The first album was much better, imo. The new one is a bit more diverse, but doesn't have the same impact. I'd still get it, but it's nothing groundbreaking.

Exactly, was expecting a lot more myself.

I guess I'll get it then, I've got no problem buying it for a couple songs, I do that all the time. Thanks guys. (Y)

If I can dig up enough cash Jae, I'm there. Don't care that much for emo's, if they don't fuck around than I'm fine.

And woah jae, it's like your listening to someone/thing new every time.

Enjoying at the moment other than the ones above:

Rolodex Propaganda - ATDI
and some U2, oasis, A, SOAD and Led zep.

Heh im writing this while eating grilled cheese.

Diverse?
They whole album uses the same formula as my immortal. :? Piano wanking, then some guitars. Its pretty safe to say they are done. They tanked the album.

Tickets are only $48, so it's pretty affordable. And yeah, I spend ages looking for new bands and whatever to listen to, which leads me to...

Protest The Hero... best band I've heard in years, some amazing stuff on their last album. I've spent all night listening to it, they make Alexisonfire look like a pub band (IMO lol).

I'm not sure about that. Lacrymosa uses a choir and Cloud Nine uses a lot of digital effects. I think it's diverse in terms of every song has a different feel, but they all seem too similar. Kinda like Coldplay's X&Y.

Just a few artist that I've been listening to lately are Lyfe Jennings, Robin Thicke, Avant, John Legend, Mario Vasquez and Passion. Passion really is someone that you should have a listen to. He's got loads of his songs on youtube but you can get them from other places too.

Any Foo Fighters fans here? I've been listening a lot to their songs lately and I don't care if everyone says they're commercial shit, I love their music: Dave Grohl's just great. If anyone's interested, a new album is coming out in November, it's a live album and it contains pretty good songs even if, I think, not their best... (songs like Learn to fly, Breakout, Aurora, I'll stick around and Monkey wrench among lots of other songs are missing)
Anyway, I wanted to know (even if already know some) what your favorite band/singer/artist/whatever is. My favorite bands are the Foo Fighters and even if I don't listen to them a lot anymore, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Fri Oct 20, 2006 8:22 am

Foo Fighters are decent, but I wouldn't listen to them on a regular basis. 'Hero' is my favorite song of theirs, but aside from that, their music is kind of bland for my taste. I do like Breaking Benjamin though, I think of them along kind of the same lines.

I'm trying new music all the time, the latest is Avenged Sevenfold... pretty good band. Pandora is a great way to find new bands also...

Yes, very wise choice!!! Check out their latest album 'Don't Believe the Truth' and their first 'Definately Maybe'. Fuckin top stuff! My respect for you has grown exponentially. Best band in the whole damn world

I have been listening to these albums of late:

Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
Graham Coxon - Love Is Travelling At Illegal Speeds
Razorlight - In The Morning
Magic Numbers - Magic Numbers
Hard-Fi - Stars of CCTV
Jet - Shine On
Oasis - Definately Maybe
Ryan Adams - Rock n Roll
Richard Ashcroft - Keys To The World

Helps keep me going through my exam study.

Oasis are one of my favorite bands too, but it's not like I know the name of all of their albums, songs and other stuff like I do for the Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc. I just like the sound of their songs, they sound really different than other bands.
What's your favorite song of their? Mine has to be Stand by me or Wonderwall.

Wonderwall is an alright song. Not my favourite but a great live track and a good sing-a-long. It was actually the first song I learnt to play on guitar. I would probably like it more if I hadn't heard it 100's of times and if my band didn't do covers of it for a long time.

I don't have one particular favourite Oasis song. If I was to make a short list it would be, at least at the present, the following:

Live Forever (in my opinion the most perfect song of all time)
Slide Away
Rock N Roll Star
Cigarrettes and Alcohol
Some Might Say
Champagne Supernova
Cast No Shadows
Don't Look Back In Anger
I Hope, I Think, I Know
All Around The World
Stand By Me
Where Did It All Go Wrong
The Masterplan (best B-side ever)
Acquisce
Talk Tonight
The Hindu Times
Born On A Different Cloud
Songbird
Stop Crying Your Heart Out
Keep The Dream Alive
Love Like A Bomb
Turn Up The Sun
Guess God Thinks I'm Able
The Importance of Being Idle

Sadly that is the shortest list I could think of off the top of my head. Oasis actually have a best of coming out soon so maybe check that out. I think it's got 18 tracks over 2 cd's. Otherwise check out their live double album 'Familiar To Millions', it's pretty much a best of up until 2000.

If you like Oasis I recommend you check out the Stereophonics, especially their first album 'Word Gets Around'. Also 'Urban Hymms' by The Verve is great, and anything by the Stone Roses is awesome!

hmm the other say I was listening to the radio and there's TWO "new" Tupac songs out right now. One with Bizzy Bone (or one of the other Bone Thugs) and it would be a decent song if it didn't sound so repetitive. The other is with Ashanti and I think T.I. called "Pac's Life", but that song is horrible (N).

This made me think about what Colin said a month or so ago that he's only the 12th best rapper in his opinion, but I thought he is one of the best. I think it has a lot to do with where we live... I don't know how much Pac you guys got in Canada, but in Southern California, we got so much Pac in the last 15 years. One of Colin's knocks on Tupac was that he didn't have "true classics".
Of course, our definitions of classics are different, but still to this day, not a week goes by that I don't hear "California Love" on the radio. I hear 2pac classic hits like "How Do U Want It", "I Get Around", "All Bout U", and "2 of Amerikas Most Wanted" among others all the time on the radio. I hear about 5-10 2pac songs on the radio each week.
I do understand that radioplay doesn't mean a whole lot (otherwise, 50 Cent would be the best rapper ever (N)), but it must mean something when people are still bumping a lot of 2pac songs on the radio after all this time. What's interesting is that the "92.3" and "106" he mentions in "To Live and Die in L.A." are the stations that still play his songs, among a few others.
I dunno, just a few thoughts on that.

Tupac was highly influential, but I don't think he's the best.

oh yeah I got a chance to check it out and content-wise, it's not as great as Get Lifted, but it's still great music to put on and just chill to.

^Exactly my thoughts.

To the foo fighters guy (joe i believe): Dave Grohl, one of the few people i consider musical genius...however the last album was terrible. The acoustic side was alright but the rock side was just the same respliced song over and over. I loved it when i first got it, then i was done with it in a week. When i get an album thats truly good, i spent about 2 months listening to it until i know every nuance and detail about each song. Whoever brought up Pandora, you are a smart man. i've wasted so much time on there looking for new music. But for informations sake:
My favorites of all time: Eminem, Steve Miller Band, The Beatles, Offspring, Nine Inch Nails, 2pac, AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Green Day, Blink 182, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Pink Floyd and last but certainly not least Bob Marley. (eclectic enough for you guys? lol)
My favorites of the moment: Bad Religion, Avenged Sevenfold, Panic! at the Disco (yet i hate fallout boy, go figure), barenaked ladies (i'm missing 2 of their albums from my catalog), Hootie and the Blowfish....i never listen to the radio anymore thanks to apple and that little ipod invention so i dont know anything "new" unless i was watching fuse and ran into it or someone sends me it. I HATE the "indie" movement in america right now...i'm all for screwing corporations but unsigned does not make you good.

Silly as it may sound, I have to agree with you.
eclectic enough for you guys? lol

Not really. I've seen eclectier.
Panic! at the Disco (yet i hate fallout boy,

Yet both bands' songs are somewhat repetitive in nature.
Hootie and the Blowfish

Quite some time since I've seen a (fellow) Hootie fan. I'm always wondering where are they now.

Repeatedly listening to The Killers - When You were Young.
A nice break and change after repeatedly listening to mostly 1 song for the past months, which is Keane - Somewhere Only We Know.

before last night, I had only heard the one song with Pharrell from his album, which I thought was pretty good.
but last night I left on BET for some reason and they were playing music videos and Robin THicke came on with the video for "Lost Without You". I think that song's pretty good too.
