XBOX 360 Poll

Sat Nov 11, 2006 5:09 am

I am looking to buy an xbox 360, but i always hear people talking about how they get the ring of death, or how an update makes their system crash, or how it overheats and stops working. I just want to know how many of you have an xbox and how many have experienced problems.

I haven't had any problems at all. However, I do know that if you have it on its side and it falls over, the disk that is in there will be fucked up. I haven't had problems with overheating, but I know some people have. You can buy something that you attach on that keeps it from overheating if you're worried about that.

yah i had issues with overheating (poor ventilation on my part)

I get crashing from time to time because you also have to vent the power supply (perferably on all six sides of it) and I just dont have a good place to put it

in the end is it worth it?

FUCK YA

My nephew had to send his in. But that was after he put it into a tv stand and the doors closed. So i think as long as you keep it in an area where it can breath it will be fine. I just wonder if i have that kind of area. :)

I've had mine give the the three flashing red lights before, but I just turned it off and turned it back on and it worked fine. That's happened a couple of times actually.

my dvd-drive stopped working.. then i sent it back and the new one is good so far, sometimes just a little overheating but im looking for a more ventilated place for it... also did anyone buy the cooler for it :?: Does it make any difference :?:

i did, and it works amazing

only problem is i have it verticle, if i try and have the console horizontal the cooler makes a lot of noise. Could just be mine though

So the majority of the people who replied had a problem with their system. I think ill wait for ps3 to come out. I dont feel like buying a 400 dollar system only to have problems with it.

Wait for PS3.

I don't consider having to turn my system off and back on a problem. It's not like it happened in game, just when I was trying to turn it on.

besides the few problem i would definetly recommend it...

Another thing to understand is that there are problems with the 1st generation of ANY gaming system. I can't tell you how many problems I had with my original PS2. It's just the nature of the beast. The 1st wave is released, and then the bugs are worked out consequently as later waves are let out. So, don't expect an XBOX 360 you're going to get around now to have many of the problems you may have read about with regard to those who got it the day they came out.

At any rate, still get the PS3.

im amazed by this, whenever i handle my 360 im very very careful with it cause i think a 3 foot drop would destroy it.....

he didnt show any pics of it actually working but still amazing.

I just read about the PS3 also having the three lights of doom, and the console wont turn on and nothing can be done as of yet. So atm it doesnt matter which you get, your gonna get problems.

I got the red lights of death when I first brought it bakc in early march, I sent it back in and got a new one 3 days later that has worked perfectly fine .

Hey guys, I finally got enough money to get an xbox 360 which im either getting tonight or tomorrow, but I was wondering if it would be a good investment to get one of those cooling fan thingys? Becuase both my regular xbox and ps2 have broke due to over heating. Part of it may be due to it was in a very cluttered place, but I can change where I put it I just wanna be safe.

We (My friends and I) bought our 360's when it was just released. We all had hardware problems, I had to wait like three weeks to get a new one again.

Tue Nov 21, 2006 12:16 am

oh hey i forgot update my issue with the noise.

Turns out the problem laid with the fans in the back that cool the thing. If I leave it on it's side for a minute or two the loud noise goes away.

Wed Nov 22, 2006 11:55 am

I have had my Xbox 360 since launch day (I waited in line for mine). I have not had a single problem with it at all. I am probably one of the few people with a launch machine that isn't having any problems.
