Here goes my NBA 2k7 Charlotte Bobcats Association. For those who followed my previous Live dynasties, don't expect it to be the same. This time around I'm on Xbox 360, have a lot less leisure time so this one will be updated sporadically & when I feel like it. I'll try to upload some pics off digital camera when I get the chance, but yeah, we'll see how we go. All that being said, hope you enjoy all the same.

Feel free to post now. I'm off to play my 4th game of the season. Currently Adam Morrison is off the bench as he learns the ropes, but I can imagine by Christmas he'll likely be starting. No players are currently on the trading block. I'm giving Bickerstaff as long as he needs to get these guys working out well for the team. I hired 2 new scouts, so now I hold the full compliment of 3 scouting staff to tour the world for the latest Hans Hasselhoff or Guy "That Guy" Dumars.

Gerald Wallace, MVP (Y)

 I feel the pain, I felt it waiting for the game :(

as for Wallace, I love how in 2k7, a player like him is actually worth playing....in previous Live's, he couldn't hit open J so he was useless....in my opening game, he had like 22pts, 8rebs, 2blks, 1stl....I lost it, but damn, he was all of the place like real life....even a player like Brevin Knight is useful, whereas in the past he wasn't....and through the first half a month, Adam Morrison's FG% is like 30-35%, he's had some rookie troubles, but he's getting about 13ppg off the bench & you just know he's destined for big things....the game's great....

cheers, good luck with the move....I'm moving into new house with fiance one week from today, so I understand the pain in the arse it is to move....

yeah, I thought about doing a longer one but I wanted to move it along....I'll probably be playing a multi-player Association with my older brother as well, starting in a few weeks after I move & start some weekly squash battles (get a bit of fitness for Irish season next year) with him....

rongotai wrote:Looks good bro

cheers, I'll look out for it  I couldn't wait for Live connection & roster update, I just updated myself....not too many guys missing, just one or two annoying omissions like Garbajosa, Novak, etc....

yeah, MH, I don't know if there'll be "That Guy", but with all the genome this year then could be "The Next Hoff"

haven't really played squash much before, but seems like a good 2 player sport that my brother & I can play to improve fitness....

as for gym, don't go as I don't have enough free time....

ImageFIRST TRI-MESTER RECAP

It's been struggle city for the Charlotte Bobcats in the early going as the team finds itself bottom of the Southeast Division with a 3-8 record, after dropping their last 3 games to end the month of December.

The team that started the season isn't the same as it sits now, as Michael Jordan got busy. His first move of the season was to sign 2nd year defensive guard Orien Greene to a 1 year deal at league minimum. Early in December, with a dismal 2-5 record, Jordan started to wheel & deal. The division rival Atlanta Hawks offered up 3rd year swingman Josh Childress straight up for Sean May. The team hasn't been to enamoured with May & felt that with Okafor healthy again, May's talent was just being wasted on the bench in Charlotte. The fact that the Bobcats are in dire need of a decent SG was also apparent as the team had been starting 5'10" PG Brevin Knight at the spot, as rookie Adam Morrison continued to struggle with the transition to the pro game.

With May's verdict a given, the team looked for a better offer out of the Hawks & after some failed 3 team trade talks, the Bobcats were adamant that they wanted a 1st Rounder in any deal for Sean May, as May is a talented big man with potential to boot. Whereas Childress, whilst having good size (6'8") for a SG is still relatively raw & can be more easily replicated in the league than May can. So we counter offered the Hawks Sean May for Josh Childress and the Hawk's 2007 1st Round draft pick. The Hawks immediately counter-offered this & wanted us to throw in talented, yet inconsistent, Melvin Ely into the trade. Whilst the Bobcats didn't want to give up both talented big's, a potentially high 1st Rounder in a fairly good draft, as well as a need filled at SG was too much to pass, as the Bobcats accepted the trade. Sean May & Melvin Ely for Josh Childress & 2007 1st Rd pick.

Now the team lacked a bit of insurance at the PF spot, so the team went hunting for a young PF with some upside who wouldn't mind starting off as the team's 3rd string forward off the bench, but with the view for minutes to progress as the season wore on. The Bobcats believe they had found it in former Jayhawk, Wayne Simien of the Miami Heat. So after some back & forth negotiations between the teams, a trade was resolved. The Bobcats sent Orien Greene (who the team thoroughly liked), Bernard Robinson (I guess the Heat were after some backup guards like real life) & the Bobcats' 2008 2nd Round pick to Miami for 2nd year PF Wayne Simien & rookie free agent guard Mike Gansey. We like both of these two new players, so we're happy with how the deal lined up.

To see the updated roster & lineup, see the 2nd post of page 1 of the thread.

Now that you know the roster, here's how the team & players have shaped up:

Pros:
- The team has played the passing lanes well, especially Wallace, Felton & Knight.
- Rookie Adam Morrison has the ability to light the scoreboard up quickly. Don't lay off Matt Carroll though, as he can light it up for outside as well.
- Gerald Wallace is the star of this team, at both ends. He's got All-Star potential in next couple of season written all over him.

Cons:
- Have rebounded surprisingly poorly at the defensive end (we definitely need more boardwork out of Meka if we're gonna win games).
- Inconsistent play from Brezec & Morrison (although Morrison leads team in scoring at about 15ppg off the bench, that number is skewed by one huge 35pt outburst he had against the Pistons).
- The team regularly goes on offensive droughts & really needs someone on the team to step up & become the go-to-guy because at the moment that just isn't happening.
- The team has been fouling too much & generally needs more discipline & patience at both ends of the court.
- New pickup Josh Childress has been pretty inconsistent himself, & really needs to get into the gym & develop a consistent jumper to keep the defense honest.

The team's owner is happy with how everything is going as I'm keeping costs down & driving profits up, as I look to build a more entertaining team, that will hopefully drive up merchandise (which has increased 50% already since I took over, maybe having Adam Morrison helps).

Team chemistry is pretty rat shit, but maybe because we're playing like scared mice, rather than mean rats.

The scouts have revealed that there are some very good prospect in the top half of the lottery & even if the season can not be turned around, there are a couple of very exciting prospects waiting in the wings, which I will cover closer to the end of the season.

Here's a few pics from early in the season:

Image
I guess Tracy McGrady must be getting used to handling the NBA's new sticky balls by now

Image
The Bobcats hope to add a few championship banners to their rafters

Image
What the heck does a bear have to do with the Rockets?!? At least the cheerleaders are hotter this year

Image
The 2006/07 Charlotte Bobcats. Matt Carroll looks pretty pale, it's probably how I'd look in tangerine too.

Image
'Go The Mo'. That's the latest catch phrase going around in Charlotte.

Image
I knew scouts said Jameer Nelson was too undersized to be effective as a starting PG, but I didn't realise he was that short. And how about Mo'rrison, wouldn't you like him to stalking your daughter or sister.

Image
Back to ball, Wallace provided many highlights over the first 2 months of the season, including this postering of little Jameer.

Take it easy,
X

Dope recap X,

Love the pickup of Mike Gansey.. I had him in a game against my mate on his 360, and i decided to start him and bring Eddie Jones off the bench.. Lit up for 38 points, so ive become a big fan.

With Morrisons inconsistency, is it due to you being unable to use his jumpshot? Cos i thought it was a bitch of a thing when i was playing with him.. Gansey's on the other hand.. MONEY!

Look forward to round 2!

That sounded quite funny lol. Not sure about Childress, whats his D like? i think maybe you should build a defensive team, the Bobcats have the potential to be the next 2004 Detroit Pistons if built around Meka and Wallace. I would consider trading Voskhul, but i'm not sure what hes like in the game so he might be good for you.

Don't worry about the record it will pick up as you get better at the game. And nice pics btw, haha Morrison the sleeze :D

talking about graphics, I just can't wait to get my hands on Gears of War, supposedly best looking game ever....a worthy next gen title....

but back to Association, yeah, the game is sooo much harder than Live....on Live, you could cruise & win on superstar....I started this Association on superstar, & got spanked twice, & moved down to all-star, & I'm competitive, but falling down at last hurdle....I think if I had a team, say like Dallas, I'd be winning majority of games on All-Star difficulty, but these Bobcats are a whole different story....the computer AI just kills you for any minor mistake, just like IRL....it's good though, it'll make the wins mean that much more

cheers....yep, I'm a huge fan of Mike Gansey ever since I saw him in NCAA Tourney for the Mountaineers, he was just the type of player that is impossible not to like....

as for Morrison's inconsistency, I think his unusual signature shot doesn't help, but I'm not too bad at using him....he's got a quick release on it, even though it looks slow....he gets hot & cold, just like he is IRL, but he'll get his chance to shine, that's for sure....

if you wanna talk weird signature jumpshots, Josh Childress is a shocker....he's gonna really take some adjusting to get use to him....he shots from in front like Marion but not as weird looking, although he also has a fairly quick release which is hard to judge....

as for round 2, probably won't be for a wee while, as moving into new house this weekend, so probably won't get a chance to play much for at least the next week or so....

Childress' D is fairly good....he's got good size at 6'8", is fairly athletic & at the moment he's starting at SG based on his D....Morrison just doesn't have much D at all & needs to be slowly trained up so he's not such a liability....but yeah, I will be looking at building a defensive team, since that is the core of the lineup....hence the trade for Childress, who can develop into a good defender....the free agent signing of Greene (even though he was traded) & Gansey is no slouch at defensive end....& we all know what Meka & Wallace can do, as well as Knight too....

as for Voskuhl, who I've dubbed 'Jake The Muss', isn't going anywhere....he's a cheap bigman who boards, defends, sets screens & is a solid backup....Primo will be back in starting lineup with next game or two I'd say, I'm just trying different lineups at the mo....we might even see Meka, Wallace & Morrison frontline against smaller teams....

also, anyone who followed my Live '05 Bobcats' dynasty knows that I don't get easily deterred by poor records, I actually prefer them....it's more realistic

anyways, thanks for the comments guys....can't really see myself making anymore deals this season, unless something gets offered that is too good to pass up on....I'm just going to try & build up the core (Meka, Wallace, Morrison & possibly Felton & Childress, depending on their play) & find what works for this ballclub....
