Oh, the joys of technology

Today my iPod stopped working while I was at school, so when I got home I went to the Apple Support site to try to get some help. I find a topic in the forum that's pretty much exactly my problem, and guess what the solution was ... well, find out for yourself, it's a bit more than half way down the page: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jsp ... 9&tstart=0

I was a little bit skeptical at first, but I though what the hell, and believe it or not, it worked. All the complicated, detailed stuff people can do with computers today, and this problem could have been solved in the Stone Age. Go figure.

 thats pretty funny, who would of thought that

That's pretty weird. I wonder what was wrong with it then (sorry if its int he link, I just read the way to fix it). My old computer monitor would turn itself off, and the only way to get it back going was to hit it on the side afew times. I guess whatever it takes to fix it. Still that's pretty weird.

iPods can be so frustrating at times  my battery doesn't last as long as it used to and after listening to it for a while the battery appears dead, but I just turn it back on and it fill back up to half :x maybe I will try what's said in that thread

Simplisity is the answer. That't the truth.

Simple.

Yeah, that happened to me too... I thought my iPod was dead because everytime I turned it on, that folder with the exclamation mark showed up and I couldn't access my music and stuff, but then, I don't know how, the iPod fell down from my desk and then it magically started working again. Anyways, if what happened to me ever happens to you, there's a non-physicalway to restore your iPod: Go to My PC>Right click the iPod drive>click Format (make sure you select Quick Format)>Disconnect the iPod from your PC>Reconnect it again>Run the iPod updater and select the option to give your iPod its default features. If that doesn't work, try doing it viceversa (Give your iPod its default features and then format it. Later, update it trough iPod updater).

The only problem with Joe's idea is that you lose your music (at least I think you do, if I understood him), and when you don't have your music on your PC, that's a problem.

It's called the American Way. We've known about this little trick for a long time :D

Yeah, that's true...you lose all the data on the iPod but if you only have that data on your iPod and you cannot get your iPod to work, then.......well, just forget about what I said and give your iPod a few kicks, it will work

I got my 5th generation 60G video ipod and like it was only two or three weeks until the sad ipon icon popped up. It has been 4 or so months since this happened and i have not been able to use it. I had heard that dropping theory for ages, finaly tried it tonight. Nothing...still got the sad ipod icon, i dropped you from pretty high mind you and made a rather loud noise. Any specific way to throw it or anything else in general?

I just hit it a couple times on my desk, not too hard though. That site says hit the top right corner, but I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
