i preorded mine 2 days ago and it looks really good. I played it at the shop and the controlls are extremly acurate.
Well the Wii isnt as powerfull as the PS3 or Xbox 360 but because of the conrollers and motion thingy, i'd take the Wii. Although some of the games look like they are using GameCube graphics, while other games look fantastic.

It fun as hell, especially Zelda. The new controls work very well. Wii Sports (comes with the JAP/NA system) is very fun, even for a basic tutorial like game. The wii-mote (the main controller) works very well and is extremely accurate. In Zelda, the controller is so accurate that you can shoot incoming enemies easily (not too easily of course).
The graphics on my standard TV are good. A lot better than that of the PS2, and better than the GC imo, bu at least 1/2. My TV supports component cables, but unfortunately I don't have $30-35 to buy it, and they (Nintendo) only sells them online or at Best Buy. With component cables, the graphics are supposed to improve by almost 2x. I have read on many sites that Zelda looks extremely improved on component cables compared to what it looks like with composite cables (red, white, yellow).
Excite Truck is fun, but the tutorials piss me off. When you first start the game, you must finish all 4 sections of the tutorials, and each section has around 4-5 missions or w/e. After it's done, you get to play your Excite Mode (or w/e... and that is just finishing races and cups). It's very fun, and the controls are awesome.
Also, when I picked up my Wii, the box was surprisingly small. I saw videos on the internet of the box and the Wii itself (along with the controllers) and in real life, the box, the console and the controller seem to be extremely small. The box is verrrryyy small, but it has some weight to it. Surprisingly it (the full box) weights a lot more than you'd expect.
If you could pick up a Wii, you should do it. After playing the Wii (Zelda, Excite Truck, and Wii Sports) I have to say, it will be verrrrrrryyy difficult to go back to gaming the old way (standard controller like 360 and PS2). The whole motion sensing and gyro (I think) really makes everything new and easier and a lot more fun.
By the way, my mom was never really a fan of video games, except Tetris on the GB, but today, she was watching my brother and I playing Wii Sports Baseball, and she wanted to try and thought it was an interesting way to play video games. If it were the PS3 or 360, she wouldn't bother with that controller.

so played the wii...just wii sports tonight (they're taking back the games they bought so they didnt want to open them)...and it was amazing. The controls are phenomenally sensitive and respond well. The Wii has enough power for me (take a look at Call of Duty 3) but then some games look like shit (GT racing)....but I'm probably asking for one for xmas...

yeah the line for the Wii this morning at our store was crazy. We had a good number (50) and I watched the first few people buy theirs. I closed the store tonight and we had so much cash from the Wiis I think I counted like $5100 in 20 dollar bills alone.
I kinda want one now but not as uch as the PS3. The Ps3 is a must-buy for me. If not now, at least when they get a decent supply out to the stores.

I don't really see the point of buying a brand new gaming console RIGHT on the launch dates and stuff (go ahead, flame me on this). The first gen of any consoles are always bound to have bugs and be ridiculously overpriced (well maybe not the Wii, but the PS3 sure is). Not to mention if you can't get one in a local store around you, and really want one, you'd probably have to go to eBay to get one. I checked a day ago on eBay, and I saw only ONE PS3 going for less than $1000 Canadian. Most of them go for atleast around $150-200 more than you can get at a store. Unless you're extremely desperate, I don't really see a point in getting it so quickly. Don't even try saying bragging rights is a good reason to get it right off the bat.
Atleast you got the Wii, which is atleast affordable, just about the same price as getting an Ipod Nano 4gig. $650 or $700 American, or whatever it is, for a freaking gaming console? Screw you Sony.

Seeing as how the PS3 is so damn expensive and the fact that Sony has a bad track record with their starting consoles, I'd wait a year or two for the price to drop and for Sony to fix up the errors with the original consoles first.

Well PS3 has been out for an astounding two days haha. I'd say xbox 360 is a good bargain soon, they'll release a bundle of the premium edition and Gears of War, which I'll get. I really want to try the Wii, but won't be getting it since my gaming preferences, especially game selections lie elsewhere.

I'm glad to see there isn't much nintendo hate in the thread yet.
I'm looking forward to the Wii. I haven't ever been excited about a new game console (well, maybe the Jaguar, but that didn't exactly work out), but this one I am.
