors (Ellis) and gotten a lard ass like Randolph. Oh well, at least I still like Carney.

Warriors win 4th quarter thriller against Grizzlies
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors 91 - 95
1st Quarter
For the second time in 2 days the Grizzlies return to the Arena in Oakland looking to rebound from a blowout they suffered two days ago. Damon Stoudemire stated before the game that it will not be as easy for the Warriors tonight. Golden State obviously carried some momemtom from last game to this one as they started to control the flow of the game early. Baron Davis looked very comfortable especially on the defensive end. The Warriors held the Grizzlies to only 9 points near the end of the first. A mid-range buzzer-beater by Rodney Carney ended the first quarter. Warriors up 27 - 16.
Second Quarter
It was Damon Stoudemire again who tried to get the Grizzlies back into the game, but obviously the Warriors would'nt allow that to be easy. A rain of three pointers by Damon Stoudemire narrowed the gap to 7. A short range jumper by Chucky Atkins completed a nice run by Memphis. Warriors still up 48 - 42 at half-time.

The Grizzlies had no measure against the penetration of Jason Richardson who constantly blew by his defenders. A couple of careless turnovers helped the Grizzlies to come back into the game. Gasol and Atkins worked together beautifully decreasing the Warriors lead to 5. Score 68-63.
Fourth Quarter
If your lead is slipping away you have to have a guy on the floor who can take over the game. This guy was Baron Davis. He fed his teammates with beautiful passes and completed several nice plays himself to help the Warriors increase their lead again to 10 early in the fourth. With Hakeem Warrick playing a nice game tonight Pau Gasol sits out the fourth and watches the Warrick and Gay battleing for every point. The Grizzlies only down by 5 with 1 minute to go desperately tried to come away with the win. But it was over when Ike Diogu hit two free-throws with 10 seconds left in the game. Warriors win 95 - 91-

Third Quarter
The Warriors obviously felt comfortable with Penny Hardaway running the offense as they rebuilt their 11 point lead. The Grizzlies had no measure against the penetration of Jason Richardson who constantly blew by his defenders. A couple of careless turnovers helped the Grizzlies to come back into the game. Gasol and Atkins worked together beautifully decreasing the Warriors lead to 5. Score 68-63.
Fourth Quarter
If your lead is slipping away you have to have a guy on the floor who can take over the game. This guy was Baron Davis. He fed his teammates with beautiful passes and completed several nice plays himself to help the Warriors increase their lead again to 10 early in the fourth. With Hakeem Warrick playing a nice game tonight Pau Gasol sits out the fourth and watches the Warrick and Gay battleing for every point. The Grizzlies only down by 5 with 1 minute to go desperately tried to come away with the win. But it was over when Ike Diogu hit two free-throws with 10 seconds left in the game. Warriors win 95 - 91-

He's going to be traded. I don't like playing with him at all because he neither can hit open threes nor drive into the lane and with Pietrus and Carney playing he is quite useless. That's why I want to trade him but I'm not sure about trading him to Memphis for Mike Miller (which works) because it's kind of a rip-off.
