Cannibal Holocaust or Baise Moi? If you're referring to Cannibal Holocaust, what's the 'subtle' point?

Cannibal Holocaust. I think it's pretty obvious what author tried to say/ask: who's the real savage (the amoral filmakers or the village people) and cannibal (the bussines men who want to make money on expense of other people's misery or the village people)? It's actually a pretty good idea, but hidden in a very lousy movie.

And thanks for recommending The Corporation to me. I'll watch it later, but based on reviews I read, I'm convinced that I'll enjoy it.

Baise Moi was a waste of time from my point of view. I would have preferred reinstalling Live and giving it a run if I knew beforehand what the movie would be like.

I just watched The Descent.
And all I can say this movie is brilliant.
It keeps you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end.It is just that good.I never thought I would be so blown away from this one.So to all of you movie lovers out there,The Descent is a must see in my opinion.

I just watched North County.... it was very good. I would recommend it. I also watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang a while back, and that was also okay. recaught a bit of jarhead (i watched a long time ago)... i'm still not sure if I like it... but i know i don't not like it. Plus I liked the sequence around the puking sand scene.

If you can call it horror that is,because most of these new so called "horror" pictures are shit.The people who make the film think that if they include some blood and zombies,they will shock the viewer.That is just not it.I mean sure "the element of scaring the viewer"does scare for a second and makes you watch the movie more intense,but that is pretty much it.I remember I watched some old horror movies months ago and they were good you were shocked,you feared the character etc. And because the other new movies were shit I said that The Descent was brilliant.

I watched "Nightmare on Elm Street" the other day. It is interesting to see how far the horror-genre has come, that movie in particular wasn't that scary at all to me but i'm sure it would have seriously freaked people out when first released.

Yeah I agree it isn't scary at all if I would watch it now.Got the boxset at home with the Friday the 13 boxset,but I'm lazy to watch it.

I watched "Nightmare on Elm Street" the other day. It is interesting to see how far the horror-genre has come, that movie in particular wasn't that scary at all to me but i'm sure it would have seriously freaked people out when first released.

It's a similar thing with Edgar Allen Poe. People were freaked out with his stories, but nowadays it's still a brilliant classic, but not as scary as the more explicit psychological ones.

I also was forced to watch Nanny McPhee over the weekend, and it was cute, predictable, and meh.

Funny I was telling my friends how funny those Nightmare on Elm Street and Chucky fims are when I caught them recently. I couldnt believe thats what horrified me back then, I was so ashamed. It seemed more like a comedy rather than a horror flick. Movies have really come far over the years.

Unfortunately I have to give a somewhat negative review to Saw 3. By itself I think its a pretty decent modern horror film, but when compared to the other 2 it just doesn't measure up. The end sort of leaves you feeling like eh, yeah it makes sense, yeah its good, yeah good twist, but at the same time you feel a little disappointed and left out. It doesn't make you go "Oh man, if he had just waited 30 more minutes!" "Oh man, Imagine how bad it would suck to be in that position, ahhhhh!" like the other two.

Also they keep doing all these weird transtitional shots for like the first 45 minutes of the movie where it looks like their panning in the same room, but the pan ends somewhere completely different. It is clever the first 4 or 5 times they do it, but then it starts to get annoying.

I give it a 7.2/10.

I just watched Superman on DVD (missed it in the theatre's due to the cremation) and frankly, I didn't like it.

It was cheesy, but Superman is one of the more cheesier type of Superhero's. I like super hero's that are a bit darkish and brooding. Batman for one, but Wolverine's character is amazing too. That's the only reason I'm actually looking forward to the new Spiderman.

I don't know if I'd have liked it better if they just started from the beginning, meaning not make a follow up to Reeves' Superman, but just start afresh a la Batman.

Rumor has it that WB intends to make a Batman/Superman movie sometime in the future. I'm still undecided about how I feel towards the idea.

Don i completely agree on the not continuing reeves superman storylines...that was terrible, they could've just started fresh and it would've had potential....while i thoroughly enjoyed Superman Returns, it was more just the fact it was a superman movie and it was the nostalgia it instilled, not the quality of the flick. Superman is always the "prototype" of a superhero, all others are a different twist on him. Alot of
"cheesier" comics have the potential to be dark and brooding as you say. Hell spiderman had his venom phase (which is why i'm about to go crazy waiting for the 3rd movie). But anyways not a comic discussion...i digressed....anyway a batman superman crossover? all i can say is HELL NO...has there even been a good crossover flick? (dont even say freddy versus jason, it was terrible)

After seeing the joke that was the Miami Heat on opening night, I just watched Ella Enchanted on cable.
I think that movie was intended for young kids and horny teenagers. The outfits showed some ample knockers for a kiddie flick.

im going to see it tomorrow night with friends(although still trying to figure out how i'll get in).
7.2? that's fine with me, i read a review in the paper this morning and it got 1/5. Im guessing theres going to be more scares and gore, where as the fisrt 2 had a good story line

Hey Don, a Superman Batman movie has always been in the works I believe but it never got picked up... what do you know:

it was announced that Nicolas Cage would play Superman in a fifth Warner Bros. Superman film, Tim Burton would direct, and Anthony Hopkins would appear as Jor-El, with Michael Keaton to appear as Batman. Several posters of a silver 'S' shield against a black background, stating "Coming 1998", were made before the project was eventually called off. Cage left the project after growing tired of the delayed production and Hopkins followed when it was clear it was going nowhere.
