This is my new Indiana Pacers dynasty for season 06/07.

Coach Rick Carlisle said in a press conference today that he was both pleased and excited with the acquisition of Al Harrington, the former Atlanta Hawks PF. "Al is sure to increase our defensive intensity and I think this season, he (harrington) and Jermaine O'Neal will be an unstoppable force in the paint"
What about your offensive quality's this season? "Well Sarunas Jasikevicius averaged over 23 points a game for Lithuania in the 2003 european championships and I'm sure he will adapt to life in the NBA with us. Also former Mav Marquis Daniels will be a strong addition to the new-look roster this season - we will have some great competition for places.

Well Rick Carlisle was all smiles in that press conference yesterday, its sure to be a team to watch this season!

Harrington and O'Neal fight Off the Magic


Jermaine O'Neal and Indiana fight through the Magic

In the first game of the Pacers 06/07 campaign, Indiana travelled to the TD Waterhouse Center to face the Orlando Magic. The Pacers knew this would be no easy game, and so did Rick Carlisle, as he put out his strongest 5 which consisted of:
C Jermaine O'Neal
PF Al Harrington
SF Danny Granger
SG Stephen Jackson
PG Jamaal Tinsley

The Magic won the tip off and charged downcourt, Harrington knew he was in for a rough night as PF Dwight Howard dunked over him in the first 10 seconds. It was soon clear that this game was to be won and lost in the paint. Luckily for the Pacers - Jermaine O'Neal crashed the boards in the first half and pulled down 4 in the first 9 minutes. However Dwight Howard and Bo Outlaw continued to convert inside through distribution from Jameer Nelson. Harrington tried to block Howard but, as we've seen before in the NBA - he is a very strong individual and converted two "and 1's" in the first quarter. Harrington, with 3 fouls was pulled out of the game and replaced by David Harrison who took down one rebound in the quarter. On the offensive end, Jermaine O'Neal proved too clever for Outlaw twisting and turning his way inside for the easy bucket - he finished the quarter with 11 points.
1st Quarter : Pacers 18 - 20 Magic

In the second quarter - Indiana showed a significant improvement on the defensive end, with Jamaal Tinsley boasting 2 steals in the first five minutes and Jermaine O'Neal denying Bo Outlaw twice. But Dwight Howard still proved a problem as he soared for the monstrous throwdon on David Harrison. But Harrison hit back, sinking three consecutive mid range jumpers mid-way through the second period. But things went downhill for the Pacers and Jamaal Tinsley as he got bumped as he went for the lay-up by Outlaw. He limped off and was replaced by Darrel Armstrong. The veteran had many experience in these circumstances and sunk the two free throws Tinsley had earned. But Orlando reverted the outside with two minutes to go - Jameer Nelson hit a three pointer and a sweet mid-ranger, but O'Neal was the decisive character in the quarter as he dunked home five fast break plays, winning the quarter for Indy.
2cnd quarter Pacers 41-41 Magic

Despite good performances by both Harrison and Armstrong, Tinsley and Harrington were subbed back into the game at the start of the third quarter, and what a decision it turned out to be - Harrington denied Outlaw three times in two minutes and Tinsley relentlessly drove through the lanes to secure himself 12 points. As usual, the Magic reverted back into the paint and Dwight Howard - he got past Harrington but O'Neal came across and swatted it into the announce table. Harringon shone also at the offensive end throwing down 20 points in the 3rd quarter. Jameer Nelson sunk two three's but the Pacers finished the quarter in a commanding position.
3rd quarter Pacers 62- 56

Orlando came out of the blocks quick in the fourth quarter - with Outlaw laying up for 6 points in three minutes and Howard rejected O'Neal early on. Harrington picked up his fourth personal as Nelson sunk the "and 1" opportunity. Carlisle felt the game slipping away from his team and consequently subbed on new-comer Marquis Daniels for Granger. He missed a mid-range shot but raced back on the defensiv end to deny Grant Hill. Then began the O'neal show, Jermaine rejected Outlaw twice and threw down sixteen points in the fourth quarter. Despite a late rally from both Howard and Nelson, the Pacers managed to hold-on for the win.
Final Score: Pacers 86-78 Magic.

Player Of the Game : Jermaine O'Neal who boasted 47 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

How much of a help is it to have both Darell Armstrong and David Harrison on the bench for you who can come on and fill the positions like they did tonight?
We have one of, if not the best bench in the NBA in my opinion, Sarunas didn't play tonight, but his time will come, Marquis pulled down four baords and rejected Grant Hill (laughs) he's still going on about that (laughs) but yeah, its very helpful and it showed tonight.
What did you think of the Harrington and O'Neal partnership tonight?
Well it was tremendous, there was a real chemistry tonight and I can see great things in the future of the Pacers.

After Rick Carlisle's Pacers went to Orlando and dealt with a beast in the paint, last night they went to Miami in an attempt to deal with a monster, Shaquille O'Neal. Carlisle put out this starting five to face the Miami Heat at the American Airlines Arena:

Harrington won the tip and charged downcourt for the bucket - only to meet Shaq Attack in the paint, the ball was swatted out into the stands- the miami crowd went wild. From the inbounds throw however, Jasekivicius drove through the lane and avoided Antoine Walker for the two. On the Pacer's defence, things were looking good too when Jermaine O'Neal smacked away Jason Williams lay-up attempt. It was clear from the start that was going to be a very physical game and, like last week's encounter with the Magic, it would be won and lost in the paint. However, Sarunas Jasekivicius sunk a three and proved they could also become a threat from the outside, the Heat on the other hand had their own outside man - Dwayne Wade, however his shot was clawed away by Harrington 3 minutes into the first quarter. Then Shaq came into play and dunked home to give the Heat a one point lead, later followed by a three from PG jason Williams. The Pacer's responded well with baskets from Jermaine O'Neal, Jasekivicius and Jackson to level the scores. 7 minutes later, Jermaine O'Neal picked up his fourth foul and was subbed out for David Harrison, no sooner had he stepped onto the court Sarunas Jasekivicius, playing well, was involved in a nasty collision with Antoine Walker, veteran darrel armstrong came into the lineup and immediately made an impact by racing for a quick-layup, tying the game at the end of the 1st quarter.
1st quarter Pacers 19-16 Heat

Dwayne Wade and the heat came out blazing, with wade dunking on Marquis Daniels from a Jason Williams assist. The next time he tried, however, he too was hit and subbed out for derek Anderson. Harrington charged downcourt on offense and was fouled by shaquille o'neal, who was subbed off because of foul trouble. Alonzo Mourning filled his size 23 shoes............. and blocked Armstrong when Harrington missed his second. Good Shooting from Daniels, Harrison and Armstrong restored Indiana's lead, only soon to be lost when Jason Williams both hit threes, ending the second quarter
Halftime: Pacers 32-32 Heat

At the start of the 3rd quarter, the Pacers line-up looked much more familiar, Jermaine O'Neal came back in with Harrington and Shaquille O'Neal entered the game for the Heat. He was the decisive character as he threw down 13 points, with dwayne wade dunking home 16. Only Daniels, Harrington and Jermaine O'Neal score for the Pacers.
Third Quarter Pacers 48- 54 Heat

Miami tried to pick up where they left off, whilst Jermaine O'Neal picked up where he never began - blocking a dunk attempt from Shaq. But things got worse for Rick Carlisle, Harrington joined the injured list along with Jasekivicius as he was crushed underneath Walker and O'Neal, Harrison rejoined the line-up and made an impact from the get-go as he slapped away Jason Williams mid range jump shot. On the next defensive play, Jermaine O'Neal tried to do the same, but Jason Williams put on a burst of speed O'Neal was called for his fith personal, he was subbed out and in came Scott Pollard. Daniels hit a nice jumper and stole the ball from derek andersson twice but Indiana could not convert and it cost them dearly as Shaquille dunked 9 points including an "and 1" The Heat now lead by seven and coach Carlisle had no choice but to bring in Jermaine O'Neal if Indiana were to have any chance of winning this game, he claimed 4 points but Shaq proved to be just to strong and despite late three's from Armstrong and Jackson, the Heat won the game
Final Score Pacers 71-79 Heat

Mr. Carlisle, where was the game lost for you tonight? Well, the line-up and the game plan went completely out the window when Jermaine O'Neal picked up four in the first quater, Sarunas and Al were injured, but by any terms shaq played brilliantly, we could not contain him - I'm not going to make excuses.

Whats the news on Jasekivicius and Harrington? Sarunas will be out for the next game but Al should be able to return.

The Pacers Beat the 76ers in first home game of the season.

Al Harrington jams home the win


With great support from the fans, the boys from Indy were back on track since their loss 2 nights ago in Miami to the Heat. Jermaine O'Neal was awarded player of the game, grabbing 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks as the Pacers managed to hold on to their buzzer beating game winner from Marquis Daniels who got his first real chance to shine since his trade from the Dallas Mavericks in the off-season, putting up 16 points. Despite an MVP worthy performance from Allen Iverson, who dominated the first half for Philadelphia and got 47 points overall, the inside men and Marquis Daniels put the Pacers back on track.
Final Score: 76ers-78-81 Pacers

Indiana turn down Sacramento interest

Despite the interest and trade offer sent through by the Sacramento Kings, the Pacers decided to turn down the offer of Al Harrington for Mike Bibby.

Rick Carlisle added in his press conference:
"Al could have hardly started off better for us, averaging 17.3 points a game and 2 blocks. He is starting to build a strong understanding with Jermaine O'Neal and thats clear for all to see."
Were you suprised with the trade offer that was sent to you so early in the season? " Well the Kings were trying to sign Harrington last season when he was playing for the Hawks and despite the acqusition of Shareef Abdur-Rahim, they still need a dominating big man - which fortunately, we have got. Mike Bibby is a great player and could do well with us but we are not prepared to let Harrington go at this moment in time""

Indiana fall victim to the Heat again


Wade carries the Heat to the win at Indiana

The Indiana Pacers went down to the Miami Heat again for the second time in two weeks @ the Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis.


The first quarter couldn't start much better for Indiana and Al Harrington as he got 3 rebounds and 12 points in the first five minutes. Shaquille O'Neal couldn't get anything easy in the post due to some great defense by Jermaine O'Neal and Dwayne Wade was even blocked by Al Harrington after coasting past Darrel Armstrong. Jason Williams found his range 2 minutes from the end, sinking some nice jumpers and Antoine Walker also. But nothing was stopping Harrington and by the end of the quarter he led the Pacers into the lead and finished with 18 points and 5 rebounds.
1st Quarter: Heat 18-26 Pacers

The second quarter couldn't have started much worse, with the Pacers simply running, not setting up any plays or waiting for the rest of the team which Shaquille O'Neal took advantage of, blocking Daniels twice in a minute. Despite Harrington still crashing the board, Shaq was able to sneak inside and dunk through a couple of power plays. Coach Rick Carlisle saw the lead slipping and called a time-out. The message seemed to have gotten through to Indiana as they set up some nice offense which enabled the in-from Harrington to lay-up a few more points. Dwayne Wade dunked home a few spectaculars and Jason William's consistency continued however and the Pacers had a very slender lead at the end of the half.
2cnd Quarter: Heat 35-37 Pacers

Miami came out all guns blazing at the start of the second half and raced off to a 14-3 run, the points coming from every player on the court. Even though Harrington and Jermaine O'Neal shared the points between them on offense, there was nothing stopping Dwayne Wade as he raised his basket tally to 23. Rick Carlisle called a time-out and the Pacers picked up their act and hit back at the Haet with 9-0 run with Harrington grabbing all of them. Shaquille O'Neal unfortunately did what he does best: Dominate. Throwing down a vicious two hander on Harrington and swatting the ball out of his hands on defense. Big Al stuck to the task though and managed to get 2 more rebounds and another block on Dwayne Wade.
3rd Quarter: Heat 52-67 Pacers

Marquis Daniels came out in the final quarter and immediately picked up four points - a dunk on fastbreak and a fadeaway in Anderson's face. But Dwayne Wade soon became the star of the show, flying high and throwing it dwon on anyone that dared to get in his way. Eventually Jermaine O'Neal blocked him but there was no coming back from the deficit he bestowed on the Pacers. Despite more points from Harrington and 3 threes from Danny Granger, the Pacers came up short and lost to Maimi for the second time in two weeks.
Final Score: Heat 79-71 Pacers

POG: Al Harrington who got an impressive 52 points and 12 rebounds but was unable to lift the Pacers above Miami.

The word from the Indiana Pacer's training camp is that Al Harrington and Jermaine O'Neal have been working very hard with assistant Coach Marty Bettman. Its clear that Rick Carlisle is intent on building a great understanding between the two. He spoke to us:
"Once these two have a solid partnership, I belive we can go all the way, we will certainly be among the top defensive teams in the NBA, but these things take time and Marty is working very hard to help make this possible"

"Everyone is working very hard and team morale is high, as a manager, I could not be happier. New Jersey are a quality team and we will have to keep Vince Carter under control as i understand he has an average of 17.8 points a game."Any injury worries?

The New Jersey Nets lost their main man Jason Kidd the day yesterday in a freak training accident which injured his left wrist. Jeff Mcinnis stepped in - the only change to the Nets line-up

Indiana won the tip and gave it to Darrel Armstrong who sunk a nice jumper from the top of the key 7 seconds into the game, justifying Rick carlisle's choice of giving him the starting point guard position over Jamaal Tinsley. The Nets were clearly nervy as they moved gingerly up the court and Mcinnis got called for the backcourt, Jermaine O'Neal drove to the hoop, was fould and sunk 2 free throws. Al Harrington scored a lay-up as the Pacers went on a 6-0 run, but that was ended when Jeff Mcinnis got New Jersey off the mark with an open 3-pointer. From there, the play went back and forth when Marquis Daniels and Jermaine O'Neal struck form, leading the Pacers to 6 consecutive made and the lead to 14-7 with 2:30 gone in the 1st quarter. Vince Carter got off the mark with a windmill dunk on the fastbreak but Darrel Armstrong stole from Mcinnis and got the open lay-up and another on the next offensive play, increasing the pacer's lead to 18-9. The points came raining in but good shooting from SF Vince Carter, PF Cliff Robinson and PG Jeff Mcinnis gave the Nets a 26-25 lead, their first lead of the game wiht 2:14 to go. At the end of the first quarter, New Jersey's Cliff Robinson picked up his third personal, sending Harrington to the line, ending the quarter.
1st Quarter: Nets 34-33 Pacers

5 seconds into the 2cnd quarter, Robinson picked up his fourth foul and was replaced by Scott Padgett. But the Pacers could not capitalize and missed 5 straight shots, Nenad Krstic took advantage and put New Jersey in front, 40-35. Strong play from Harrington and Daniels narrowed the gap to 1 until Armstrong drained a jumper and put the Pacers back in the lead. Seconds later though, he was injured tring to prevent Padgett from scoring and was subbed off in the middle of a fine game. Jamaal Tinsley came on and the Nets restored their lead 47-43 midway through the 2cnd quarter. Then Jermaine O'Neal sprung to life and blocked Richard Jefferson then dunked home on offense to level the game 53-53 with 2:00 left in the 2cnd qaurter. Sarunas Jasekivicius came on for Jamaal Tinsley who was not playing well and put up 2 points immediately. Cliff Robinson's replacement Scott Padget got some kindly rolls though which meant New Jersey were in front at the end of the 1st half.
2cnd Quarter: Nets 62-57 Pacers

New Jersey raced out of the blocks at the start of the third and increased their lead to 9 until Marquis Daniels hit an open three. But the Nets and Jefferson were not to be denied, increasing their lead to 12. Rick Carlisle called a time-out and Granger + Tinsley re-entered the game. Tinsley got 2 assists straight away as Jermaine O'Neal converted, narrowing the gap to 8. Then O'Neal got his 5th personal foul and David Harrison came on. Harrison has been called upon many times already this season from the bench and has not dissapointed - he kept up those expectations by blocking first Carter, then Krstic, and then added to the scorebaord along with Al Harrington to bring the Pacers within one point wiht 48 seconds left in the 3rd. Krstic and Jefferson were both sent to the charity stripe and both converted but Harrington and Granger's strong shooting meant that the Pacers went into the fourth and final quarter trailing by just one basket.
3rd Quarter: Nets 89-87 Pacers

Mcinnis came out looking determined, but maybe too much as he was clattered by Harrison but still sinking the bucket and looked upset not to get the whistle to go with it. Jackson sunk a 3 from the next offensive play however, levelling the game but Harrison and Tinsley weren't content and put the pacers into the lead 93-89. Indiana played great defense with both Harrington and Harrison swatting away attempts. Harrison helped himself to a few more points, increasing Indiana's lead making it 98-92. Nets pulled a few back but Harrington was unstoppable on the offensive end throwing down 17 more points, bringing Pacers past the 100 mark and makeing the scoreboard show 104-98 to the Pacers, much to the delight of the home crowd at Conseco Fieldhouse. What followed however, was not what they had planned as Carter and Jefferson rallied together late in the fourth bringing the Nets to within 2 points. Tinsley kept laying-up the points but Mcinnis' three pointer put New Jersey in front. 112-111. Rick carlisle had no choice but to bring Jermaien O'Neal back into the game. Big Al was fouled next play and got 1 free throw, he made up for ther miss by rejecting Padgett and dunking home the fastbreak leading the Pacers to the 114-112 scoreline in favour of the Pacers with 48 seconds left on the clock. The game went back and forth with O'Neal and Padgett converted for their respective teams. 116-114 Pacers with 34 seconds left. Richard Jefferson attempted to level the score but missed the open jump shot and Jermaien O'Neal was intentionally fouled by Krstic. Luckily for Indiana, he converted both. Unluckily for Indy, Carter hit back with a three pointer making the score 118-117 to Indiana. Tinsley was fouled on his drive to the basket and put away the two free throws. New Jersey took a time-out with the score at 120-117, they needed a three pointer to go to Over-Time. The Nets came out and set up their offense, the Indiana faithful were screaming "DEFENSE, DEFENSE" Krstic faked the shot and kicked it out to Richard Jeffferson who was waiting on the three point arc. Granger struggled to get across, Jefferosn put up the shot, Pacers hearts were in mouths as the buzzer went. The whole stadium could do nothing as the ball sailed through the air. It hit the rim and bounced away as Conseco Fielhouse erupted.
Final Score: Nets 117-120 Pacers

POG: Al Harrington who snatched 38 points, 16 rebounds and shot 60% from the field at the end of the night.

Mr. Carlisle, how are you feeling about you're team at the start of the season?
Very happy, mainly with our defense, it has been superb so far and we will continue to work hard in training.
How do you respond to rumours that too much of you're emphasis is based on Harrington and O'Neal?
This is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever heard, sure, I'm ecstatic with the performances that these two are putting in, but if I wasn't concentrating on any other players on the roster, why are certain players getting starting places? Why did Darell Armstrong get the start over Jamaal Tinsley last night? Why does the starting SF position differ near enough every match between Marquis Daniels and Danny Granger? I am paying great attention to everyone on the roster, not just Al and Jermaine.
How high do you think you can take the Pacers this season?
All the way, we haven't had the best start, but we are slowly but surely gelling together. Everyone on the team knows we can do it and we certainly have the talent.
So if someone walked through that door right now and said you would get to the second round of the playoffs but get knocked out by lets say..... Cleveland, you wouldn't take it?
Oh absolutely not.....
Anything you have to say to the fans?
Well what can you say....... they have been magnificent. Even when we are on the loosing side, the keep cheering, in a tight game, they yell their hearts out. The greatest set of fans in the NBA in my opinion.

The Indiana Pacers travelled to the Bradley Center, Wisconsin to play the 1-3 Milwaukee Bucks. Jasekivicius and Redd got their teams off the mark and the Pacer's Jermaine O'Neal was sent to the charity stripe twice and pulled down 2 rebounds in 2 minutes - he went on to get 6 of the Pacer's 10 points as they raced off to a 10-6 lead. Harrington and Jasekivicius inflicted further damage to the Bucks as they both put points on the board to go on a 6-0 run and make the score 16-6 3 minutes into the game. Finally, Andrew Bogut ended the run with his first points of the night. Marquis Daniels caught fire from the perimeter sinking two three's in a row adied by O'Neal and Harrington who were dominant on the offensive and defensive boards to stretch Indiana's lead to 22-10. Michael Redd added a few for Milwaukee, but Jasekivicius and Harrington combined again late in the 1st despite good effort from the Buck's center Andrew Bogut.
1st Quarter: Pacers 39-26 Bucks


Marquis Daniels had an excellent first quarter.

Pacer's big men O'Neal and Harrington crashed the boards superbly in the 2cnd and Milwaukee were gettin nothing easy from inside, the two big men put up some more points to make the score 51-37 late in the 2cnd, despite good shooting from Redd and Bogut. Becoming a formidable partnership - Jasekivicius and Harrington worked like a well-oiled machine keeping the Pacer's lead at half time.
2cnd Quarter: Pacers 65-54 Bucks


Al Harrington put in yet another good performance

The Bucks came out with a point to prove as Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut clawed Milwaukee back to within 4 points but Jasekivicius and Marquis Daniels picked up where they left off - Sarunas lay-up and Daniels with a 3 to make the score 72-65. Adrew Bogut almost singel handedly bought Milwaukee back to within 4 showing good defensive work and good conversions on offense. TJ ford also added to the Buck's cause and brang them within 3 - 79-76. Jasekivicius and O'Neal let Rick carlisle relax a while as they made the score 83-76 but Redd and Bogut struck back and made the score 85-83 to Indiana. With 41 seconds left in the third quarter, TJ ford levelled the game @ 91-91. Al Harrington who had been quiet by his standards in the third but sank 1 free throw to give Indiana a fragile lead going into the fourth and final quarter.

O'Neal got 5 rebounds before his earlier injury.

Harrington, Redd, O'Neal and Jasekivicius put points on the baord for their teams and the score was 98-93 with 2 minutes gone in the 4th, when O'Neal was bought off from an injury that proved not to be serious as was involved in a mid-air collision with Bogut - David Harrison filled the slot once again. Harrington coverted well and drained from the free-throw line with the score at 104-99. Redd bought Milwaukee back on level terms with nice jumpers until Stephen Jackson got some from the free-throw line. Jasekivicius capitalized on Milwaukee's missed outside attempt and got the easy fats-break lay-up. Redd made up for it however and levelled the game at 110-110. Rick Carlisle bought on Danny Granger for Marquis Daniels who contributed to the evenings good performance - then Jasekivicius showed the Buck's crowd what he was capable of, stealing two possesions in a row, laying-up and getting a three to give the Pacer's the away win.
Final Score: Pacers 120-110 Bucks


Andrew Bogut had a good game for the Bucks, getting 33 points at the end of the night but couldn't topple the Pacers.

POG: Sarunas Jasekivicius who got 27 points, 4 assists and provided at the crucial point in the game.

Record: 4-2
